I have to find space to test Splendid Reclamation. I had taken out Pox and Death Cloud but thanks to this card I may have to put them back in. On that note, I want to definitely test Throne of the High City. I get a sacrifice trigger and become the monarch, which means I get to draw a card at the beginning of my end step. Pretty cool. Oh, and it provides without entering the battlefield tapped. There aren't many other cards that caught my eye with Conspiracy 2 but then again there are so many cards that fit this commander's archetype that I had to make two different approaches, after all, lol.

I think it also invites some form of land package. I have put my artifact version on the way back burner, but it's still going. I think this could open you up to considering Living Plane soon. That route was always the most threatening at tables I played at (which included stuff like Narset, which I recall you worrying about because Lands can cover Edict costs). That issue was covered by the fact you just had to sac enough lands to get their leaders. With the mana dork route hitting 4 mana even after wiping lands isn't that bad. I just really think that route is one of the most competitive because it takes changes the role of creature board wipes, which are honestly the only issue in effecting the deck's board progression.
PS I'm so glad you posted here because I kind of forgot about it leaving the shell left behind with my brother once I could finally play Doom's Ghave primer. It isn't the most competitive, but it gets to play at those sort of "casual tables" while still being butt loads of fun with a million of interactive pieces.
Yeah, now I'm considering making a Lands Matter deck with Mazirek, lol. It's really hard to fit so many cards together, honestly. I would have to take away some cards in order to find space for Living Plane (and Nature's Revolt for redundancy or just Nature's Revolt because Living Plane is very expensive), Splendid Reclamation, Pox, and Death Cloud. I think this route could make it pretty brutal because my lands being creatures can immensely benefit from the +1/+1 counters. Also, Embodiment of Insight means being able to attack with a massive army all while not depriving myself of the lands. I think this could be an excellent suite in the Artifact Build because one of my concerns was not having as many creatures to benefit from the counters coming from artifact tomfoolery. But, if my lands are also creatures, things can great pretty ridiculous pretty quickly. To the drawing board!

My exact line of thought. You also open a few slots for more removal, and Toxic Deluge is at perhaps its most dangerous potential. I have def paid an extra 3 life to make sure something died even despite some impossible factor I couldn't think of when using to to hit Narset or something similar, but paying 1 life to land wipe opponents for 3 mana is just bonkers and in most cases, causes the scoop. Recognizing that he cant quite sit with the best really opens up how he plays. Pushing the average win clock back 3-4 turns really changes the whole game plan. One or two extra turns of preperation could really let this deck shine. We can play overrun without actually running any creatures...

Alright, so I did some tinkering and here're the changes I made in the Artifact Build:
Another thing that can be downright brutal is the fact that Archfiend of Depravity will make all opponents sacrifice lands as well if they're also creatures due to Living Plane, so that's always a plus. It will paint a large target on my head, though, but it's worth a shot. Besides, I'll have more than enough blockers with my own lands for any possible onslaught. Also, if any of my lands die, they'll trigger The Gitrog Monster. I gotta test these changes more but for the moment, I feel confident that these changes are in the build's best direction.

If you're adding a Lands package, Scapeshift feels like a great add too. If you Scapeshift with Living Plane and a Grave Pact out, that's likely the game on the spot. Not to mention you get to go looking for any land to replace the ones you sacced, and oh hey what's this Splendid Reclaimation doing here...
Yeah, I was considering adding Scapeshift way before any of these other cards existed (The Gitrog Monster, Splendid Reclamation, etc.) but now that you mention how abusive it can be when my lands are also creatures I just gotta have it!

Not sure I can take this deck list seriously if you're going to not include arc bound ravaged.
Arcbound Ravager is OK if I had lots of artifact creatures but it's not really necessary given all the +1/+1 counters I can put on all my creatures at once. Besides, if there were a single creature I would want to transfer the +1/+1 counters to it would be Mazirek, and it's not an artifact creature.

I've already tried Hangarback Walker and Hooded Hydra but found them as just winmore. Triskelion is something I would try but if I cut Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord which can directly damage all opponents I don't think I'll rack my brain finding a slot for Triskelion. That's not to say that it would be great in the deck - I know people should be able to take advantage of it, but it's just not for me. Honestly, there's just an overwhelming amount of cards that are great for Mazirek, which is one of the reasons I had to just play two different versions of the deck - and even then there's still so many possibilities.

Hangarback and Reclaimer are in my artifact build. From my stand point (one that is more on paper than actual games) an artifact heavy build is pretty good. I use the dork/land package as well, they feel the most staple part of the deck. I don't pull him out for serious games, but he's really good in that awkward meta that's kind of casual but still sees ridiculous plays and combos. I admit it's primary reason for creation was just lots of interactions that can lead to combos based on Mazirek's ability, but it holds out pretty damn well in games that don't have some 4-6 turn clock. It has lots of resilience and isn't dependent on the commander for survival, and he can make combos, fuel tons draw/recursion effects, and can provide an alpha strike. I think for what black/green is so stapled into, Maz gives tons of options while still feeling super flavorful and on point with his colors.

I know youre waiting for the set to finish before a review, but this is totally cementing the artifact build as the most interesting/fun way to build Mazz
Yes, there's a lot of artifacts in Kaladesh that are making the artifact build into something spectacular. I still have to test it some more because again, the lack of creatures means that most of the sacrificed artifacts are in vain. The creature-heavy build has so far been way more oppressing.

Lol, yes, I was seeing how it's very easy for this card to facilitate going infinite. That, and on it's own it's quite broken here! What really has me salivating though is Aetherworks Marvel. Talk about broken. How often is this thing gonna let me cast stuff for free?? How about all the time! Combined with Viscera Seer I get to basically topdeck whatever I want to cast for free - literally! The interactions in this deck are so bonkers and broken that you can very easily just accidentally step into an infinite combo out of the blue (well, not an automatic infinite combo - a controlled infinite combo; still, infinity is infinity).

Aetherworks Marvel is very cool too, but I'm not as excited for it. Sacrificing six permanents already gets us +6/+6 on everything, and while a free spell is great I don't think there's any one card in my build that ends things on the spot; I run a creature-centric version much like the one you posted in your original post. I'll likely still end up including it, but it doesn't get my motor running like Animation Module.

Clearly, there are some that I want to find a permanent home for like Animation Module, Armorcraft Judge, and Eliminate the Competition. I have to do some serious testing to see what changes I ultimately make. When Oracle updates Cockatrice, I plan on swapping in those 3 in place of Tribute to the Wild, Thought Vessel, and something else I'd have to test for.

I haven't had much time to devote to Mazirek lately but I have made some changes and am currently testing them out. I hope to post them soon! Also, I know it's taking me a while to get this thread in Primer format but I'm currently working on my Polukranos, World Eater primer and my part of a collective primer for Zada, Hedron Grinder.
