Well, I imagine this kind of deck isn't that big of a surprise. Like Ornithopters, someone, somewhere, will always build a zombie deck. Zombies are plentiful, they don't mind being sent to the graveyard, and if you don't pay attention to their numbers, you're done before you can say, "I take HOW much damage?!?"
They are not without their weaknesses however, and I'm sure I've got some aspects here that could be improved. Advice, as always, is appreciated...this is definitely one of my weaker decks, though it does seem to hit its stride more regularly now...anyway, without further adieu...
Just as a note: yes, I am quite aware that I only have a handful of red spells. And yes, I'm aware that if I moved to ONLY Dimir colors as opposed to Grixis, I could streamline the deck. But I am quite fond of using Thrax and Nicky, among others, so it's unlikely that I'll feel compelled to switch out so much. But if you've got reasons, please list them...you never know.
Ghoulcaller Gisa comes to mind, mainly because of how jacked tokens get with all the Zombie lords you're running. The tokens may be coming out at 5-6 per sacrifice.
In tandem, Vicious Shadows pairs well with Gisa and other sac outlets. Pinging people for their hand size can end games that you may be falling behind in. Also Attrition, thematically but also literally, works well with both the above cards. I like to think of 'heroes' fighting a way through a horde and the horde never really ceases. I run a Gisa mono black 'tribal' and I might put up my list but it's the same idea as I mentioned above.
Rise I think is too expensive for a deck that doesn't have a lot of instants and sorceries, so your Zombie output could be better/reusable. Gisa can take this spot, and can get more on average for less mana. The tokens don't enter tapped either (making Amulet less relevant).
A card like Stronghold Assassin is kinda cool, I don't see a lot of spot removal in your list. Paired with Gravecrawler it can be a soft lock that prevents some generals from seeing much play out of your opponents.
Also both Grave Pact/Dictate of Erebos can help with the removal aspects. Paired with your Fleshbag Marauder it can 2/3 for 1 into an almost board clear (depending on the board state).
Zombie Apocalypse just screams super thematic but also great with a Zombie tribal. But that can just be a 'fun' card.

First off, thanks for the advice!
Gisa I forgot about, and now that I've relaxed my hold on 'zombies only' for my deck, you make a good point, as well as what slot she can take.
Amulet of Vigor I'm not so convinced about. I kind of like having my bounce and refuge type lands ETB usable. But you make a valid point, and I will put that on the watch list.
Stronghold is a good point...only two people play black in my playgroups. I'd tried to get Gravecrawler back in the day, but felt later that I had better zombies to use anyway. Pact and Dictate are also good choices; I have a Pact, but that went into my Merieke deck for shotgunning...maybe I should switch.
In an earlier iteration of this deck, I did have a Zompocalypse in...problem was, I never got to fire it off for any benefit to me, and before too long, people started running less and less humans. Fun thematic card, but I don't see it coming back for the near future at least.
Yeah man, Amulet has value, no doubt, as long as it's an informed decision to keep in, it makes sense to me. I was trying to build a Grixis deck before I forgot to finish it with Thrax or Sedris at the helm. I like the idea of graveyard abuse but, I build far too much and most decks only last a month or two before I move on. I'm still brewing Sedris tho.
Also those Grave Pact effects help make Thrax a bigger threat as well.
Has Relentless Dead come to your attention? It can be great late game with a high level of zombies in the yard. And Dawn of the Dead, I think may be better in the long run to Exhume. That is, unless Exhume does lots of work for you, Dawn paired with an ETB effect/leaving play & a sac outlet, can have cheesy value after board clears.

Sedris was actually my first general for this deck, but I didn't enjoy having him sit out so often. Thrax struck me as(obviously) a more aggressive general, which fit the theme of the deck much better IMO. If I find a spot for him, I might put him back in(maybe swapping him with Exhume as you suggested for Dawn of the Dead...).
I was not, in fact, aware of Relentless Dead, and that is definitely going into the deck when I get one. I will also swap around the Grave Pact back to this deck...I think that will replace the Exhume for the time being. I'll have to find something else to swap for Relentless...
Helldozer: as much as I love the ability I always found, even in a Mono BBB deck, was hard to pay the pips for. Especially in a tri-colour deck (Even though you run Urborg) it may be hard to get that triple B, when you could be tempoing with other stuff.
As always, good points Serberus. One of my playgroups has a bunch of budget players that utilize basics, so it's not that big of a deal, BUT...they're shifting to some non-basics that need answers, as does my other playgroup.
You are correct in that I don't often have the BBB to make multiple swings happen, but it's quite often a response game at that point...just keep swinging with the regular zombies while Helldozer keeps any vicious lands off the board(Westvale Abbey and Dark Depths come to mind, lol). Should I get one of the other suggested cards however, I'll know who to drop first.
True true man, utility lands need answers that B definitely doesn't have, my rationale was that Ghost Quarter & Stripper Mine were to fill that role. As long as there is a way to get it when you need it, then it has a place. Sidisi (still counts as a zombie) can be helpful, possibly in for Diabolic Tutor (only one mana more, and has deathtouch). You run reanimation effects so it should get multi-use out of it. Lol, it also gives Thrax a counter when you exploit, just noticed that.
I think I'm going to add Westvale Abbey to my Gisa deck, it just seems really good with an abundance of tokens.
I'm also a tad bit unsure of Nekusar. As good as he is you have to rely on your opponents having a Consecrated Sphinx in play or other major draw effects that make him a viable threat. IMO he's meta specific, and if I were playing him I wouldn't rely on others to draw more. At times he can be a Lose 2: draw 2 for your opponents which doesn't mean a lot in EDH. He could be another potential cut for you moving forward.
Sidisi is on the trade list. Your points convinced me without argument
Nekusar is there for my draw. Every little bit(both draw and damage) helps, and while a Consecrated Sphinx on my opponent's board would help, that's still a 'may' effect, too. But yeah, "Nekusar is MY assistant, 'he' assists 'me'!"(points if you get the reference). Still, it's always good to ID those that may need to go as time goes on and better zombies see print.
Metallic Mimic can work in tandem with the Automoton, lol works well to synergize with Thrax. I was looking at the AR cards, there are some gems in the set.
- Helldozer = As people can see, Serberus_08 and I have been going in circles about him. If I see nasty lands making a serious comeback, I'll either add him back in, or get the destructo-lands.
+ Phyrexian Reclamation = Another way to recur is rarely a bad thing...
- Dimir Signet = Don't think I need the mana ramp as much in this deck...
+ Underworld Dreams = Adding this to further add value to Nekusar and put the squeeze on people.
- Mountain = See below.
+ Sulfurous Springs = See above.
if you like Nekusar as a card-draw engine, you might try seizan, perverter of truth. nets you more cards and come with a built-in pain clause. with underworld dreams adds up to 5 dmg a turn for your opponents.
that said he's not a zombie (though he kind of looks like one?)
Sounds like an idea to keep in mind. I'll need some more play with the deck to determine who's undead weight yet. And with Nim Deathmantle, I can make Seizan a zombie as needed.
Island swapped for Dismal Backwater. I probably should have swapped out a Swamp instead...I'll have to watch the color balance in the interim.
Rise from the Tides swapped for Swiftfoot Boots. Probably not as important to have haste enablers in this deck, but hexproof can't hurt. And while extra zombies would normally be nice, it is likely true that 13 spells are not quite enough to justify its inclusion. If I were to do it in my Niv deck, on the other hand...
Phyrexian Reclamation for Havengul Runebinder. This is more an experiment right now...I don't think the Runebinder will do well, but I may be surprised. If nothing else, he's fodder for a sac outlet, or an easy swap for one of the other zombie suggestions proposed above.
Redundancy in boosts , plus more utility to help with alpha strikes, got the Lord in over the Runebinder. Most all zombies will be entering at base P/T over 2/2 anyway, and exiling is never something I feel good about being on the receiving end of.
Storage lands tend to be weak, so Reef lost its spot; either you only ever use it for a handful of mana, or someone sees a big spell coming and nukesit anyway. That being said, Aetherworks wasn't originally supposed to go here...but I see a lot of potential with the sacrificing and pumping with Nicky. Seems worth testing, I think.
-Cauldron of Souls = that didn't take long, partly because I saw a better combo in my Merieke deck. I still will keep an eye out for a spare in the future...
+Twilight's Call = THIS could be fun shenanigans if someone wipes my board...
They are not without their weaknesses however, and I'm sure I've got some aspects here that could be improved. Advice, as always, is appreciated...this is definitely one of my weaker decks, though it does seem to hit its stride more regularly now...anyway, without further adieu...
