Hello zombie fans! I want to create a zombie deck and was hoping to get some advice on selecting a Commander. I’m leaning toward The Scarab God but wanted to get some opinions before starting the build. My play group is 3 to 4 players so the damage to each opponent works well. I am afraid that it will be the target of everyone’s removal since this would be considered Commander damage. His Exile target creature card in any graveyard and create a 4/4 black Zombie token ability is Pretty darn good—- it can moves pesky creature into exile and gets you a Zombie. Not exactly sure how his triggered death ability works but sounds like it returns to its owners hand at the beginning of the next end step if it dies, which makes it easy to cast.
After doing a lot of reading I decide to go with Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver. It way less expensive and makes for an easy build.
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

FYI, The Scarab God's ability would not count as Commander Damage, which only happens when it deals combat damage to an opponent (not only that, but the ability doesn't even deal damage, it just causes loss of life).
Wilham is a good choice. I personally have a deck with Gisa and Geralf as the commander, with plenty of self-mill to get my Zombies in the graveyard.
Most zombies are UB , so there are a bunch to pick from.
You can go for a token-theme, as there are a lot of zombie tokens and spells that make zombies.
Or go a way to reanimate zombies from the graveyard.
With Willhelt you probably want a lot of zombies, tokens or not.
Cards that go especially well with him are zombies that come back easily from your grave and anything that helps you with sacrifice of them to fuel more tokens.
