Guys, I was thinking about Ashok Chitturi's deck. He doesn't run color cards, so he doesn't need to run Springleaf Drum (a card that don't do anything). I know, Tezz is Amazing but it is a four drop and needs a blue and black mana. Removing these cards we open slots to creatures like steel overseer, being possible to have a more explosive deck.
I just don't agree with him about remove Thoughtcast, because it's our only tool to refuel our hand.
I will build a list and post here later.
Is anybody looking at masterwork of ingenuity as plating 5-8? Would that make the deck too brittle?
I don't like it, for the reasons already said so far > I'd rather play Jitte or a Sword.
That said, it would be interesting to copy opponents' equipment, but since Jitte is the most commonly played equipment where I play, I doubt that it's gonna be useful should they get to swing first....
Tezz is the only planeswalker I would consider. It's a toolbox on one card that can turn games on it's head.
When you consider the amount of mana we have on hand from early on, it's possible to cast it on T2 (I've done it plenty)
yeah I've tried other walkers just to see how they work and every time I'd cast it, I just wished it were a tezzy. he wins fastest and that's what we want
so i'm playing in a legacy iq february 15th and looking for advice against death and taxes. usually beats me with their toolbox answers. we can easily run any of the five colors. i don't have the time or money to switch to the ashok list from the november gp. you guys have any good cards against them? all i have is whipflare

yeah removal is rough which is why ravager excels in that dept. i also run apostle's blessing in my board. 1-2 pending on what i feel the field is. the deck is pretty much a dedication play. you either love it or would rather play something better. i just consistantly tweek my board and main deck. love it too much to put down.
I'm looking to build a version of Affinity similar to that of Ashok Chitturi's used in GPNJ. Sadly I haven't been able to play legacy since the banning of Treasure Cruise.
So the question is how well do you think a last like Ashoks would perform in today's meta?
that version of affinity is very good and super fast. a buddy of mine plays it and we dropped the chalice to board and put probes in it's place and it's so good. control decks are usually to slow to stop them and believe it or not, the guy who gives are your bots plus one counters (brainfart) is way batter tHan you may think. seeing the deck in action give you a better idea of it's speed and awesomeness.
and legacy is slow to change and with cruise gone it looks like miracles and shard less bug/sultai control are the bigger decks. I think in this meta, it's such a rogue deck that no one would be ready for it
I would have never considered probes. I would have figured that the loss of life from tombs/skirge would have made that a little prohibitive (at least it seemed that way in my testing).
But I can agree that Steel Overseer is amazing. I run Affinity in modern and can vouch for its power (if it doesn't get removed).
My list differs from Ashoks in that I run max Etched Champion and Chalice main,Blinkmoth Nexus as the manland of choice and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in place of Contested War Zone (not a big fan of war zone and like being able to Instant speed plating and not getting hurt from tomb.)
Originally tried out Lodestone Golem in place of Champion, but that waa pre-ban.
I'm nervous about my Miracle matchup, but I'm hoping chalice and post board thorn of Amethyst can help with that.
urborg is amazing. I run it in any deck I run tombs in. and miracles is a tough match up but I've land ad chalice on one against them and it slows them down heavily. it's been a while since I've seen the list but if it runs phyrexian revoker, naming top is a good choice.
not sure on your thoughts of citadels but a buddy o mine swapped them for vault of whispers and it have him more chances at swapping plating instant speed which improved his matchups.
Vaults instead of citadels? I wouldn't have considered that, with Wasteland being relevant again, but I'll try it out. A buddy of mine suggested Seats for Thoughtcast, but not totally sold on the idea
yeah our thoughts on wasteland was "if they want to destroy a land, they get one of em either way" so we replace citadels and it runs better. but his deck is proxied version cuz he doesn't own city of traitors. if he went somewhere to play, he would have to use vaults over city. but that's just me sharing lol. it'd just take some testing to see what land works better but swapping plating at instant speed I feel is needed. can't always rely on champion to finish the game wearing one
I'm in a similar boat as your busy in that I'm unable to go downer to play physically (unless something big like scg rolls into town) so a lot of my testing comes from xmage.
looks like an interesting list. not much feedback i can think of. if you have ancient tombs you cold push out more of your opening hands, but i can see how you would want to take less damage because of souleater, but he is just a one of.
the one urbog is fantastic, i run it in mine, and i've always loved the disciple kill.
for some reason, master seems out of place. with all the saccing the deck wants to do, you may have some good results with arcbound worker. he gets you counters on other dudes when he dies and is only 1cmc.
but for the most part it looks pretty sweet. please post results. this thread has been dormant for a little bit
congrats on the 2-1 finish. match ups sound about right. countertop is rough and lands can snag the 0cmc which sucks too. I've found chalice against them is the only real answer. ashoks crazy aggro list from gp New Jersey ran 3 and was so fast that it stands a chance. but my love for chalice took me to tezzerator control but I'll prolly be trying out the ashok list in te next couple weeks at my lgs. I'll leave feedback on how it goes but glad to hear some good results keep posting
I have been away from this list for some time now and have been dying to brew up something new. Now that Day's Undoing has been spoiled I am really considering it, though it would really put the focus of the deck back on affinity drops and less on the big artifact synergy guys. I am not sure if it plays well with thoughtcast either, or if it would make more sense to run one over the other. I am thinking this right now:
I had a similar idea, actually, partly because of Day's Undoing and partly because of something I saw somewhere: Craig Wescoe (I believe) had a "Would you keep this hand against an unknown opponent?" that consisted of:
Ornithopter
Ornithopter
Glimmervoid
Springleaf Drum
Mox Opal
Mox Opal
Day's Undoing
...and I decided Affinity is now interesting in Legacy gain. I'm guessing either Day won't be good in Modern or it'll be bonkers + banned within a season. I also think your initial idea of more Affinity drops and fewer big robots is where I'd like to start too. Right away, though, might it be better to push Signal Pest up to 4 and maybe switch out the Cradle for another Ancient Tomb? I wouldn't want to need a mulligan a hand in a 14-land deck just because I pulled te Cradle out first.
I just don't agree with him about remove Thoughtcast, because it's our only tool to refuel our hand.

Vedalken Certarch makes me want to play wasteland too if you want to play the style your deck is.
