ThatSignal and I were discussing the technological singularity and which generals might be ideal choices to command a flavorful theme deck around the concept.
DECK CREATION
We quickly decided that the commander had to have U in their color identity. was determined to be too restrictive for a post-singularity world; too secretive for the free flow of ideas to be found in such a world; too focused on mechanical technology. We considered three-color and five-color commanders, but eventually landed on Kruphix, with Vorel of the Hull Clade coming in a close second.
The following is my take on capturing the concept of the technological singularity in a commander deck.
Since my understanding of the singularity is that it's about the exponential rate of technological progress the future (hopefully) holds, I elected to make charge counters a subtheme. The idea here is the counters build up slowly over time, until I'm able to add more and more each turn, to infinity (and beyond). While the deck has several win conditions, my favorite consists of going off with Darksteel Reactor in one turn. March of the Machines flavorfully represents computers gaining self awareness and rising up. (The fact that it combos beautifully with everything containing or being comprised of nanites is just icing on the silicon cake.)
DECK ARCHETYPE
The Technological Singularity is a combo deck through and through.
Its early turns are typically spent ramping before winning in one go. Like the overwhelming majority of my decks, it doesn't need to cast its commander to win, but Kruphix's Omnath 1.0 ability does help it win faster. With as little as eight mana and the right cards, the deck can end the game.
DECK THEMES
charge counters matter
's "infinite possibility"
mana rocks everywhere
counter (charge, loyalty, etc.) manipulation
DECK STRATEGY
RAMP

The Technological Singularity is primarily concerned with its own progress. Its interactions with itself are what matters. Most everything else is tertiary at best.
