I'm quite happy with where mine is at as well about the only "problem" I have had is how often tutor > mindslicer > kill the hands is the best line considering I'm pulling this out aginst players who expect a long game. Last game I played was sweet though had mama crypt+ map opener and started using reclamation + phyrexisn tower + solemn simulacrum and just went to town by the time I pulled grey merchabt I just slipped him in where I had the robot. The deck is just loads of fun to play in general though I actually have a few replays of it on mtgo recorded I'll upload when I'm less lazy.
Yeah I definitely look forward to watch your replays if you decide to upload them!
Mindslicer is definitely good but it's probably easier to pull off with fast mana (banned in French banlist) than it is with my current version, since it usually comes into play on turn 6 or 7 in my deck. Still good though.
The deck is resilient and I like how I can deal with pretty much everything (besides Gods maybe).
My own rules when building a Commander deck:
1) Underrated general that I can build around but the deck must work without him/her too.
2) Every card must be legal in both banlists.
3) No infinite combo that could win (and ruin) instantly a multiplayer game.
4) Synergy at all costs; stay on theme, avoid goodstuff.
Dark Petition
I prefer Grim Tutor overall because I usually tutor a land or a really cheap creature/reanimation spell. But for those on a budget that are still playing Diabolic Tutor, it's definitely a good option.

This is a really minor change, but still. Thawing Glaciers isn't doing enough in this deck, and I'm currently working on a Patron of the Moon list with Amulet of Vigor, where Thawing Glaciers is a lot better as you can imagine (one free land during each opponent's turn, yay). I will go with Myriad Landscape instead since it still ramp, it's good with Cabal Coffers, it produces mana by itself.
A little note on Bloodghast, because I'm trying really hard to justify not playing 4 fetch lands only for recurring Bloodghast at instant speed post-boardwipe during my opponent's turn. Besides the price and the fact that I hate having to wait until EOT to fetch, fetch lands also thin the deck, which can be both a good and a bad thing. It is a good thing if I play more than 37 lands. But as is, it is more a bad thing, because I increase the chances of missing land drops, and it's not something we want in this format. The list is pretty tight currently, ideally, with 4 fetch lands, I would need to play 2 more lands overall (40 instead of 38). I usually play 37 mana-producing lands (lands that work in my opening hand, which isn't the case of Cabal Coffers in this deck, which is why I play 38 instead of 37). So I will stick with what I have right now despite the fact that Bloodghast would be better with fetch lands. Myriad Landscape can still be used this way since it taps for mana, I can just hold it for Bloodghast (this ain't gonna happen but whatever).

The black version of this cycle is Urborg, which I play already and it's great.
I'm thinking about removing Sudden Spoiling and find a better replacement. Removal when I don't have Horobi. I don't really want to spend money on Damnation since it's worse than Deluge and Mutilate and mono-black, but maybe a card with a higher CMC which would work either at instant speed or with some bonus (Decree of Pain?).

Well I'm not sure it's what your looking fir but both ugin and Karn liberated have continued to be awesome for me they are not exactly cheap but if you alredy own one I would run that. They not only remove they remove enchantments .
Urborg albeit good has no synergy with horobi, death's wail nor with most mono black decks at all. Thus it is of no comparison to my intent. Maze of Ith should be of interest then.
One can't fully rely on their commander so there is a black enchantment that says that any creature that deals damage to you is destroyed (I forgot the name). If anything will cause people to not want to attack you unless there creature is indestructible.
Urborg has no synergy ??? It's turns it's second abilty into tap kill a dude and it comes in untapped and still makes black.. The card your thinking of is no mercy also printed on the creature dread. But urborg is one of the best lands in the deck...
Edit : Ah I see where you got confused go read the errata it targets and it targets anything.
Yeah, enchantments are a problem. I was thinking about Fleshbag Marauder and its friends but I can see how Karn would be good. It doesn't have any specific synergy though. O-Stone already deals with destructible enchantments.
I don't know. Someone played Somberwald Sage into Xenagos, God of Revels in a game I played recently and I was quick to point out that he was forced to target with Xenagos and that could kill his own creatures but I just died 2 turns later because I never got time to play Horobi and a relevant kill spell for the rest of his board. That sucked.
Aggro decks are quick, Horobi takes at least 5 turns to wipe the board, and it's usually best case scenario. Karn wouldn't have helped there. Ugin is 8 mana, and to be honest, I don't like exiling stuff with my mono-black deck.
I need something better than a 1-time Sudden Spoiling, that's for sure. I want something reactive that could work without Horobi, with a reasonable CMC against aggro. Decree costs 5 to cycle and it seems unproductive to use it only to kill a Somberwald Sage. But that thing becomes a threat when it allows a turn 4 or turn 5 Xenagos+Inferno Titan. Barter in Blood could do some work too. If only it was instant speed.

Yea I kind of have a big mana sub theme that diverged from your list as well as vintage rocks so my experince is likely differnt I tend to open with a standard make mana draw cards plan before I start doing things mostly because I simply found it better in general. The sac creatures are pretty good I actualy liked them more when my deck looked more like yours hmm. I think damnation and barter are your only cheap wrath options everything else is 5 or more there is plenty of good spot removal but I don't really know what your looking for as one if the boons of the deck is not needing much spot removal and the synergy Karn and ugin have are with mono black in general and playing more than one will allow you to not get put in a situation where your tutors are forced. they do things black can't do but without ramp they may not be the right fir for your shell. There is a new card coming out that's -4/-4 for 2BB I guess that's comparable to what your looking for. Maybe you could be a little more specfic on exactly what your looking to add? I don't know if I like the idea of changing cards for one game is this a recurring issue?
Not a recurring issue in particular (the Somberwald Sage situation) but I don't play any spot removal in the whole deck, because 95% of the times, Horobi gets the job done. I already play Toxic Deluge and this is really efficient. Mutilate too.
I don't know what I want exactly. I don't want to start playing Hero's Downfall and similar cards. The thing I like about Fleshbag Marauder is how easy I can deal with a shroud creature this way, after killing every else with Horobi. That's a good card that I can reanimate. Barter is good too, although a sorcery. I could give a try to the Marauder. I just wish WotC printed something slightly better. 2-CMC, or bigger body, or whatever, instead of the totally functional reprint we got (besides the creature type) in KTK.
If someone ever starts to play Sigarda, I got Arcane Lighthouse to deal with hexproof (not shroud) creatures, since sacrifice doesn't work.

Sudden Spoiling is basically a 3-mana Darkness. Got it in my opening hand today and after drawing Corpse Dance, I thought about how good would be Fleshbag Marauder/Merciless Executioner instead. Besides Grave Pact, which is complicated to setup from an empty board position, I don't have any way to easily make my opponents sac a creature, so I think this is it.
Obviously I will play the zombie over the new orc, just for flavour. Also note the great synergy with Mikaeus there. It's a good sac outlet with bonus, cheaper to play than Sidisi or Disciple and sometimes with a better reward (killing my opponents' creatures).

I liked sticking it on mimic vat when I had it unlike Sidisi or grey merchant your not risking a key card to disenchant but the sac stick was pretty awesome. I think that was your best option for how you like to play has lots if synergy with the deck and complements Horobi quite well. Body's that do stuff on etb are always good options with reanimate spells as well.

New self-reanimating creature: Despoiler of Souls. As we would expect, it can't block. The problem is the cost, we need to exile 2 creatures from our own graveyard. Not gonna happen!
Edit: Got to talk about Necromantic Summons too: basically, a worse Beacon of Unrest. It competes with Makeshin Mannequin, which is more aggressively costed, instant speed but can only target cards in my own graveyard (I don't really consider the sac part as a con with Horobi). It obviously comes after Reanimate, Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead and Necromancy too. So it's pretty far on the reanimations spells list. I think I'd play Strands of Night over this if I ever wanted more reanimation spells.

Little new toy again: Erebos's Titan
Basically a 5/5 for 4 mana (including 3 of devotion), that guys gets indestructible when opponents don't have any creature (it's kind of tricky, but Horobi can make it happen). And then, if it's in the graveyard, we can return it to hand by discarding a card when a creature leaves an opponent's graveyard. Really weird ability, but it works with exile (targetted exile, delve and so much on), reanimation, or just an opponent activating Elixir of Immortality.
It's close to be playable, that's what I think. If it returned to the battlefield, it would be. But to my hand, and I need to discard... well, it's a discard outlet I guess, but a conditional one. If I have to Reanimate a creature to be able to discard a card, it kills the purpose.

What are some cards that you want in the deck but have yet to acquire? Vampiric Tutor maybe? Sorin markov seems like an auto include in any mono black deck no?
He uses both ban lists combine so it's illegal for him to use. Sorin is a fine card in mono black but he likes synergy and that's more of a good stuff card. My builds a little more good stuff with a big mana theme like a more typical mono black build and horobi is still an excellent general that allows some really obscure cards to become stupidly powerful. If your going for optimization yes use the tutors that are banned in dual that he's not using.

This.
Sorin tends to piss off opponents in multiplayer games too. Soul Conduit is better in the deck if you want that kind of effect at 6 mana, it's easier to reuse and with all the life costs in the deck, it's easy to put someone down at 1 or 2 life every turn.

How's Horobi doing nowadays? I know you wanted a reusable Sudden Spoiling but the closest I can think of is Sorceress Queen but she only affects one creature. Oh, and if you want another Karn, Silver Golem effect, there's always Xenic Poltergeist. He can only do it once a turn though due to tapping. Still, combos nicely with Liquimetal Coating

This.
Sorin tends to piss off opponents in multiplayer games too. Soul Conduit is better in the deck if you want that kind of effect at 6 mana, it's easier to reuse and with all the life costs in the deck, it's easy to put someone down at 1 or 2 life every turn.
