Hmmmm, I quite like the new Dimir Legendary they just spoiled.
Not too sure about how effective a 4cmc unblockable would be, but I'm going to try her out. Ninjutsu synergises quite nicely to counteract her shuffle in trigger. Sure you don't get the ninjas damage ability triggering, but you get removal and an alternate win con.

I really like that alternate wincon, as well. You can ninjutsu in response to the trigger and get her to your hand instead of shuffled back in.

Ninjitsu happens during the Declare Blockers step if no blockers are declared, before the Combat Damage step. The Ninja you Ninjitsu into play replacing her is the one dealing combat damage. If you Ninjitsu, she never deals the Combat damage for her trigger.

You can actually activate the ninjutsu ability anytime during the combat phase after blockers have been declared, you just need to an unblocked attacking creature (and the mana to pay for the ability haha) and seeing as creatures remain attacking right till the end of combat step you can activate ninjutsu after combat damage is assigned.
So with Etrata you'd announce her as an attacker, go through the declare blockers step, assign combat damage so her ability triggers, then activate ninjutsu (say Yuriko) returning Etrata as part of the cost, Yuriko comes in but doesn't deal any combat damage but you've exiled a creature and avoided shuffling Etrata back in to your library. Everyone is happy, apart from your opponent.

Well that is quite interesting! Thanks for correcting me. I was considering her for fun and clearing out blockers, anyway, but this sounds pretty dang interesting!

No worries mate. You can actually get some pretty funky results when dealing with Ninjutsu, especially if you throw first strike into the mix because then you can let the first striker deal damage in the first strike phase, then ninja in something else to deal damage in the normal damage step.
A while ago I played a test game and had Yuriko removed before damage, so in response I ninja'd in someone else to take her place, then ninja'd Yuriko back in place of a little 1/1 unblockable. That nuance is why I love playing Yuriko, I just wish there were more (good) ninjas to play with haha.
I am also looking for room for a Xenograft. This leaves me with relatively few options for any sort of testing.
I'm personally not seeing the interest in Nightveil Sprite. Is the Surveil 1 really that useful? I'm honestly curious; maybe there's something I'm not getting. Those other cards are fantastic additions though.
With Nightveil Sprite you can surveil 1 before you swap in a ninja with ninjutsu, which helps somewhat manipulate the top of the deck beforehand. It also has some form of evasion which is good. It's also just 1U to cast.

Coming back to MTG after a few years hiatus... I was delighted to find a Ninjutsu commander!!!
I brew my own deck which I'll post later, but reading this thread, there's a 2 cards I'm wondering why they didn't get suggested:
- Spellstutter sprite: 2 mana, flash, which can counter some low cmc spells (or higher cmc if you have bitterblossom out)
- Vendilion Clique: probably the best 3 CMC card to recur over and over again...
Also, please don't use Swiftfoot boots in this deck, if you need a second hasty equipment, use: Chariot of Victory instead, this way you can have haste, and first strike on your sneaking creature. It's 1 more CMC to cast it, same equip cost, and honestly, the hexproof part of the boots really doesn't matter.
I found them a little expensive but well worth it.
Another thing is you can easily abuse Draco
Sure you are never casting it but it's so easy to tutor him to top and then use a brainstorm, scroll rack, or jace to put him back for more abuse.

Hey guys so I've actually moved on from commander on to 60 card decks so I don't have any commander decks.
Anyway I've started my own gameplay channel in which I play games (Magic also)
I found them a little expensive but well worth it.

I haven't updated the list in a while, but I do have Insidious Dreams and I remember throwing a Draco in there for memes (not listed).
The list needs a lot of updates (and I have no time to do the rigorous testing necessary for it), but I'm a little curious as to how stax works with something like this...

Yuriko isn't effected by a lot of stax effects so it's been promising so far. Best ones so far being cursed totem, chains of mep*****oples, damping sphere, and winter orb

Almost forgot Arcane lab, orb of dreams, and dumb things like massacre and submerge.
I also like a small reanimator package but honestly that could be cut since I am debating on grafdiggers cage and planar void

Sorry for bumping, but I made these suggestions in another Yuriko thread.
All three are sac outlets which utilize Yuriko's ability.
1. Magus of the Abyss - forces your opponents to sac creatures which clears the way for your attackers to hit. When it comes to your turn, just sac Yuriko and replay her with her ability. If things go south the body can hit your opponents ok, and if you want to stop the stax just sac the guy to his own ability. To a lesser extent, Smokestack can serve the same purpose. If Braids, Cabal Minion would be legal she would be an all star here.
2. Contamination - significantly more mean and only relevant if you have mana rocks which generate U. You basically make players unable to play the game, and sac and bring back Yuriko the same way.
3. Bontu, the Glorified - indestructible and evasive, so you don't mind swinging with him. Sac outlet for Yuriko, so you can activate him more reliably. Scry 1, so you can decide on the top card before you trigger Yuriko, and some lifegain on top. Seems pretty neat.
Another card I find to be testworthy is [[Kira, Great Glassspinner]]. Ninjitsu, Emerge, and Exploit are all non-targetting abilities so you can work around the shroud and Kira gives your team an extra layer of protection. Even works with Quickling and Co.!
BGW Elves BGW|BW Tokens BW|WBR Sword&ShieldWBR|BUG DelverBUG|UWR Kiki UWR | UR Storm UR
1U
Faerie Rogue
1/2 with flying, when it attacks surveil 1.
Solid enabler for Yuriko and helps with both top deck manipulation and filling the yard for Delve cards.

a 2cmc preordain isn't amazing, but not requiring blue is actually very nice and the back half, while expensive, is still serviceable.
