Can you tell me how you have been liking Prossh? I am looking to build a new commander deck, and he just seems like a total monster! But I'd like your opinion on him before I consider it anymore since your list is the most optimal I can find. And you're the Commander Dragon expert

I've really enjoyed playing him so far, really love that most counters don't make him a total waste when he gets hit by them. He is powerful and has tons of great interactions with a lot of cards. Being able to combo off of food chain or generating tons of mana from Mana Echoes are some of the more absurd things you can do with him. However for the less combotastic players podding him into Avenger of Zendikar or Chancellor of the Forge and swinging in with shared animosity, Beastmaster Ascension , Márton Stromgald or Craterhoof Behemoth for insane amounts of damage has been a blast. His cost overall is a little high but with G it's not that hard to get there fast.

I would defiantly recommend him as a Token, Voltron, or Combo general for BRG

Of all the ideas I've seen for this general so far. The token theme is still my favorite. As such, I really want to bump this thread with my own list that I'm really liking a lot in simulations. I think this particular strategy has a lot of promise.

Thanks and I like your list alot. How has Deadbridge Chant been working out for you? Seems like a strong recurrsion engine but I'm curious on how much hate it ends up drawing. Might have to give it a test, also I need to find room for Tempt with Vengeance.

I have since taken Deadbridge Chant out. And here is my updated list as of now.

I am currently running Shattergang Brothers with a token sac theme.

A couple cards that I have liked that I don't see you have are:

High Market
Creakwood Liege (makes Prossh kill faster even)

Grim Backwoods takes 5 mana to use...whereas High Market just 1.

I never liked cards that only really worked when attacking like Marton or Beastmaster. I don't like giant clunky creatures either like Champion, Nath, Grave Titan, Hornet Queen, Chancellor probably some others.

Bitterblossom, Awakening Zone, are really nice.

Yavimaya Elder or Yavimaya Druid are better than Dawntreader Elk.

With sac outlets I like having Zealous Conscripts in my package and if you are facing a competitive table you can pull the Conscripts/Kiki-Jiki Combo...you are not forced into doing it.

Greater Gargadon is another nice Sac Outlet Tooth and Claw, Spawning Pit and Goblin Bombardment have proved not worth it to me in my lists. I have been using Phyrexian Altar, Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Tower, High Market, Sadistic Hypnotist, Greater Good, Greater Gargadon and that 3B 2/3 that transmutes.

Once per round sac outlets like High Market are kind of meh to me. Especially when you only get 1 life out of it and spend 2 mana to do it. You also seem to have a high focus in your post on sac outlets when my build is more focused in other directions with sac outlets as a side theme. And since our general is a sac outlet, it's not too hard to find one.

And while you may not like combat-based effects... I like them. And Beastmaster Ascension is actually fairly easy to fire with the number of tokens in my build.

I've also mentioned elsewhere that a good mana base/ramp base makes casting those "clunky" cards fairly easy. I do seem to have missed Yavimaya Dryad when I was looking for ramp though. It will definitely replace Elk.

Well with the full spoiler for born of the gods out I can safely say only a few seem worth testing out.

Archetype of Aggression with it's low cost and global trample for me and at the same time taking it from everyone else makes Prossh that much harder to deal with and makes the tokens even better chump blockers.

Felhide Spiritbinder is almost like a second Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker but I love that he can target legends and things that aren't yours. It might be difficult to keep tapping him but the payout seems decent.

But my favorite from the new set is by far Xenagos, God of Revels. At 5 he comes down the turn before Prossh and his effect combined with saccing 6 Kobold lets you swing for 22 general damage.

That's all I really saw from this set, any gems I missed?

Earthcraft makes it easier to keep tapping Felhide.

My Prossh deck

Recently I have been running Tainted Strike, Assault Strobe, and Psychotic Fury in my prossh deck. They are extremely effective at knocking out players on turn 3-5. Some people see these plays as "mean" so I usually only play my prossh deck (which is an out-and-out combo deck) during events with prizes. these three cards are insane in the deck. I also have started running Mass Hysteria and Need for Speed (along with greaves and boots) for cheaply giving prossh haste so that he (hopefully) has it on the turn he comes down.


I'm considering Xenagos, God of Revels but I'm a little worried about him because he literally does nothing in my deck unless prossh is out. I'd love to hear about anyone's experiences playing Xenagos before I decide to buy one or not.

If Xenagod does nothing in your deck until Prossh comes down, then Tainted Strike, Assault Strobe, and Psychotic Fury do even less. Xenagod at least has the ability to become an indestructible creature through devotion. With Xenagod, Dragonmaster Outcast gives hasty 10/10 fliers every turn.
