For those who lurk in the Rumor Mill, have you seen the supposed Ugin? May he be real, I might be slightly disappointed. He fits the bill of this deck so well, but at 9, I don't think so.
I know you already wrote about this in the OP. But I'm contemplating adding time walk effects. How have these worked for you?
And the spoiled Ugin has been deemed fake by the majority but not confirmed to be so yet. I hope we get a way better one to be honest.
The Time Warp effects are awesome. They're honestly some of my favorite cards in the deck. I think it is mainly the fact the you get to activate a couple planeswalkers' abilities is what makes Time Walk effects really tick.
Oh, and on Ugin, me too. I've been following the Rumor Mill, and I'm sure that it's fake, but I would be sorely disappointed if not. I honestly like its first and second ability, say at six or seven mana, but it's way too expensive and its ultimate doesn't really work in commander.

Thanks for the reply! I really want to try these cards but Capture of Jingzhou is rare and expensive. Temporal Manipulation is within my budget but nowhere nice to my wallet 😄 Maybe a christmas gift to myself
Oh it's reallly expensive, but I picked it up earlier before it shot up a little bit, although it was still $200. If you want to run three, I would maybe consider either Walk the Aeons or Savor the Moment
Alright, I got a hold of Temporal Manipulation. Maybe the other one for christmas.. I also found out about Three Visits. Its a little better than Farseek because it doesn't matter that it gets only forests 'cause of duals. I've been surfing the mtg web for ideas on superfriends. And I've gotta say that your thread here is the most informative and thought out of the bunch. So many strategies based on proliferation which we left behind long ago. I hope you get primer soon
Yeah, thanks! I applied for status but got denied, for good reason. I need to update the strategy section and make it a bit more detailed. I've contemplated Three Visits, but sometimes you just want a non-Forest dual, and I find that generally if you cast the ramp spell early (which is when it is most effective and important) the extra land coming into played untapped for the turn is irrelevant.
But yeah, like I said, I am gonna work on the strategy section in a little more detail, probably explain why I do not include proliferation, but I am looking for suggestions too!
For me proliferation was a strategy that seemed very powerful in the initial build of the deck. I found that I was holding Contagion Engine and Inexorable Tide in my hand wanting to cast them but always had to cast something else. That was either an answer to a threat or usually a planeswalker that was the better play. After the printing of The Chain Veil and Teferi, Temporal AchmageI thought it to be a better strategy. Planeswalker abilities are powerful in and of themselves and Doubling Season males them over the top. And now with some time magic I think I'll be able to pull off more activations. Tomorrow I'll play a three man multi. I'll let you know how it goes.
So, played against Child of Alara and Erebos, God of the Dead. Lost. Got a turn four Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker thanks to my mana rocks. But it was to aggressive too fast I think. Turned the table against me and even though I had lots of draw power I just could not find anything to match them. Even dropped Omniscience with three cards in hand to try to get ahead. Was targeted by Villianous Wealth again. That card is turning out to be a problem for me. Any suggestions to stop it? Anyway he got my Teferi, Sorin Markov and Karn...
Played against Daretti as well. Won that match. Removed his early power artifacts and had pretty much a free run which included indestructible emblem, Teferi emblem, and Garruk, Primal Hunter ultimate under Doubling Season.
I took out Dack Fayden a while ago and now I have considered running him again. How has he been for you?

This is some awesome feedback! Anyway, on something such as Villainous Wealth, I have no idea. Maybe just play something such as Leyline of Sanctity or Witchbane Orb?
On Dack, he is pretty awesome. He's nothing necessarily spectacular, but he's good value. His filter ability is great, which also works with various recursion tools, such as Crucible of Worlds. Then his minus is pretty good, too, stealing some good artifacts such as Swords, or whatever.
Hey Temporal_Archmage, I was looking at your list and I noticed that you don't run typical green ramp spells. How does the deck play without those? I've played maybe a dozen games with my list and they have been useful overall except for a couple of dead draws lategame. Perhaps avoiding explosive starts is better as you avoid playing archenemy?

Hey! I actually put them back in. Realized I needed them to get enought mana soon enough. I now run Nature's Lore, Farseek and Skyshroud Claim. The reason I took them out was because I thought Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, Chromatic Lantern was enough. But it was not. This deck is really mana hungry and to be able to cast two spells a turn mid- to lategame is important to keep tempo up. What you say about explosive starts is very true. You may like the sound of a turn four Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker but that paints a huge target on your forhead. "Vindicate Bolas and beat that guy". I have also stopped over-commiting to the board and try to play what I need and keep something back. Don't play aggro with a control deck 😄
Is Doubling Season too quintessential of a card for the archetype that cutting it would be blasphemy? I have wondered sometimes... It is really SLOW, but it also makes for explosive and fun plays (which is kinda what the format is about). Has anyone else thought about it, or am I just a deranged person?

But the raw power it enables is so insane. I see where you're coming from but I would not cut it. It gets hated out pretty quick which means people fear it. Lately I have observed which cards have been meaningful in games. I list those that always deliver or have saved me. Others like for instance Privileged Possition that have never helped me once I cut. The Season is always good if it lives 😄

In my deck, is only makes planeswalkers start with twice as many counters and provides me with tokens. The way I prefer to play my deck does not involve dropping and ulting planeswalkers right away.
I think all the points raised are pretty good. I'm probably going to continue playing it, but as TheEndIsNear pointed out, it can just be expensive. I draw it, and I feel like if I drop it, it'll get hate. This is almost the antithesis of why I play superfriends, because I like the fact that if I play a threatening planeswalker, it at least gets one activation. It does have some really nice synergy, though, and sometimes planeswalkers just take too long to ultimate. I'll keep it in and see how it goes.
I meant it felt bad cutting it due to the money cost ;P
I think I put Savor the Moment back in. I didn't really replace it with anything that took it's spot, it just felt like one of the least enjoyable cards in the deck, so it got cut (with a few other cards) when I wanted to make the next round of changes.
Sounds weird that you use money as an argument as I find this deck quite expensive to build. I see Doubling Season as a win cond. I could see replacing it with cards like obliterate or omniscience but I don't like cutting it for anything else.
Ya its something to end games. Like say you have 10ish mana end game, and Ral and Doubling Season in hand. Cast them both out the same turn and you're almost secured a victory. Its not something I would hardcast until I could get value out of it THAT turn, so I'd look at it more as a Omniscience like card, than a mid-game tech.
Hey Trav_Ragnar. In your OP there are a few cards that I consider missing from your analysis.
Counterflux The uncounterable clause is super relevant in my meta and has saved my butt quite a few times over pact of negation which I cut since then. Rout Can be quite good for the instant speed sometimes. I'm testing it right now and it helped a lot again the good old Avenger EoT + Cratehoof I win. (Decree of Pain can also help) Price of Glory I will be testing that card soon as my meta is mostly blue decks right now. It is getting hard playing around all the countermagic. I think this is much better than Defense Grid especially as we run Crucible of Worlds.

This is how I try to use it too. Sometimes I drop it turn 5 when I have a planeswalker next turn. Sometimes it gets destroyed other times it sticks. There is no value to be had if this happens, but if it stays on board then its a win con. Today I played Doubling Season and dropped Jace, Architect of Thought to bribery my Omniscience out and dropping the rest of my hand + something juicy from my opponents decks.

I've cut it.
Felt bad because of how expensive it is.
Double the tokens from Sliver Queen
Double the tokens from Luminarch Ascension
Ultimate some friends right away
@TheEndIsNear, what did you replace it with?
