While there are a plethora of different green generals to choose from. I felt only the packleader gave me the draw for the late game. The basic game plan is to play excelleration and then drop fatty after fatty. You have all the biggest dudes, and with packleader in play, you have the reach no other green deck has.
One of my issues thus far is there's just too many good cards I'm just not aware of yet (gatherer advanced searches can only take you so far).
We've thus far used my other pauper decks (Sludge strider, Inkfathom witch, and Gelectrode), and this deck has a bit of trouble against inkfathom witch's flying dudes, so something like Squall should probably go in. (Though I don't know if there's better out there - back to gatherer!)
I love how awesomely brutal your deck is ! I will build one like that once really ^^ !
IMO, i'll add :
- Fortitude and/or Broken Fall as a ""protection"" for the General => replace Tumble Magnet (IMO ^^)
- Oakgnarl Warrior => replace Grizzled Outcast. If you draw like cray, you'll play a lot of spells and if not, your opponent will make sure this creature never stays 7/7 long enough (trust me, i played a lot with him and i found it really underwhelming).
- Thresher Beast => replace Fangren Marauder because i think that it's a reaaaally underpowered 5/5.
Then you should replace Harrow with Skyshroud Claim, it's clearly superior in your build ^^.
I'm a little sceptic about Maul Splicer. I know, it makes you draw 2 (all and all, the card advantage it provides in your deck is awesome i'll admit) but the cost is really, really high... I think you should try the Provoke instead (mentioned above) because it is almost a removal and it cantrips... Well, i'm not really 'sure' of it, you should test yourself ^^.
Cards I'm Passing on: Jackalope Herd - There are enough dudes in the +3 power category that I would rather just play dudes I can attack with, not just have a slow draw engine when my general is out. Cobbled Wings - I like the other two, but only flying just seems so much worse (even though it's just slightly worse) Monstrify - I would rather just have another dude + another card Evolution Charm - it does help me out of land screw, but it doesn't excel or create CA. Crushing vines is good, but I own the ground every game, and it seems playing Cobbled Wings would be better. Lace with Moonglove - Deathtouch isn't very good on big creatures (I'm usually killing their dudes anyway) Gift of the Gargantuan - I'm not a huge cards that can whiff Ferocious Charge - It's ok, but my dudes are already the biggest, and scry is not a sufficient reason. Imperiosaur - He's an efficient beater, but not much else, I would rather have dudes that do stuff
