MTG Salvation

I finally said "screw it" and decided to make a second Grixis deck. I've been wanting to play with this pair for awhile but I already had one Grixis Commander. When I took it for a whirl, I knew this deck was a fun as I imagined. The idea is to keep going with untap effects that cost me to gain mana, so that I can cast spells on every turn for Smasher's trigger. This also means I don't want to use X spells, as a lot of the effects I have that'll cheat things out will not work with X. The idea was also spawned by my enjoyment of my Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker deck that I took apart because it took too long to win; between Smasher and Kraum, I'll have a clock once I gain control.

First change: Whelk's fine but Rewind fits the deck better. Ditto with Scarab God for Frantic Search.

Supplant Form is just a tad too expensive for me and I found the same with Omnispell Adept. I am also not dropping super gross Sorceries on end step, so that's another reason for that axe. With the deck wanting to go Mana Positive, I've added Unwinding Block and Victory Chimes to help with that.

Exquisite Blood synergizes much more with Vial Smasher.

The deck needed more draw so I just grabbed the first two random Enchantments I could: Curse of Verbosity and Trail of Evidence. Saheeli's Aristry and Karn's Temporal Sundering also cost too much mana. That and I knew I was axing the Omnispell Adept who would have helped me cast it.

Second batch: I found I needed less draw and more Instants, especially ones I could cheat out, so I put in a bunch of defensive options that will cost me very little and make Vial Smasher happy with their CMC.

Overall better for the deck: Stolen Identity is cool but 6 mana Sorcery is a big ask for something that isn't saving my bacon. Dig Through Time can be played at any time, lets me dig deep and is easily reduced while hitting hard with Vial Smasher.
