Hi. First off, I really like your build. I was really psyced when Gitrog was spoiled, but immediately everyone was hyping about the easy ways to go inifite with froggy, and I was just thrown away from ever building him. But I just recently traded for a copy, which got me to look for a build - and I came across this one, which have giving some good inspiration for sure. But I don't think Deserted Temple and Petrified Field have been discussed. Since your tutor-targets most likely is Coffers+Urborg, wouldn't it be nice to have a way to exploit the coffers even more? Petrified Field seems like a great land-recursion, that happens to cantrip when it goes to the yard.
How have Ob Nixilis, the Fallen been preforming? He looks decent, but I'm not sure if he pulls his weight. Even with all those extra lands per turn, the drainlife seems slower then Exsanguinate/Torment of Hailfire.
And I've seen you've been on the 'fence about Death Cloud - go ahead, run it. It absolutely wracks boards. If casual vs. competetive is your concern, I think your Dust Bowl/Strip Mine is even meaner

Thank you. The main concern over Deserted Temple is that it's yet another colorless land in a deck with a metric ton of colorless lands. I think back when I ran Exsanguinate such a card was probably needed to hit lethal thresholds, but with Torment of Hailfire I don't need nearly as much coffers mana to win a game now.
Ob Nixilis, the Fallen is used to focus down the most threatening player as it is one of the most direct ways of eliminating a problematic player. This list doesn't have a lot of win conditions so I can't really afford to cut down on any that are efficient with the deck.
As for Death Cloud, I've recently tested Mindslicer, and I've been so happy with it that I could see this card working, but I don't want people to hate this deck even more than they already do. Even just doing it for x=4 makes most people lose their hands, boards, and a majority of their lands, while this deck is often in a position to have significantly more lands than opponents.
Also, I reserve repeated Strip Mining for the players who really, really deserve it.
Thanks for your reply. I guess I don't intend to run that many colorless lands. I choose not to run off-color fetches, flavorwise, though I know it would make the deck better.
Nice to hear that Torment of Hailfire is preforming well. Looking forward getting my copy in the mail
And yeah, you have to tread lightly when playing with other peoples lands. The salt may start to flow.

You can probably fit it in if you aren't playing a metric ton of land destruction colorless lands like I am. Coffers is mostly used to do 3 things:
A) Recast frog in the face of lots of removal
B) Play finishers while still holding up removal or the X spell.
C) Go nuts with Yawgmoth's Will.
I got to play a few games finally with the frog and it was a great time (for me). My first game I powered out an early deadbridge chant and it literally won me the game. Now I will admit I was lucky that the RNG gods were on my side I have certainly seen the card do very little. In a 1/11 chance I was given an avenger of zendikar (5 plants). I then played frog. Next turn with both triggers on the stack I sack a land and dredge stinky (thanks to chant) and in another RNG luck (approx 1/16 chance) I was given an ulvenwald hydra to find me a land (forgot what it was), demonic for a crucible, fetch 2 more times, draw a bunch of cards, and then literally kill everyone with comically huge plants in 1 turn.
If you don't mind some elements of randomness I think chant is a fine card. The card is also great if you have ways to prune the GY but I'm assuming most people don't. Even if it does nothing else, milling 10 is usually pretty good. I'm off to make a cat deck now. I love this deck but it won't make you many friends haha
Do you think any of the cardsin Ixalan, namely Growing Rites and Thaumatic Compass? Are worth a slot in the deck?
Don't lose your head over Growing Rites. The card is good, but this list actually has a low creature density so it is difficult to take advantage of either of the two sides.
Thaumatic Compass is decent. We can flip it quite easily, but the front side is practically worthless to us, and being unable to tutor for it is a major downside. If you need it, Maze of Ith is an option, but Maze doesn't tap for mana. That never stopped some people from playing it.
Woo boy, I'm throwing this right into my list. I'm not sad about seeing another Splendid Reclamation in the deck.
Yeah, I'm in the process of building a Gitrog deck and got super excited about this. Wayward Swordtooth is also a great addition or budget version of Azusa, Lost but Seeking
World Shaper is a solid card when you pack your appropriate land-based sacrifice outlets and it makes such cards more appealing. You want to be able to kill him at any time to make it into a Splendid Reclamation. The mill I don't particularly value. Having these land-based sacrifice outlets are good against theft and when you pack Mindslicer.
Wayward Swordtooth is a budget choice. Exploration effects can be powerful as long as you fuel them. However, three mana is a lot to pay for simply one extra land play.
Wayward Swordtooth is a green sun's zenithable exploration effect that doesn't die to incidental damage (e.g. Sword of Fire and Ice, Jitte) so I'll almost surely play it just for redundancy. I can usually make use of as many land drops as I can get but I play a somewhat more lands focused game than most builds of Gitrog.
I think world Shaper is going to be insane. The incentive to attack with it and the value you get from that makes it so often you will not care if it gets sac'd or not as people will let you just keep drawing cards by attacking--and if they block, they block Probably good enough to play even with minimal sac outlets I think.
I am all aboard both these 2 new cards. I do worry about how difficult it is to trigger ascend reliably. Just makes this card a late game card which I'm not sure I need more of but I do like the redundancy it does give. I'm going to try it as honestly I like it more than azusa at first glance. I find her to be too hit or miss. I'm sure I'm wrong but gonna try it anyways.
I really love world shaper honestly depending on the style of deck I can see it being a fine value card as well as just a completely busted combo piece. I play with death cloud and smallpox and a ton of value mill cards and I want to live the dream.

I finally had world shaper do some work the other night. At opponent's end of turn I used my own go for the throat to kill him and get back dark depths and thespian stage. World shaper gets the thumbs up from me.
- Nissa's Pilgrimage
- Tireless Tracker (Honestly never really ended up needing the card draw. If I'm hitting lands, I'm drawing cards)
- Dust Bowl (never ended up using it much)
Good optional win condition choices now include Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar. I like it more than Centaur Vinecrasher because it is on average bigger (2-shot range) and doesn't die off completely to a random piece of grave hate.
Her advantages:
- She draws cards off of her ramp and playing basics, and double off of fetches. She draws more than Gitrog
- Being in blue gives her access to counterspells. Usually better than discard, but not always.
- The lifegain off of landfall is not insignificant.
Disadvantages
- Fewer perks than Gitrog. Not having access to coffers is HUGE. We also have better boardwipes and have tutors.
- Fewer viable win conditions. We also have tutors to get them.
- More vulnerable to disruption than Gitrog. If frog dies, as long as you diligently make land drops, you will always have the option of recasting him. Doing so is also trivial with coffers setup. With Tatyova, that doesn't happen. Also, if you take out all of the cards that give her extra land drops, she is weaker.
I think Multani is pretty solid as a 2-turn clock once you're in firm control of the game. It doesn't cost you two lands and isn't chumpable unlike Dark Depths. I'm just examining my ratios and seeing what would be worse than that card.
I feel that Mending is a little slow, but it is nice that the lands enter untapped.
I've been using Seasons Past, and it's been incredible every time I cast it. Generally gets me 5-7 cards back each time. It's definitely worth a slot if you can find room.
Seasons' Past is a good card, and probably what most people use here rather than Yawgmoth's Will. The former is more dependably grindy and probably better, the latter is more explosive.
Had another few games and sadly I lost the games, due to the fact, that I didn't draw any wincon. The deck draws cards like crazy but if 1/2 wincons aren't drawn or get removed in a game of 4 I kinda am stuck with drawing lands...
It feels like there are 1-3 lands that I could cut for adding a wincon? What's your opinion?
The list is pretty flexible and cutting a land shouldn't hurt too much. Definitely add new Multani.. I need to find a spot for him myself.
I've had pretty good luck playing a couple eldrazi (worldbreaker, emrakul the promised end, nulamog, kozilek) and eye of ugin as wincons; this allows you to tutor for a win with a land which is pretty nice. In my experience a resolved Emrakul wins most games, and it's pretty easy to set up looping it if you desire. It exposes you to bribery a little, but so does just having Kozilek which we need.
I've killed the table with a combo player with Emrakul more than once.
Hi everyone, Im just working on a non-infinite Gitrog list myself and I really like many of the ideas presented here.
Can somebody explain to me, how dakmor salvage is used outside of 'the' typical combo (combo with discard outlet like skirge/mongrel) and 'just' for value? Can't you still go more or less infinite with it if you bin it during your clean up even without an unspecific instant-speed discard outlet?
Its pretty powerful just binning it to Gitrog during your upkeep, where you'll typically end up drawing it plus two cards each turn.
How have Ob Nixilis, the Fallen been preforming? He looks decent, but I'm not sure if he pulls his weight. Even with all those extra lands per turn, the drainlife seems slower then Exsanguinate/Torment of Hailfire.
