MTG Salvation

This Lavinia of the Tenth list began as a concept deck. I wanted to make a deck that utilized the Detain mechanic. Adding card number 1 to the deck was obvious - Lavinia of the Tenth is best in class at representing Detain. She could be what the deck does. Next up, I put in all the blink effects I could think of, and many more that I couldn't. With this deck, you'll want to be doing Lavinia over and over again. If Lavinia isn't touching your opponents, that means they're not playing the first four turns at least. Odds are, she'll be catching dorks and rocks all over the place. I threw in a themed bunch of slow-down effects, taxes and ETB-tapped effects next, so that Lavinia's opponents will be playing cards that fall within her parameters for a longer period of time. Then I put in my own ramp and mana base, and filled in the gaps with my favorite card advantage effects. This is what I ended up with. Amongst the players that I play against, I haven't lost 1v1 yet. By all accounts, it seems to be a paper to their rock. In multiplayer, I was instantly archenemy against four other players, and held them off for a good, fast paced 90 minutes. I need more multiplayer games to get a better sense of performance. Like a dog chasing a car, I don't have any plans for what happens after Lavinia and friends soft-stax the game. 1v1 I usually just go for combat damage, treating the deck like hatebears or something - fast agro with disruption. Multiplayer, I like shooting for emblems.

If you add Archaeomancer and or Mnemonic Wall, you can use them with Ghostly Flicker to be able to flicker every turn. Illusionist's Stratagem can act as Ghostly Flicker nr. 2.

Additionally, I would try to make the deck a little more resilient in the late game. I would add the following:

Emeria the Sky Ruin
Emeria Shepherd
Sun Titan
Monk Idealist
Treasure Hunter

You play only two colors so I would up the plains count a bit to more reliably enable Emeria, but all in all this will ensure you run out of gass less often and allow you to repeatedly recur Conjurer's Closet which will be public enemy nr. 1 with your commander.

Muddle the Mixture is a counter that also tutors for 15 cards in your deck. It could even grab a Cyclonic Rift if you made room for it! I have a soft spot for Second Sunrise and Faith's Reward but that could be a meta call.. Mine runs obscene amounts of boardwipes.. Because of that I would swap Seashell Cameo for Darksteel Ingot and put in a good word for Guardian Idol.

I don't know how I missed Illusionist's Strategem, but it's in there now. I think changes are in order.

"Discovered" Alms Collector from C17. It's in. I have a casual and friendly stax theme going on here. I like cards that only inconvenience my opponents.

How about Monastery Mentor as another win-con? You've got a lot of non-creature spells and detain prevents opponents from blocking.
