I decided to revamp my old Burn Deck so I can get back into tournament play. I read this websites' sticky on Legacy Burn Decks and it looks like I'm on the right track but, I would appreciate any input you may have.
This is more of a Goblin/Burn hybrid than a Burn deck. Right now, you have some creatures that aren't really going to be doing much damage. Goblin Arsonist is too often going to be "R: deal 1 damage" which is a very poor rate. Unless you just sit back and wait until you draw Goblin Grenade, which makes it "RR: Deal 6 damage" which is a very conditional, fragile way to turn two mediocre cards into two Lightning Bolts. Vexing Devil might deal 4 damage, which is ok, but also will often be killed without dealing any damage, which is not where you want to be as Burn.
Eidolon of the Great Revel should be at a fairly low point right now, as it was just reprinted. If you have any interest in playing Burn in Legacy or Modern, you should look into buying those. A playset should be $15-20. Eidolon is a key win condition vs. Storm decks, and is often good for 4-6 damage.
Monastery Swiftspear is just a better Raging Goblin. It doesn't work with Goblin Grenade, but with some spells Swiftspear can often hit for 3-5 damage in a couple turns.
Searing Blaze is another key spell -- especially with fetchlands -- as it allows you to deal damage to the opponent with spells while simultaneously removing your opponent's creatures so that your own can continue to deal damage.
I'd change the deck like this, as a starting point:
I cut the 'bad' Goblins and replaced them with Eidolons and Swiftspears, and changed the Goblin Grenades for Searing Blazes. I moved one Lavamancer to the sideboard in place of a Shattering Spree. You might also just play 4 Smash to Smithereens instead of any Shattering Sprees, since Smash to Smithereens deals damage while killing Chalice, and Chalice for 2 is only really a problem if it's then followed up by Chalice for 1, which is a little slow. But a single Spree is probably fine.
These changes should probably run <$25 and would make the deck more consistent, I think.
