I was looking for a Gonti deck that leans heavily on Gonti. This means the deck should have a lot of sac outlets, reanimator/reclamation effects, and a decent ETB support. While I really like the list, I wonder if that can be worked in a budget? I don't have Jet Medallion but I do have Cloud Key and Helm of Awakening. Working on a lower budget comes with risks as well, like not having access to Goryo's Vengeance, Necromancy, and the Dark Depths package. The mana rocks would also be worse, but I don't think it matters in a more casual playgroup. Do you mind if I use your list as reference?
Go nuts I am even missing a lot of the stuff you could run on a budget like the other versions of Supernatural Stamina or some of the slower reanimation spells like Victimize or Dread Return
It's Breya's turn, and he casts Merciless Eviction naming Planeswalkers, and states he's more nervous about them than my creatures, and he didn't want to lose what creatures he had.
On my turn, Sheoldred triggers, and I bring back Gary for the win.
Had Breya chose to exile creatures, my line of play would have been GftT to bait out the emblem counter, made enormous mana with Coffers, then drop Lifeline, Ashnod's Altar, and Meteor Golem, followed by Animate Dead and Reanimate on Kokusho and Gary, and then loop with Lifeline/Altar to close out the game.
========================================
I definitely had a blast tonight. I played against two people I never met, made some good friendships, and I'm looking forward to playing more. I'm really glad the second game went the way it did. It played out beautifully.
I'm putting in Entreat the Dead as another reanimation spell that can get back multiple creatures, and Insidious Dreams to help set it up. Oblivion Strike is added for more exile removal and also because of the devoid ability, and Arcane Lighthouse to help deal with shroud/hexproof creatures.
========================================
So I was going through the deck and looking at cards that had an immediate impact upon entering vs those that didn’t, and these are what I came up with:
Sheoldred, Whispering One: Does nothing the turn she comes down. Can be removed before having any effect against an opponent, or before getting back to you and getting a creature back.
Chainer, Dementia Master: Costs 5 to get down, plus another 3 mana and 3 life to get back a creature. The life loss can add up real quick, and also has the negative effect of exiling the creatures he brings back unless we have a sac outlet.
Kokusho, the Evening Star: Does nothing when it comes in. Must die before it has any effect, and you need an infinite mana engine before being able to close out the game.
Wurmcoil Engine: Same as Kokusho. The lifelink alone makes me want to keep it.
Those are the four that really stick out, and I was thinking of these as possible replacements:
Yawgmoth’s Will: Should technically already be in here, but I cut it awhile back to make room for other things.
Phyrexian Delver: Immediately brings back another creature, which could be one that could potentially set us up for a win that same turn.
Thrilling Encore: Gives the deck a bit more resilience from board wipes, and I always like surprise reanimate spells.
I am spinning a Gonti list back up. I kind of went from scratch without looking at any lists when I was putting it back together just so I could kind of see what it would look like starting from scratch after not touching it for a few years. I will see if I can get my list up sometime soon.
Looking at what I am putting together in contrast with what you have though, I feel like I smaller curve with a little more draw and potentially a little more ramp than your current list. I will see if I can get my list finalized and put together here soon.

I pretty much just went all-in on the ETB theme, so more or less wasn't too worried about my curve. Average CMC is 3.65, so it's not too terrible since I don't play in an overly competitive meta.
My one issue that was brought up in another discussion was Torpor Orb. This pretty much shuts down the deck, as I generally generate the infinite mana via ETB token makers, and Gary is an ETB win condition. So I would most likely have to keep Kokusho in here, and utilize Wurmcoil and possibly Su-Chi as an on-death way to generate infinite mana and win with on-death instead of ETB? Hmm...
I am often a fan of Oblivion Stone and potentially Boompile in MBC shells. The ability to sweep things you normally can't interact with seems good to me. Boompile is a card that doesn't get much love but what I really like about it is that opponents need to respond before they see the outcome of if it will pop or not. That means things like regeneration and sac outlets can often be awkward for opponents in that you sort of have to prepair for both outcome options before you get to know which one is happening.
Even just having a single out in this type of deck means that you can potentially draw into a tutor and find your way out.

I'm very hesitant about using wipes like these. I ran O-Stone and Nev Disk for a short time, and while they did do what they were supposed to do, they also took out my board full of goodies. Then it would take multiple tutors to set back up if I even could.
I may have to take a step back and do a lot more reevaluating than I originally thought. The deck runs pretty good right now as it is, but maybe I do need to take a different approach and cut some of the cute things like Undying Evil/Supernatural Stamina and go for more direct reanimation spells. Maybe even try to lower the curve a bit if I can.

I ended said game by looping Meteor Golem with Panharmonicon in play blowing out my opponents defenses and swinging with a bunch of random dudes while using Crypt Ghast to soften them up.

You must be more of a control-ish deck then, instead of ETB abusing? I'm definitely interested in seeing a list, but I'm not sure I can move away from the ETBs. Lol.
Were you looping via Lifeline or Deathmanthle/Altar?

I have both of those in my list but honestly I was kind of taking it defensive and slow. I ended up just looping Gonti and Bloodghast in a slow control defensive position. Kagemaro, First to Suffer + Gonti on defense is kind of hard to be aggressive against.

I haven't used Krav, the Unredeemed outside of being partners (where those two are really gross) but that seems really good in a Grindy Mono-B deck, I might even have to try just him alone.
Krav definitely seems like a good card. Draws cards and gains you life instead of losing it; something that black doesn't do very often it seems. I'm not sure if I run enough creatures to make him useful, or if it's even on theme with ETBs.
I'm honestly having some difficulties deciding whether I want to keep with my current theme of ETB/reanimator, or go a different route. I've played him in a MBC shell before, with things like Contamination/Bitterblossom and Triskelion/Mikaeus, the Unhallowed/Phyrexian Devourer, but I really didn't have as much fun with that version.
The idea I kind of had was just turning him over a bunch with single spot rez while having some mass loop options as well. When you are turning Gonti over frequently then suddenly the idea of drawing a card as well for each of these 1-2 mana rez spells suddenly generates card advantage in that they replace themselves + get you a card from someone else.
I haven't played my rebuild enough to say if thats working for me yet or not though.

Firing from the hip (I am probably wrong / excluding some). This is also me coming back to this with a rough list being I didn't tune it all that accurately.
Infernal Offering does seem kind of clunky. I did try it out and I did cast it (I think twice because someone did a shuffle in wheel). It was ok and I picked someone who was doing like a theme based deck to get a rez in that he didn't get all that much value from the rez. I probably will be cutting that one though when I do some updates to it.

How has Goryo’s Vengeance worked for you? The exile clause won’t effect Gonti much, but if you run any other legendaries, it doesn’t seem that great without a sac outlet, unless you don’t mind losing them?

Understandable. I think I will pick up Goryo's and a few more cards to test out and see how they go.
After playing the deck with the last changes, I have found out something: Insidious Dreams is only really good when Entreat the Dead is still in the deck, and we have creatures in our hand to help set it up. Otherwise, it’s a sub-par tutor card. I wanted to make the deck more resilient to board wipes, so I decided to up the reanimation spells to include Dance of the Dead, Goryo’s Vengeance, Rescue from the Underworld, and Yawgmoth’s Will (which allows us to play even more cards). I also added in other combo creatures in Su-Chi, to help against ETB hate, and Marionette Master, which can win games on her own.
I took out Abhorrent Overlord so we don’t have too many combo creatures, Massacre Wurm got cut simply because Demon of Dark Schemes also reanimates, Oblivion Strike so we don’t take a turn off to remove a creature, and Makeshift Mannequin since the creature can be easily removed by just targeting it. Probably the most controversial cut I made was to remove Sheoldred, Whispering One. She was definitely a hard cut, but she does paint a significant target on her head when she comes out. We mainly used her to reanimate our creatures, and there was a good chance she would be taken care of before it got back to our turn. I opted to remove her for more one-shot reanimation spells in order to hopefully get the curve lowered and give us more shots with other spells.
Perhaps it's already been mentioned, but what about Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed? It seems to be a natural inclusion for what you want to do with the focus on including more recursion for the deck.

Hey there, ben! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
So as far as Xiahou is concerned, I did run him previously, but I was concerned about the cost and timing of using him. If I needed a Damnation out of the graveyard that turn or lose, it would be an 8-cost board wipe.
But maybe I passed him over too quickly. He definitely has good synergy with the deck since he can recur non-creature spells, and would be pretty good with Lifeline, although we’d only be able to get back one card per turn, but we would mitigate the cost of having to cast him or use our reanimation spells on him.
Was there something in the list you saw that you feel would be safe to remove?
I have also been testing a different build of Gonti that focuses less on assembling a winning combo and focuses more on reanimating to gain value. Hopefully I will have concrete changes soon enough.
Nice Guerte! Yes I like those cards too. I've been following your list for a while now. While I enjoy combo, I certainly enjoy the more reanimate/cast big spells kinda game, just personal preference. Really love what you've done with Gonti, excited to see what you come up with!

I played my first two games of commander in over a year tonight, and by first, I mean with physical cards.
Game 1 vs Atraxa Superfriends:
I got stomped pretty hard in this one. Kiora, the Crashing Wave emblem with Ugin, the Spirit Dragon closed out the game on that one.
Game 2 vs Atraxa Superfriends and Breya Artifacts:
This game was awesome. There was a lot of back and forth interactions throughout the game. Atraxa was able to ultimate a Jace, Unraveler of Secrets and Tezzeret, Artifice Master, and we were also under an Ensnaring Bridge.
I'm sitting at 14, Breya at 34, and Atraxa at 35. Atraxa has a Karn Liberated, Teferi, Temporal Archmage, and Atraxa out, along with a couple thopters. My turn, I cast Kokusho, the Evening Star to bait out the emblem counter. I then cast Living Death and bring back Duplicant, Vulturous Aven, Ravenous Chupacabra, Sidisi, Undead Vizier, Rune-Scarred Demon, Kokusho, the Evening Star, Sheoldred, Whispering One, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. I drain each for 16 (I also have a Necropotence out), putting them at 18 and 19 and gain 32 to go to 46. I exploit Gary from Aven, draw 2 and lose 2 down to 44, and then exploit Kokusho from Sidisi, bringing them down to 13 and 14 and me up to 54. I use my two tutors to go grab Ashnod's Altar and Lifeline (the two creature removal effects didn't matter). I then dump 10 life into Necro, sculpt my hand to contain Ancient Tomb, Cabal Coffers, Lifeline, Ashnod's Altar, Go for the Throat, Animate Dead, and Reanimate, and pass.
It's Breya's turn, and he casts Merciless Eviction naming Planeswalkers, and states he's more nervous about them than my creatures, and he didn't want to lose what creatures he had.
Atraxa goes, can't do much, and EOT brings out Teferi, Hero of Dominaria.
On my turn, Sheoldred triggers, and I bring back Gary for the win.

Abnormal Endurance

Sandstone Oracle
Sengir Autocrat
IN:
Arcane Lighthouse
Entreat the Dead
Insidious Dreams
Oblivion Strike
Sengir Autocrat is a bad enabler for the infinite mana combo, as the tokens are only good for making the mana or being blockers. Sandstone Oracle didn't draw as many cards as I had hoped it would. Same goes for Arch of Orazca. Abnormal Endurance was good for what it did, but Undying Evil and Supernatural Stamina did it cheaper.

Marionette Master: Can win the game on her own with Nim Deathmantle and Ashnod’s Altar/Phyrexian Altar with no need for an infinite mana engine (although she is one herself technically).
Shriekmaw: More removal on a creature. Can be cast cheaper via its Evoke cost.
What are your thoughts? Anything I missed?

I opted to remove her for more one-shot reanimation spells in order to hopefully get the curve lowered and give us more shots with other spells.

There was quite a few goodies to be had in WAR. Unfortunately, we can’t play them all. With that being said, the following new cards will be tested:
Kaya’s Ghostform
Finale of Eternity
I have also been testing a different build of Gonti that focuses less on assembling a winning combo and focuses more on reanimating to gain value. Hopefully I will have concrete changes soon enough.
