MTG Salvation

I have a friend who builds off the wall themed commander decks. He has a Mad max one, a MP and the Holy grail one, and a Pirate one. They are "bad" decks but a ton of fun to play. Which got me thinking about building one my self. Due to these decks being terrible by virtue of adhering to theme over power and synergy I decided it would be best if I build two decks to play against each other ala Dual Decks. The first thing that came to mind was a Heroes vs Villains disney themed deck.

I decided to start with some rules.

1. The Hero deck will be 4-color no-black and the Villain deck will be 4-color no-white.
2. Each deck will contain exactly 1 card representing each of the Theatrically released Full Length Animated disney movies. This rule does not pertain to lands.


This only gets me to 48 movies. If I run 36 lands, and 1 Commander I am still 15 cards short. I have yet to decide how to fill that gap besides waiting for Disney to release another 15 movies.

Onto the lists.





Some of the card choices are a little strong than others. As you can see the Hero deck is much more developed than the Villain deck. So you might be asking what I want from you? I need ideas for the missing movies. I also need on themed non basics. Finally I need to figure out how to fill the remaining 15 slots until Disney pumps out some more movies.

I am slowly altering all the cards in these decks. It helps change this deck from just an eclectic collection of cards to a cohesive theme deck.

For zootopia hero, maybe zodiac rabbit? There's 4 rabbits but 2 are evil mosters and 1 is a jackalope.

For Lady and the Tramp villain you could maybe go with geistcatcher's rig or ratcatcher, wasn't the pound basically the villain in that movie? Maybe even imprison or barl's cage or something like that. I was going to suggest dogged hunter (GET IT?) but sadly it's white.

Aren't you supposed to do allasaurus rider for dinosaur? or old fogey if you're willing to go to un-land.

Fox and the Hound is a movie I haven't seen since I was probably 7. I don't really remember the exact plot of the movie. I don't really know how I should handle having two protagonist and the main conflict of the story being them driven apart by there lots in life.

Zootopia has thesame problem as Fox and the Hound. Being that it has two main characters. A Fox and a Rabbit. Though bunny cop would make an adorable alter.

Lady and the Tramp is another movie I haven't seen in forever. I have the blu-ray ordered so I should change that soon.

Allosaurus Rider is awkward because it depicts the rider, not the dinosaur it rides. Stomphowler is a card I've seen in other Dinosaur themed decks. I'm not wild about it though.

I like Bolt for Lava Hounds because it has haste. Come to think of it, disney makes a ton of movies with Dogs as the main character.

And Finally the three newest cards for this project. I need to start working on lands again.

Dang, son, your alter arts are ON POINT. I have a powerful need for a Scar Royal Assassin and an Ariel Merfolk Looter now.

(also, please tell me that your Kiss of the Amesha is going to be Snow White & Dopey!

Suggestions for Heroes:

+ If you hadn't already done the alter on Command Tower, I was going to suggest that be Rapunzel's tower. Maybe Tower of Fortunes?
+ Fact or Fiction is an interesting choice for Alice in Wonderland, but hear me out ... Giant Growth. Eh? Eh?
+ For Zootopia, Judy Hopp would be well-represented by Tireless Tracker.

Suggestions for Villains:

+ Tangled: Stangg and Stangg Twin (The Stabbington Bros.)
+ Wreck-It Ralph: The Hive (Cy-Bugs)

Were you ever able to finish this build idea? I'd enjoy seeing what you were able to do for the rest of everything on both decks.
