It's been incredibly solid. I like it both as a finisher option because it gets through and as a etb effect to really wipe out fliers. There are precious few that survive a 6 damage hurricane.
Well, anti fliers do have good things going for them. The only flier I really fear is avacyn, angel of hope because she's a pain to remove. But, I have at least three ways of getting rid of pesky indestructibles one way or another. Or, I can just vomit up my deck and go through or over the top of avacyn lol
Lol it's a nice option to have. I don't have a lot to deal with her myself - Duplicant and Scour from Existence. Having said that I can recur one all day long and find the other easily.
Yeah, was thinking of adding in something to manage indestructible specifically. I don't think Blight Sickle is the answer specifically; It doesn't quite add enough.Triumph of the Hordes could very well see a place here though. It's a win con, indestructible beater enough to round out some options in that area, and I can get it back easy enough.
Incidentally, the suggested removal of archetype of endurance earlier has applications with various hexproof things. With your 8 mana uncommon out, avacyn can't hide behind her boots!
You could also consider taking a page out of my book and going with lignify and song of the dryads. Turning avacyn into a 0/4 treefolk is hilarious!
On a more serious note, one of the most obnoxious things my yeva deck does is to recur duplicant with temur sabertooth. More than once when I finally drew into a finisher, I had completely removed my opponents board from the game. Green control is absolutely evil.
Yeah, that's the dream really. With enough mana and those two cards, you're all set. I mostly play with my wife, so I don't know if I'd go so far as to obliterate her board entirely - I do enjoy being married - but it's nice being able to search that out when needed too.
I play in a couple of local card shops where people run around with anything from precons to mishra's workshop enabled karn, silver golem decks. On the lower end of that, I don't exile their board. On the upper end? Well, I don't feel too bad about blowing up anything and everything they play. Especially when I have a devotion mana ramper out and get nacatl war pride....I can't tell you how many times that guy has generated me from 30 to 40 extra mana for a single turn, especially when I maze of ith my original war pride.
However, for the sake of marital bliss, I wouldn't suggest emulating my playstyle too much......
Yeah I'll agree on that. That being said, my wife is vengeful and competitive - I've helped her out with a Roon deck that can be incredibly stifling, complete with infinite mana on tap and infinite counter triggers. So, you know, glass houses and stones...I try to scale to how competitive she's feeling.
I'm surprised that works - do the tokens from the war-pride have mana symbols for devotion? If it does work that way, god damn I need a copy of that card.
Just like clone, this card copies all characteristics, including mana cost. So, if your opponent has 10 creatures, you get 10 copies, for +30 devotion until end of turn (or depending on whatever they blocked and killed of those tokens). If you can give them haste and untap them, you can do some horrible things with extra combats with these guys (not that I would have ever experimented with such shenanigans....). You can even do some fancy tricks with cards such as cytoshape if you time it correctly. For example, if you let the trigger go on the stack and then turn nacatl war-pride into a wood elves, you now have + that many wood elves to get forests with after the trigger resolves. And people thought blade of selves was broken...
Also, there is nothing saying you have to be attacking the same player with those tokens as the original player attacked was. You may use this fact as a method of attacking mr. pillowfort (another reason to run maze of ith to untap your war pride) and getting off scott free. If you are playing multiple colors and add in red, this becomes an army in a can of unblockable creatures with menace enablers.
Basically, properly played this little guy will be a powerful tool in your arsenal. At his worst, he is a free run through for everything else on the battlefield. He even acts as a wrath against token decks. If you have him and pathbreaker ibex out, make sure to put war pride's trigger on the stack last so that it resolves first, meaning the tokens all get the +x/+x and trample bonus from ibex.
It will not interact with soul of the harvest because soul of the harvest specifies non token creatures. It does interact with the others (and I do run that same interaction in my Yeva deck). Elemental bond (and garruk's packleader) it does interact with, but be careful. Elemental bond is not a may trigger. If there are more creatures under the opponent's control than you have cards in your libary, you will deck yourself. It helps to have an abundance on the battlefield for such situations!
Ah yes, I had forgotten that about SotH. And this is the case for running Garruk's Packleader over Elemental Bond - Higher CMC, but a 'may' clause. I'd consider swapping the packleader in just for that. I don't believe I have anything else that would enable me to deck myself (barring regal force + panharmonicon and a full board).
I'd really like to track down Abundance for the deck regardless - it almost seems like it would function as a secondary pseudo-tutor beside Wild Pair - it won't search specifics out, but it will make sure my draws are answers instead of land drops, which I can get any time I like with Nissa. Solid card here.
I agree. The only problem I have is that it hasn't been reprinted in a while - barring the Nissa v. Ob Nixilis duel deck, which I'm not going to buy for a dollar rare. I like to support my LGS when I can, but I am feeling an online order coming - there are a lot of decks, including this one, that need things I won't dig through crates for.
Second, Masked admirers is really good albeit usually underestimated. She's even more degenerate if you're running survival of the fittest. Just consider the amount of times you play a creature and have mana unspent (I think that probably happens a ton in here with the amount of ramp it has). If you do, and she is in your graveyard, GG more and voila, one more creature and one more extra draw.
Otherwise, I like most of your changes. They should serve you well!
Thanks weltkrieg Had a good day, spent some time with the nieces and nephew, they really make the day special.
I see how Masked Admirers could be a good add here. I've yet to really play much at the moment, as I've had newer decks to playtest. I don't believe I have a sac outlet in here, but there's nothing wrong with turning her sideways.
I think the changes are generally good too. The only thing I know I'll miss is Krosan Grip. Split Second is excellent.
I'm now in the enviable position with this deck of really not having a lot of fat to trim - which makes cuts hard and squeezing new value in hard. Bond left because it didn't have a 'may' clause and because Packleader is a creature and therefore is Wild Pair able. Yeva left simply because I don't need her, whereas I'll likely never turn down extra draw on a 2 drop body - visionary has added value, where Yeva doesn't have an immediate impact on her own. Flash is nice, but if I somehow my battlefield is blasted and all I have to drop is Yeva, she's just a 3/3; visionary is smaller but can draw me into answers, simple as that.
Had a 3 game tie breaker 1v1 against my wife over the weekend (her playing a demon flavoured Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath - it works well and is one of her stronger decks). First game I stomped. Had Pathbreaker Ibex and Aetherwind Basker out at the same time - not much could be done to deal with that, and I had more gas in hand. Second game was close, but I ended up with an emblem I couldn't get rid of from Ob Nixilis Reignited and a Zendikar Resurgent I couldn't destroy.
Third game I got nerfed by an early game Myojin of Night's Reach, held on as long as I could but ultimately swept, I just couldn't keep the momentum up to deal with what was being thrown at me. The games made me think more about what sort of options I have here though:
Tornado Elemental was a frickin all star. I'd love more like him, so I'll likely pick up a Silklash Spider, but I'm thinking about a little more directed creature removal. If anyone has experience with Polukranos, World Eater I'd love to hear about it.
have you tried out rude awakening or arachnogenesis? any decks or spells that have been a pain in the butt as of late? Mono green is sneaky strong, unless it elves which i hope people see coming from a mile again
Of the two, I'd be happier with Arachnogenesis, but even then it's more creature removal I'm after than fog effects. I have Constant Mists which can be downright infuriating for opponents, but otherwise the answer for this deck is something that allows me to maintain a board state in which my opponents don't want to swing, rather than mitigating damage once they do.
Yeah, I thought as much. It might replace Stingerfling Spider in my list, with maybe Silklash Spider as a backup.

EDIT: Just looked at the cards in this list which the Nacatl War-Pride would interact favourably with. Not a huge amount at present - Soul of the Harvest, Elemental Bond, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Karametra's Acolyte. Big draw and big mana are nothing to sniff at, at all.

In:
Tornado Elemental - Good flying cover.
Beast Within - Covers most creatures I might need removed.
Brutalizer Exarch - Good value in both modes
Triumph of the Hordes - Obviously a great win con.
Cloudstone Curio - Pretty degenerate in this deck.
Masked Admirers - Not all that stoked about this one but needed Elvish Visionary elsewhere.
Tilling Treefolk - Synergy with Constant Mists and Architect of the Untamed.
Out:
Genesis Hydra - as fun as it is, it doesn't Wild Pair.
Stingerfling Spider - Have a better option.
Krosan Grip - Split second may well be missed. I was very hesitant to remove this.
Nullmage Shepherd - i have itger options for this effect, and it does nothing on entry.
Elvish Visionary - I'm going to miss it, almost certain.
Goblin Charbelcher - Didn't really fit here well.
Predator, Flagship - I may bring it back at some point.
Mostly good changes, should really help make this a solid deck.

Out:
Forest

Creeping Renaissance has been a dead draw a lot. I have lots of hand recursion with Eternal Witness, Greenwarden of Murasa, Hua Tuo, Honored Physician and so forth so this is probably a dead slot. I've been thinking about Bow of Nylea in this slot. Most of the modes are relevant, but what I'd like it for mostly is to recycle dead creatures for Wild Pair and Woodland Bellower - the deathtouch is gravy though.
