I have an updated decklist that I'm posting for my records. I feel like my final list is becoming a little bit more coherent and I'm playing all the spells I really just love. There's a good blend of flavor, efficiency, and nostalgia for me with my list that works for me.
There are three cards I would like to include, but just don't know what to cut: Void Winnower, Mana Reflection, and Alhammarret's Archive. They're all pretty awesome, but the first one I want to test is the Winnower. Other reanimator decks out there have had great success with it so far and I want to test the Winnower as well.
I recommend incorporating elements of Reanimator, at least, because Tasigur's mill ability naturally lends to that kind of strategy. Activate his ability, pick up the card you need to stop that opponents play over there, Reanimate your binned fattie later.
My friend tried something similar and what usually ends up happening is you have your reanimation targets put back in your hand. I think Tassy is better for the control game.
I think because of the success of Dies' decklist, actually, people are expecting Mimeoplasm to be a hella fast Reanimator build and grumbling.
...Siiiiiiggghhh....
Wait...what did you mean by that last part?
Tl;dr
You guys make me sad

Hey guys so I've actually moved on from commander on to 60 card decks so I don't have any commander decks.
Anyway I've started my own gameplay channel in which I play games (Magic also)

I guess its subject to play style, I never could win with Mimeo, but Tasigur seems to be my deck. I managed to take 2 of the 3 games I played this week after a 3-4 week losing streak with my Momir and Sharuum decks. It seems like the more money I put into my Sharuum deck the more I lose with it.
Interestingly enough, I have a Tasigur deck as well, but it's a toned down durdly land-based deck. Somehow I still get hated out despite other players playing similar deck styles and getting away with it.
I guess it's because they remember all those times they died out of nowhere by a 40 power Savage Ventmaw. But that's another deck. It's like a weird psychological phenomenon.
Oh right. I killed two players out of nowhere with a humongous Savage Ventmaw.. That's probably why I died horribly playing lands with Tasigur the next game..
In any case I kept reanimator instead of toning it down with Tasigur.. Because it won't make a psychological difference in our playgroup. I made a single move to draw 12 while in last place today and it was enough of an excuse for someone to kill me over everyone else, despite the fact that they'd be more likely to have answers to his board.
I'm on a losing streak too, but it is the mostly the cause of perceptive threat level and the large player environment. On the plus side, Tas managed to stop a visitor's Kozilek deck that managed to be an ass and play turn 2 Winter Orb (I prevented a turn 2 Kozilek + orb). When I can actually get people on my side, it works!
While I was away from my playgroup for a while when I was getting married, they had a get together to evaluate the ban list. It was decided by them that Primeval Titan, Recurring Nightmare, and that stupid blue enchantment that counters the first spell of every turn were not worthy of staying banned. I was incredulous. So I decided to break these newly unbanned cards to let them remember why they should be banned in the first place. I haven't lost a game yet, and Prime Time is really fun.
Dies, your decklist is brutal. The end. It's popped up in my meta a few times and so whenever someone talks about a Mimeo list it's always assumed that it's some iteration of yours, with maybe an infect twist.
So I played another game with Tasigur, the Golden Fang using the most recent list I posted. In evaluating my list, the all-star card of my deck, without equivocation, is Primeval Titan. Most of the time he just fixes my mana the first time he enters the battlefield and then finds Urborg + Coffers on his second trigger. But his ramp is invaluable because I'm running such a land light list. If I were ever to go to a new meta where the Rules Committee banlist is observed I would want to add more lands in favor of the banned cards that I am normally playing.
I also realized that Mindbreak Trap is not as good as I thought it was. For one reason or another, I had read it as if your opponent's have cast three or more spells this turn, Mindbreak Trap is free. It's still good because it gets around uncounterable lands, like Boseiju, Who Shelters All and Cavern of Souls and also stops the very powerful and consistent Azami Storm deck deck that depends on Mind's Desire. But it's 4CMC and I think I'd rather have Remand or a proxied Mana Drain instead. Hmm. Decisions.
The game report is for Animar, Oona, Tasigur, Derevi, Derevi
This 5 man game was pretty short, all things considering. Animar went first and because of a few well-timed wraths was playing control. Yeah. That’s weird. Animar has a slow start with no T1 mana dork and Oona follows suit with Sensei’s Top. I play a land with Mystical Tutor and Brainstorm in hand along with Arcane Denial. There were two Derevi decks at the table, but they weren’t any Stax versions that are difficult to play against. My brother is playing one Derevi and plays pretty well. The other Derevi deck, not so much. Anyways, Animar plays a T3 Animar, Oona plays Living Death on his T4 after playing a Mind Stone on his T3. I had drawn into Toxic Deluge, so there were plenty of Wraths on the table. After the Living Death, I drew Frantic Search with Victimize in hand. I Serached, and drew into Primeval Titan and Consecrated Sphinx. I had enough cards in the ‘yard to Delve Tasigur into play then sac him to Victimize. No one had responses and I had Prime Time fix my mana base. And Consecrated Sphinx drew me many cards. The table passed, with my brother’s Derevi deck abusing Aura Shards and creatures. After a while, no artifacts were played. The other Derevi attacked with a Brago and did some interesting things. Animar, who had played a Sylvan Library was burning through his life like a boss and was a 9 life or something. Oona Gilded Drakes my Prime Time. On my turn, I Phantasmal Image my stolen Prime Time, swing at Animar to bring him down to 2 life with my Drake and Sphinx and then Deluge the board. Animar now costs 7 cmc and people rebuild their boards and the game generally slows down. I had drawn into Havengul Lich with all sorts of goodies in my ‘yard. But then Oona plays Tezzeret the Seeker and tutors for Tormod’s Crypt. Lame. Havengul Lich eventually wins me the game, though, and there were two lines that I could have done to do so, which I will describe. So the game kind of stagnates with me having all the control and my brother’s Derevi keeping all artifacts and enchantments except the ones he controls dead. I had played Tasigur and activated his ability once to mill Palinchron and Beast Within into my ‘yard. The table gives me the Beast Within but it doesn’t especially matter since I have Havengul Lich. With my Urborg + Coffers combo that I Prime Time’d earlier in the game, I’m looking pretty good for mana. Animar and the other Derevi deck don’t do much, and on Oona’s turn he kills his Tezzeret to find Phyrexian Metamorph to copy my brother’s Gilded Lotus. He then attempts to cast Palinchron in an attempt to go off. I have two counters in hand and plenty of mana, but I know my brother and Oona both have responses to Oona’s Palinchron and any counters that throw down. And then Animar responds by Draining Whelking Oona’s Palinchron. So all the blue players that have counterspells, potentially are tapped out. The other Derevi had played Deadeye Navigator on his turn and when I looked at all the ‘yards I saw Phantasmal Image in Animar’s yard and Oona’s Palinchron. I can Lich Animar’s Image as a copy of Derevi’s Deadeye, Lich Oona’s Palinchron and then proceed to win because I have Cryptic Command, Beast Within and Reality Shift in hand. I make infinite mana with Palinchron pieces without using any of my own cards. But I could also reanimate my own Palinchron and go infinite with just my lands because Urborg + Coffers generates enough mana and I have enough blue sources. Or I could kill the other Derevi’s Deadeye with Beast Within and reanimate it with my Lich. Either way, I make infinite mana, Beast Within the board, attack to kill Animar, and then Reality Shift everyone’s decks away. Reanimator Control wins again!
So I played another game with Tasigur, the Golden Fang using the most recent list I posted. In evaluating my list, the all-star card of my deck, without equivocation, is Primeval Titan
Look at the card. Now back to Jace. Now back to that card, now back to Jace! Sadly, it isn't Jace, but if it stopped being a junk rare and became relevant, it could act like it's Jace. Crack some Worldwake. What do you have? You have a Jace, the card you wish this card could be like. Look again. THE CARD IS NOW A $75 BILL. Anything possible when you play Magic with Jace and not junk rares. This is probably spam.
This is true. My playgroup decided to unban him and Recurring Nightmare while I was getting married over the summer. He is definitely one of the strongest cards in my deck, but ironically he doesn't break any of our games. He catches me up in mana mostly, as my playgroup loves their Mana Crypts and other cheap and fast mana rocks. He fixes my mana and ensures I keep my land drops coming, which is really nice because I run a land light list.
In other news, Dies_to_Doom_Blade has converted his Mimeoplasm list over to Tasigur. I will henceforth be abandoning this thread as A) this thread is relatively inactive 2) my list more closely resembles his Reanimator list in strategy and build 3) Tasigur is much better as a Reanimator general in my opinion anyways. To all who play the pure Tasigur control, I bid thee adieu and best of luck!
Not that I know Avvina personally, but he was on the Primer Committee and dropped out because he stopped coming onto the site. So I'm going to assume that the list will not get updated anytime soon.
I really enjoyed reading this thread and is hereby trying to revive it.
I am fairly new to commander but have a tasigur deck built, however, I seem to find so many ways to build this so Im trying it out in all the ways I can.
Is there any new must have cards thats been released recently that should be in Tasigur EDh deck?
