Thanks for the feedback. I will see if I have cards to use a different commander, since I don't have any 1v1 decks built. If I don't, then I'll just run Mazirek and hope for the best.

Looks like it is Duel rules (French Commander) so players start with 20 health. From what I've read aggro is pretty good and I have most of the cards for playing Zurgo Bellstriker burn so I will try that

That seems like a better approach, honestly. It would take some time to even try and make Mazirek viable in a French environment. But with so many better options I think it's best to go with another legend entirely and just leave Mazirek for the multiplayer scene.

I'm surprised that Altar of the Brood has not been mentioned. Wouldn't this work in the same fashion as bitter ordeal when you go infinite with persist?

Does anyone have plans to try Grunn, the Lonely King ? Looks like it may be a good replacement for some of the high end in the creatures build
Grunn isn't impacting at all in this deck. There are already so many great cards cut for lack of space or synergy compared to better cards; Grunn, the Lonely King has neither for this deck.

I wonder if Marwyn, the Nurturer could make it in or if it ends up being win more. It's basically a not as good Gyre Sage. But there are a few elves in the deck already to kick start the mana ramp on it. Even without a boost it can still get you from 3 to 5 mana for Mazirek and then it just goes nuts like Gyre Sage.
I agree on considering all those cards you guys mentioned. I've yet to be able to sit down and analyze Dominaria's potential for all my decks. Once I do I'll have those analysis up on all my threads.

The Eldest Reborn - Although overcosted, it has a relevent ability when it enters the battlefield. And it's final ability is a great reanimation effect. However, I don't think it's sufficiently impacting for any of the competitive builds.
Rite of Belzenlok - Creates two tokens with it's first two counters and then creates another token with a triggered sacrifice ability. It's not super impacting but it's good for the casting cost. That being said, it's not good enough for any of the competitive builds.
Thallid Omnivore - Unfortunately there are better creatures that pump themselves with a sacrifice outlet because they're cheaper to cast and their sac outlet is free.
Thallid Soothsayer - An okay casting cost and a draw engine for a sacrifice outlet. Although costing 2 each time, you're still able to draw a card from it. Depending its price, it could definitely go in the Budget Build.
Torgaar, Famine Incarnate - You could potentially sacrifice all of your creatures just to cast it. It also makes any player's lifetotal become 20. However, I still don't consider as an autoinclude. It can definitely be tested though. For what, though?
Whisper, Blood Liturgist - Definitely a great card for the deck! Provides two sacrifice triggers and you're able to reanimate a creature card from your graveyard - all without a mana investment!
Marwyn, the Nurturer - Costs 1 more than Gyre Sage but it can tap for mana without having +1/+1 counters on it. I wouldn't consider it an immediate swap, but it could definitely be tested.
Song of Freyalise - This card is beyond broken here. All my creatures can tap for mana and then they get an epic series of boons when the third ability activates.

Cryptolith Rite doesn't need to be sacrificed after three turns. That being said, the boon Song of Freyalise gives with the 3rd lore counter is ridiculous. On top of that, it gives you a sacrifice trigger when it does. So I'd go with Song of Freyalise.

Hey DimentedKirby can you update the deck lists and the notes on the first post with the latest changes? It's still showing the deck using Organ Harvest and I know that was removed.

Yeah, I haven't been able to update the list in quite some time. Hopefully I'll be able to give more attention to it after next week.
Battlebond definitely has some goodies for most of my decks. I haven't had time to sit down and analyze all that this new set offers Mazirek, but I will definitely write up an analysis eventually. Hopefully after next week I'll be able to update the OP.

Pir, Imaginative Rascal - Basically Hardened Scales on a body that counts every permanent and counter instead of just creatures and +1/+1 counters. Definitely worth considering since he can essentially "double" the amount of +1/+1 counters being added on creatures. And the few planeswalkers in the deck get an additional loyalty counter when they enter the battlefield.
Bramble Sovereign - Too broken to not include. Being able to copy creatures like Fleshbag Marauder and its ilk or even mana dorks and utility creatures.
Pir's Whim - Definitely gonna be included. I can help myself to ramp (and teammates, too) while also getting sacrifice triggers off of opponents. (Organ Harvest should've definitely gotten a functional reprint in this set.)
Krav, the Unredeemed - Although his partner can't be included, she's not needed. His ability is beyond broken here. The cost is super low, I draw cards, gain life, and pump Krav. Not only that, but it's with a sacrifice outlet.
Thrilling Encore - Great follow up to cards like Pox and Death Cloud or just a massive sacrifice spell in general. However, it's pretty much a strictly situational card. Definitely worth considering, though.
Virtus's Maneuver - Costs less than Barter in Blood and is more dimensional as well, although the former gets more sacrifice triggers than the latter does.

It's been a while since I've been able to play with the deck or analyze and actual changes to it. So, here are the latest changes I'm going to test in the Creatures Matters Build once I can get cards from Battlebond:
Each card swapped in has an average CMC of 4.0, meaning that I might've made the deck a bit slower. However, I feel that the changes are better overall. Here's my logic:
Whisper, Blood Liturgist for Mana Vault: This swap may seem odd since Mana Vault is an incredible mana rock. However, I found myself only really using it to cast an early Mazirek. If it came late game it didn't really push the strategy any further. Since the card doesn't do much in all stages of the game, I decided to swap it out. I'm already running enough mana dorks plus Sol Ring and Mana Crypt which are also easier to use than Mana Vault.
Bramble Sovereign for Ruthless Knave: It's not that Ruthless Knave was underperforming. When it worked it was great because it gave me a sacrifice outlet all while providing 2 Lotus Petals. So I was able to invest in mana for a later moment at the end of an opponent's turn and get more sacrifice outlets as well. However, Bramble Sovereign is just too broken and needed a slot. With Bramble Sovereign I can get way more mileage out of my self-sacrificing creatures as well as duplicating any creature for a mere 1G.
Pir's Whim for Dark Ritual: When silver-bordered cards stopped being legal, I has swapped in Dark Ritual for Organ Harvest (why did this not get a functional reprint in Battlebond? it's practically worded the same). But, similar to Mana Vault, Dark Ritual doesn't really have any impact beyond the early game. Pir's Whim is just an all around amazing card - especially in multiplayer commander. I get to ramp for any land while also getting sacrifice triggers. It definitely needed a slot.
Krav, the Unredeemed for From Beyond: It's not that From Beyond was underperforming, but compared to Krav, it's a swap that's pretty worth it. I'm still running Awakening Zone which has a similar effect to From Beyond while also costing 1 less. Krav brings a lot to the table: drawing cards, gaining life, getting ridiculously huge, while also giving me X sacrifice triggers. Its inclusion is definitely a no-brainer.
Virtus's Maneuver for Wrap in Vigor: Out of the reactive protection spells I run, Wrap in Vigor is the most one-dimensional of them. I'm generally drawing quite a lot of cards in the deck and I'm going to still be running Golgari Charm, Heroic Intervention, and Inspiring Call. Virtus's Maneuver is definitely a great inclusion in its place since I can Disentomb a creature card from my graveyard while having my opponents sacrifice a creature. Definitely the kind of card I'm looking for this deck.

Well I can see how it can be useful as an alternate wincon. But Bitter Ordeal performs much better at milling opponents than Altar of the Brood. If an opponent had Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre or Kozilek, Butcher of Truth in their decks then Altar of the Brood wouldn't do much.

I wouldn't want a dumb beater when Mazirek can turn all your dorks and tokens into big dumb beaters already.

Also, Song of Freyalise or Cryptolith Rite? Any input you can provide is appreciated.
If you're doing consistent recursion, Kozilek's Predator will give you a more controlled way of getting tokens since Master of the Wild Hunt triggers during your upkeep whereas the former triggers upon entering the battlefield. That being said, if you're looking for sacrifice fodder for Garruk, the Veil-Cursed, Master of the Wild Hunt can consistently give you one each upkeep. However, if you're consistently recurring Kozilek's Predator, you're getting more sacrifice triggers than with Master of the Wild Hunt. At the end of the day, since it's more hoops to jump through, Master of the Wild Hunt + Garruk, the Veil-Cursed is more consistent as a combo.
Cryptolith Rite doesn't need to be sacrificed after three turns. That being said, the boon Song of Freyalise gives with the 3rd lore counter is ridiculous. On top of that, it gives you a sacrifice trigger when it does. So I'd go with Song of Freyalise.

I have considered Diabolic Intent but it's a one-time tutor effect and I don't play the better tutors like Vampiric Tutor nor Demonic Tutor. I would rather run more consistent tutoring cards like Razaketh, the Foulblooded.
