I still feel like its worth giving a go. I understand the drawback, but as long as you dont bring merchant out to get exiled, and are careful with what you let get exiled I think its reasonable- bringing back expendable things/utility at essential moments. Even just the huge lifelink potential can be helpful in a deck like this.
I'm assuming you've taken him out in your updated version, but Karn for example is certainly worse than whip in this kind of deck.
Anyways, your the experienced one with this version of the deck- I guess I'll have to see what your current decklist looks like. Just offering suggestions, speaking of which:
cryptbreaker- draw engine, one drop, discard outlet.
Mikaeus the unhallowed- incredibly strong suite of abilities, and has intimidate as icing on the cake to sneak in hits
phyrexian tower- sac outlet, mana ramp, way of getting creatures in the graveyard when targeted by exile. Lots of uses, you'd be surprised
Well, Aether Revolt has been fully spoiled! Below is a list of cards that I think have the possibility of being useful in this deck. If I missed anything or you want to add anything, please feel free!
Trophy Mage: She's off-theme, but she has potential. She lets us tutor some very important cards, including Loxodon Warhammer, Sword of Feast and Famine and other swords, and Oblivion Stone. That being said, we have access to black, so cards like Demonic Tutor are more efficient (and you don't have to show your opponents what you're getting), but the mage leaves behind a body, which can be useful and recur-able.
Glint-Sleeve Siphoner: Not a zombie, which is a shame. It's also off-theme, which is a point against it. However, this guy is being compared to a poor-man's Bob by some people in my area, and if you're running other ways to generate energy, this is a decent inclusion.
Gonti's Machinations: Very cool card. Unfortunately I've been actively trying to cut non-creature cards to make the deck more streamlined, but this would be a pretty cool inclusion. The deck has a ton of ways to deal damage to yourself, so this card would keep the energy flowing, and could be an effective game-ender or a way to pad your life total.
Yahenni, Undying Partisan: It's a darn shame Aether Revolt does not have any zombies, as this guy would make a beautiful sac outlet and beater for the deck. As it stands, he's a little lackluster.
Dark Intimations: It helps with card advantage against the board, but will paint a big target on your head. I will be keeping an eye out to see if an upcoming Bolas 'walker is worth playing in the deck - that would make this card much more playable.
Metallic Mimic: This guy could pull some serious weight as a zombie lord, though the fact that he has to come out BEFORE the other zombies in order to get the buff hurts him.
I've been testing Key to the City with some decent results. I really wish it gave a buff to power, even just 1, to make Lord of Tresserhorn a 2-shot kill w/o any extra help, but oh well. It gets Tresserhorn through on damage, lets us fill up the grave, and gives us the opportunity to get a card back. I really have been trying to cut down on the non-creatures in the list, but if testing continues to go well with the Key, I might have to make a permanent slot for it.
Anyone else have experience with Key to the City? What have your results been like?
Amonkhet Review
Lots of good stuff in Amonhket! Sorry for the delay - work has been really hectic. Below is a list of new Amonkhet cards that I think warrant discussion. If you think I missed anything, or have much experience playing these cards, please tell me what you think!
Bontu's Monument: This probably is not impactful enough for my likes, but a slower bleeder deck would love this card. It's almost worth it for the cost reduction alone. I have a similar assessment of Hazoret's Monument in this deck.
Embalmer's Tools: Again, probably not relevant enough for my deck, but there's definitely some draw to the possibility of decking people out quickly without needing the combat step.
Throne of the God-Pharaoh: Unfortunately I probably do not get a board state often enough where this would end the game, but in more token-centric versions of this deck I could see this being a great game ender.
Cradle of the Accursed: Without more desert synergy, I do not think this would make the cut. But I'm keeping an eye on it.
Bontu the Glorified: Nice sac outlet, but I do not think it's worth the effort.
Dread Wanderer: He's ok, and he can be recurred, but normally if I'm that low on cards in hand, I'm already in trouble.
Liliana, Death's Majesty: She's amazing for this deck: she creates dudes, recurs dudes, and can be a one-sided boardwipe.
Liliana's Mastery: I normally try to avoid adding noncreature cards, but this one is very enticing. I will test this card.
Lord of the Accursed: Definitely going into the deck - a zombie lord at 3CMC that can grant evasion to my entire team. Definitely a great role player in the deck.
Miasmic Mummy: I don't think I will use this card, but if I had more forced discard in the deck, which I think is a viable strategy with zombies, this would be sure to find a spot.
Plague Belcher: He's pretty good, and the drain effect is a nice insurance policy if I begin to overextend. Also, Torpor Orb (which is a priority in this deck) turns this guy into all upside. I will test this guy.
Metallic Mimic: This guy could pull some serious weight as a zombie lord, though the fact that he has to come out BEFORE the other zombies in order to get the buff hurts him.
The upside of this is that the bonus doesn't go away when Metallic Mimic leaves play.
So, I found a card that might be useful to someone that wants to pilot this deck but just NEEDS to play counterspells. Brine Shaman
It's a counterspell on a stick and a sac outlet as well.
Just a thought

I really wish it didn't have the restriction to only creature spells, because the decks I tend to lose to are usually combo-based decks that rely on non-creature spells to win.

Yeah... I know. But it's something at least. Maybe to fight against like.. Marath, Will of the Wild or fish or monoredbuttplugs...
As I said... Likely not good enough for this build, but someone might find use for it
Below is a list of cards that I think at least merit some discussion about whether it could earn a spot into this deck. Please let me know your thoughts!
Eternal of Harsh Truths - Well...it's a blue zombie with potential card draw. Not enough bang for the buck in this deck, unfortunately.
Neheb, the Eternal - Interesting card, interesting mechanic, I just don't think it fits with the deck. The double red in its cost hurts, and in terms of 5-drop zombies, it's got plenty of competition. I'll pass.
Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh - Grixis walker. It's fun, it has lots of strong modes, but it just doesn't fit with the deck.
The Scarab God - One of the only auto-includes I saw. This guy is the whole package: damage to the face, card selection, graveyard hate, and has the ability to spit out tons of zombies, those copies have the potential to take over the game depending on what you exile, and it recurs itself. The only downside is that he's not a zombie himself, but I can easily overlook that.
God-Pharaoh's Gift - I don't like this because it exiles your own creatures, and we want to be recurring them, not exiling them.
Mirage Mirror - I think this card deserves at least a discussion for each EDH deck. I will test it out in this deck. This is one I'd really like some feedback on from those of you who test it.
Accursed Horde - Solid roleplayer, though he's very mana-intensive. Could be good, though the zombie we care most about not dying, Lord of Tresserhorn, already has regenerate for one black mana, making this less consequential.
Ammit Eternal - This guy is a beating in 1v1; however, I think in multiplayer EDH he will usually be dead by the time your turn comes back around. Possibly worth testing, but I don't think I will.
Razaketh, the Foulblooded - I also think this guy should deserve a look in each EDH deck with black in it. He would be great in this deck, especially since we should usually have the spare creatures to sacrifice.
Torment of Hailfire - this card is a game-ender in big-mana black decks, can be used right alongside Exsanguinate. One of these where X is 10 or more should just about end the game.

Welcome back!
Here's my thoughts about some of your thoughts on some of the new cards Eternal of Harsh Truths - As you said. Likely not worth the slot. The card draw on a zombie is nice though. The best thing about him is his casting cost though. He does come out early after all.. Just saying... Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh - Very powerful card... Even though he's so off theme, he just might be worth it. Try him out a bit first and see if he's worth it (unless you really want to stay on theme, can't blame ya in that case) The Scarab God - Yes... In this deck he's an auto include. Really. Granted, I don't see him being as broken as the Locus god... But that really isn't saying much lol. Though, with him in the deck, you might now want to consider adding both Embalmer's Tools and Throne of the God-Pharaoh. Just a thought. The throne is pulling all the weight in my Wort deck right now, even with only a few tokens. I have a lot of ways to tap them outside of combat. That's what the 'Tools do for you. Mirage Mirror - I know that this isn't going to help... But I have mixed thoughts about this. When it works, it's awesomeballs. But I've had it be a dead card as well. It might be better in your deck as you having more and better targets for it. Even hitting a Lord is good value. And it's lowish CMC as well... Razaketh, the Foulblooded - Honestly, I think that you aren't giving him enough credit. Everyone is going nuts for him. Even decks that don't run many creatures are looking at him and trying to justify him. You have tokens. If he hits the table, guess what. You just tutored for any and every card in your deck that you want. I don't see how you could lose after that happens. Also, May I point out that he's a HUGE ARSE FLYER!!! You know... Something that your deck really really wants. Yes, there are 2 downsides to him. A) He's not a zombie. B) His CMC throws your curve out the window. You DO at least run enough big mana that you can work around him... But it is something to consider. Torment of Hailfire - Yeah... This is almost good enough to count as wincon. In most cases it just is. Granted, You pull this off against elfball, goblins, Jund, or Naya decks and they'll just laugh at you. Just saying.
Thanks, happy to be back! I agree about Rzaketh, the Foulblooded and his allure. I think I simply understated it. What I meant to say is that I think he will fit into all decks with black in them, unless there's a compelling reason to exclude him. Bolas is great, what would you cut for him though?

Well... First things first...
+The Scarab God -Zombie Master
Don't get me wrong, I love me my cards that I used to use back when I played the first time. But you have to have the god in here. And the master feels more like a pet card to me. Yes, with Uborg out you swing for free.. How often does that actually happen when it wasn't just win more?
+Razaketh, the Foulblooded -Insidious Dreams
Fairly week tutor getting taken out for a MUCH better tutor engine. Yes... The curve takes a beating... But if you get Raz out, you will likely win next turn. The tutoring also fills your hand. With the grave hate that is out there (esp with HOD bringing in more that are already getting slotted into decks) Dumping your hand isn't always the best price for a tutor.. Not to mention that you'll have to then draw into whatever you tutor'd for. I'd rather just tutor into hand, thank you very much. And you know how little I like to use tutors.
I'll give this a bit more thought after I get some RedBull in me...
Black is used in a lot of decks in my area, Zombie Master is a house. The worst part is the fact that it gives ALL zombies swampwalk, and that sometimes hurts me.
Well... Just for the sake of arguing... If black is showing up so much in your meta, how's Stronghold Assassin working out for you lately? I personally love the card in a ton of my decks... But there is a LGS around me that I can't really use it at due to everyone running so much that it ends up a dead card way too often. I can use it at the other 2 LGS's around me, and my normal playgroup. Just not at that store. A lot of ppl would say that you are running more then enough removal so you could spare a slot (I don't think you're running enough myself but that's just me and I odd lol). If the assassin is being dead for you, it might be worth a slot.
Well, I would think that your next card to cut would be more likely Sword of Fire and Ice. I just think that you could run something better. Rather run a better equipment, but there is a few cards that just might work better. Just my thoughts on trying to find a non-lord slot here.
Got my hands on The Scarab God this weekend, tested it out, and it was amazing. I'm testing it in place of Sword of Fire and Ice. Haven't had enough games to be sure, but it looks like this is the right call for the deck.
Would you say this deck is borrow-friendly? It doesn't have too many tutors (which is good); easy to understand strategies and combination; and still has power.
Would you recommend I netdeck to start? I feel I would have to delve deeper into the deck (to understand it) and lay it out before I make any personal changes. I have seen some of the cards you have removed or looked at in each set that I could potentially add [for my liking or meta].
I know for sure I would need to add Withered Wretch (and maybe Nezumi Graverobber too). Toooo much graveyard interactions around here.
I think using all available resources, including the internet, is a good idea when you're building a deck. "Netdeck" has a negative connotation with it, but I feel differently - why not use the information and feedback from others that have wrestled with the same decisions?
I think this deck is great for adding your own personal touches, like the ones you described. While I like my particular set of zombies, there are solid arguments for the inclusion of any creature, as long as you think they add something to your deck. If you like to destroy people's graveyards, make sure you try to pick up a copy of the new The Scarab God. Also Agent of Erebos helps with repeatedly having that effect.

I went into a craze yesterday. Went through all my cards....took roughly 4 hours....and pulled out all the cards in your list, cards that I personally liked, and potential adds. It was intense and exciting.
After looking at what cards I pulled, I felt I started going into the direction of being more graveyard recursion and get your opponents hellbent. But I felt it strayed too far from the zombie theme.... With that being said, I guess I can't be sure until I play the deck
My best piece of advice for this deck is that I've found it helpful to keep the amount of non-creatures to a bare minimum. This list has gone through phases where I up the non-creature count, and then I find myself lacking sacrifice fodder, creatures to equip, or creatures to benefit from the zombie lords. As long as you keep a good amount of creature recursion, this deck operates at its best when it keeps the focus on creatures.

I looked at a lot of value creatures within these colors, but yes, zombie lords decrease in value. What about cards that create creatures or tokens nonstop? I love Bitterblossom/Reassembling Skeleton with Skullclamp.
After reading the entire thread, breaking down what Infernal_Denizen said on page 3, and modifying your deck, I arrived at the following. I still need to narrow it down thought --- I'm at 81 nonland cards.
There were some 'interesting' cards that I thought would aid resilience.
Example: attack with X creatures with Marchesa, the Black Rose on the field. Then sac stuff to Grimgrin, Corpse-Born or a played Fleshbag Marauder. Or wipe the board, etc. At EoT, you get them back.
I like your list! Having too many cards is a good problem. When I'm making cuts at a point like this, I think you have to ask yourself the question: "will this card be helpful to me at most stages of the game or in most circumstances?" If the answer is no, then it should go on the chopping block. If you're wanting suggestions to cut:
I'm assuming you've taken him out in your updated version, but Karn for example is certainly worse than whip in this kind of deck.

So far I've been very happy with Sword of Fire and Ice. In this deck, the only two equipment I want to see more than it are Loxodon Warhammer and Sword of Feast and Famine, but dropping down to two equipment might be the best idea.

Melira PodRIP 1/19/15GWHatebearsI know for sure I would need to add Withered Wretch (and maybe Nezumi Graverobber too). Toooo much graveyard interactions around here.
I buy HP and Damaged cards!

Ghave, Guru of Spores: Dies_to_Doom_Blade's stax list

I think this deck is great for adding your own personal touches, like the ones you described. While I like my particular set of zombies, there are solid arguments for the inclusion of any creature, as long as you think they add something to your deck. If you like to destroy people's graveyards, make sure you try to pick up a copy of the new The Scarab God. Also Agent of Erebos helps with repeatedly having that effect.

Melira PodRIP 1/19/15GWHatebearsI went into a craze yesterday.

Melira PodRIP 1/19/15GWHatebearsI looked at a lot of value creatures within these colors, but yes, zombie lords decrease in value. What about cards that create creatures or tokens nonstop? I love Bitterblossom/Reassembling Skeleton with Skullclamp.
Hellbent combos:
Blood Scrivener
Cool cards (I havn't looked at the entire thread to see if you talked about them, no need to comment on them)

I see what Infernal_Denizen was saying about Day's Undoing - negates stuff like Sedris, the Traitor King exile clause.
PS - Aetherworks Marvel is a must-add for me.
