Nothing too imaginative here. Started out as an Edric Elves deck, but slowly morphed into the 'one inch punch' variety. I should note that I built this deck as one to lend to other people, because it is easy to pilot, feels powerful once it gets going, doesn't have many tutor effects and encourages combat, while subtly discouraging opponents from attacking you.
My recently constructed Edric deck followed a similar evolution. Went Edric elves to begin with....but wanted the tempo gain, so tossed in to make it Edric weenies....but missed the thematicness of a build...so changed it into Edric's Forest Friends. Follow link in sig for details.
Suggestions/Comments on your build:
- Scute Mob is probably too slow for your objectives...and has no evasion.
- Blighted Agent & Inkmoth Nexus - seems like you don't have much infect here...are these worth the slot? True...makes Triumph of the Hordes easier to pull off, but that's a pretty random wincon even without the extra help.

Scute Mob usually is a 5/5 on it's first attack and a 9/9 on the second, for G. It doesn't have evasion but it can be given flying with Wingcrafter or trample with Garruk or Triumph of the Hordes (plus infect). It is a very cheap threat and it scares my playgroup. If they choose to spot remove it instead of Edric, then I think it has earned a spot.
I include Inkmoth Nexus because having a cheap evasive creature that avoids most sweepers is a way to restart the card advantage if the rest of my creatures are killed (I run Faerie Conclave for the same reason). I don't own a Blinkmoth Nexus, but I would probably still run both given a choice.
Because I had Inkmoth Nexus in there I thought I'd add some additional infect support, which is why I added Blighted Agent (bonus points for being a rogue too). If I owned an Invisible Stalker I may play that instead, however I have won a few games with infect, usually off the back of Garruk's overrun or Beastmaster's Ascension. There are some powerful life gain decks in my meta and infect gives me an alternate win condition.
Having the two infect creatures also gives me some extra reach in the event that Triumph of the Hordes doesn't kill an opponent, instead leaving them on 8 or 9 poison counters.
Basically, the two infect creatures are cheap, evasive threats that draw me cards and force my opponents to be wary of an alternate victory condition.
- Spellstutter Sprite - I am wary of the conditions this puts on the counterspell, scared that I will have this in hand and be unable to counter a sweeper because I only have two other Faeries. My fears are probably unfounded. I don't own one, but if I ever pick one up I may give it a shot.
- Mindshrieker - I have to admit I'm not a fan. I have seen my friend run this card (in a Wrexial deck) and pay 6 mana to give it a +2/+2 (hit 2 lands). I think there are much better mana sinks, and against some decks the mill effect is enabling.
- Craterhoof Behemoth - Firstly, I don't own one. Secondly in my opinion it isn't worth it because it's mana cost is very high and it almost always will be a win more by the time I can cast it.
- Unified Will - I'll have to search my collection to see if I have one. Probably better than some of the other conditional counterspells I'm running.
- Sleep - I used to run it, I think it was cut for Time Warp. I agree it's a powerful and game winning spell in this deck, but what should come out to fit it in? Note that I run Creeping Corrosion for meta reasons, otherwise I would probably replace it with Sleep.
Love playing time warp Edric. Couple of things I run:
- Galerider Sliver - I looked at picking one up the other day, but I'd rather not play $5 for a 1/1 flyer. It's good, but I'll see if I pull one or if it plummets in price.
- Eladamri, Lord of Leaves - He's been on my Elf wishlist for a long time. He's not even that expensive, but I guess I have priorities elsewhere at the moment because I'm not keen on spending anymore money on this deck at the time being.
- Gaea's Cradle - I'm lucky enough to own a couple of these, but they're in different decks at the moment (Torsten Von Ursus and Animar). I did have it in here for a little while, but I never really needed that much green mana so I ended up cutting it. Perhaps if I had some mana sinks?
- Thran Quarry - Seems like Edric tech! If I get my hands on one as a trade or for cheap someday, then I'll play it. Bear in mind the mana-base is basic land heavy because I run Back to Basics.
- Dryad Arbor - Only really worth running with Green Sun's Zenith. If I had one I'd probably include it, but I don't and it's not high priority for me.
- Green Sun's Zenith - If I had Dryad Arbor, I would definitely run this. At the moment I don't feel there are sufficient valuable targets in my deck to warrant its inclusion.
- Noxious Revival - Another card I will search for in my collection. It's good, but what would you cut for it?
- Tangle Wire - I've tried running Tangle Wire in other decks and have never been that impressed with it in EDH. I recognise it's a good card which is why I've tried to make it work before, but my anecdotal evidence leaves me disappointed.
- Chrome Mox - If I owned one, I'd include it, but it's a bit pricey so it's not high on my priority list at the moment.
- Lotus Petal - Again, if I already had one I'd include it, but I'm not in a rush to acquire one specifically for this deck.
I should note that I built this deck as one to lend to other people, because it is easy to pilot, feels powerful once it gets going, doesn't have many tutor effects and encourages combat, while subtly discouraging opponents from attacking you.
I really do appreciate the feedback and suggestions. I'm not likely to spend much more money on the deck at this point in time, because I am currently planning a few decks which still need cards to build. Any cards that are over $5 I'm unlikely to rush out and get, but that said some of them will go on my wishlist.
I would surmise that Sakashima's Student is more permanent, able to be targeted, without any drawbacks. In Edric, you'll never cast it for 4 and you'll get to bounce one of you're creatures for more benefit...
Wow, will you spam the same comment in every Edric thread without even taking time to add some argument about it? I responded to that same post in my own Edric thread and you never answered back. Do you actually read the threads in which you are posting? The videos I linked in my thread from Nathaniel and Brian?
You know, there are more than 1 way to make a deck works. I don't know if you are posting this as a joke that I don't understand (something about a 2/1 vanilla with 2-cmc and being Plainswalk) but whatever...
My own rules when building a Commander deck:
1) Underrated general that I can build around but the deck must work without him/her too.
2) Every card must be legal in both banlists.
3) No infinite combo that could win (and ruin) instantly a multiplayer game.
4) Synergy at all costs; stay on theme, avoid goodstuff.

must have hit you pretty close to the mark to get you all worked up like that.
busted. yes, sometimes I will post in a thread and then not read further posts in that thread for weeks, months, or ever.
i suggest zodiac rooster to every edric player because it is one of the few creatures with plainswalk (there should be more!) and I find it hilarious that wizards printed a creature that is a CHICKEN with two power. edric is really the only deck it fits into as far as I know.
I don't really know what else to say about it. didn't mean to piss you off.
Gelf - have you considered Burgeoning? I've got it in my Edric build, and I really like it. Most games with Edric, I have to start discarding lands because I draw so many cards, but Burgeoning is a one-drop that can turn those extra lands into ramp. Admittedly, it's not as good late game as early game, but it can be a powerhouse if you get it early.
I wonder what you think I add Mana Crypt / Mox Diamond / Lotus Petal in your decklist? And what you think about each of them in this deck? Sometimes I think it would be better to run with Sakura-Tribe Scoutin place of these, what do you think?
What do you think about this deck Wonder? It really makes a difference in this deck?
My apologies, I haven't looked at this thread for a while!
The list has not been updated with anything from the last few sets, I admit this deck is not one I spend a whole lot of time thinking about as it plays well and intuitively as is and I often lend it to other people to play.
@batdown: As an unashamed lover of the ****, I would definitely include Zodiac Rooster if I had one It's cute and seems silly, but plainswalk would come in handy against some decks.
@FunkyDragon: Much like the other suggestions, I would play Burgeoning if I had it, probably replacing Carpet of Flowers which can seriously fizzle when there is no other blue player at the table. Edric rarely has trouble with lands sitting in hand, it would be good to get them out rather than discard them.
@armando_zuffi #2: Mox Diamond would probably play well in this deck, because you do draw a lot of lands, so it's likely this will always be able to be played. You just need to remember an opening hand with Mox Diamond in has to be evaluated quite differently from a hand without it.
Lotus Petal is easier on an opening hand however being one off is a disadvantage. This deck doesn't really want to get Edric out turn 2 (which would be the main advantage of Lotus Petal), it would much rather play Edric on turn 3 and attack with two or three weenies for immediate card advantage. Sacrificing Lotus Petal for a Scryb Sprites seems like a waste to me.
Mana Crypt is probably the least useful in my opinion, because this deck does not run many cards with high colourless costs, so having it early doesn't really do much as you want to be dropping your 1 and 2 drop creatures. I mean it's certainly a good card, but I just don't feel it would be at it's most optimal use in this deck. if I owned one, there would be other decks I would put it in before this one. If you have a spare one that has nowhere else to go I can't see it doing much harm if you replaced a land with it.
Sakura-Tribe Scout would be better than all three a lot of the time in my opinion, although be cautious of the number of tap abilities in this deck. You want your creatures to be attacking!
I used to run Wonder, but so many creatures in this deck already have flying or other evasion, so it is less useful than it seems. Often the only attacking creature that benefits from a dead Wonder is Edric himself.
Daze is good as a surprise counter It's the only surprise counter I own (unfortunately don't own Pact of Negation or Force of Will) so it's an easy choice for me to include. There are times it doesn't work (it is pretty bad late game) but early game it is great (stopping the turn 4 Wrath of God for example) and it can still disrupt big tap-out spells (Exsanguinate)and end a counterspell war.
Thassa's Rebuff is more situational than Mana Leak. It's not unusual to have mostly green permanents out, in which case this may be no better than Daze without the alternate cost. Mana Leak is guaranteed pay extra or lose the spell and usually will be enough.
Trygon Predator is at the high end of creature costs, but it has evasion and it acts as removal so I think it's worth playing. At the very least it usually acts as a lightning rod for removal
I run Submerge because often an opponent controls a forest, which makes Submerge a free spell so I can use my mana for counterspells, creatures and time magic Submerge can also be used to tuck an opponents general if cast in response to a shuffle trigger.
Turbulent Dreams is more of a finisher than an answer, allowing you to clear the field to get a final attack through (it does give pretty good tempo too). Rushing River is good bounce, but it's not free, and I would probably run Boomerang before it, for the ability to bounce a troublesome land. Beast Within is an amazing card, but gives my opponent a creature which can block and kill Edric
Snapcaster Mage is a fine card. Flash grants pseudo haste, and it can recycle Time Warp or a counterspell as required. If I had one, I'd certainly consider finding a spot for it.
Likewise Cursecatcher can effectively slow opponents down as they are unwilling to risk the Force Spike, so it may be worth running even though it has no evasion.
I do like Cursecatcher quite a bit. In multi there's often someone open for attack anyways and buying you an extra turn before a sweeper is huge for this deck. Plus he can help protect Edric early on when you drop him and may not have counters or mana to cast counters available.
I don't like Faerie Impostor because it doesn't help increase your board presence. I'm not a fan of Invisible Stalker because he costs 2 mana. I'd rather use a 1 drop with evasion which there are plenty.
I do like Spellstutter Sprite. There aren't a lot of Faerie's in the deck but you can occasionally hit 2cc things and there are a lot of good cards at 1cc that it hits. It's nice that it lets you leave open counter magic and drop a creature EOT if you have extra mana. That said it costs 2cc so it's not that important if you need the slot for something else.
I really like Forbid but in this deck I feel costing 3 mana and UU is just too much for the effect. By the time you're buying it back for value you should have already won. Familiar's Ruse is ok, I played it when I first had the deck but I look at it as a budget option.
The link in my sig is at 40+ pages of discussion, if there's other cards you're interested in I'd recommend going there and using the search function. I doubt there's much that isn't discussed at some point.
I am using Faerie Imposter because I'm low on rogues and want the prowl trigger on Notorious Throng, but having to bounce another creature can be a burden. Invisible Stalker is good, but I wouldn't replace a 1 drop with a 2 drop. It would replace Blighted Agent better in my opinion. I haven't got a Spellstutter Sprite, and I've been reluctant to use it because I don't see it working as a counterspell that often, however Donald makes a good point about it having flash, so you can leave mana up and occasionally it will act as a counterspell, but at worst it's a psuedo-hasty evasive creature, which works pretty well in Edric. I might have to pick one up.
Forbid is a good repeatable counterspell, and the discard is not a major hassle, but I'm tempted to drop it for a more situational but cheaper cmc counterspells. Familiar's Ruse seems fine to me, in this deck it's almost as good as the original Counterspell.
Spellstutter Sprite is not an essential card by any means but it feels pretty good casting it after you prowl Notorious Throng (this is very much win more) and it's really easy on the budget. I'd also consider something like Plaxmanta in this slot depending on what you're seeing in your meta.
Familiar's Ruse is perfectly fine and bob and others have had some success with Abjure though I haven't tried it out myself.
What do you think Sakura-Tribe Scout? I have it and I was wondering if it's a good idea to run it over Exploration ... What do you think?
What do you think of the Priest of Titania? The ve'zes it seems a little heavy on cmc, and I think about running with something like Mox Diamond ... What do you think of this?
If possible check out my decklist, your tips are always welcome
Why not both Exploration and Sakura-Tribe Scout? Exploration is harder to remove, but the Scout has greater synergy as a creature.
Priest of Titania is a one of my favourite cards and it can generate a lot of mana as long as you are have a certain density of elves. Given Edric himself is an elf and most 1 drop mana dorks are also elves, I would personally find it hard to cut.

Putting this up mostly as a way of keeping track of my deck changes, but also happy to discuss the deck and hear suggested additions and changes.
Other cards to consider:
- Spellstutter Sprite - you have many sprites.
- Skyshroud Ranger & Sakura-Tribe Scout - with so much card draw, these help get your lands down quickly.
- Mindshrieker - can get huge very fast.
- Craterhoof Behemoth - another wincon.
- Unified Will - should be easy to cast this
- Sleep - two free swings without needing to worry about blocking.
Anyways. Hope these thoughts help. Check out my build if you want more ideas along the same lines as mentioned.....

Galerider Sliver: 1/1 flyer @ 1cmc
Eladamri, Lord of Leaves: protection for Edric + evasion for getting rogue damage through to trigger Notorious Throng
Lands: Gaea's Cradle, Thran Quarry, Dryad Arbor
Green Sun's Zenith: versatile card that can ramp by fetching Dryad Arbor, protect Edric via Sylvan Safekeeper or Eladamri, Lord of Leaves, or even pull Edric back from tuck effects.
Noxious Revival: often used to chain your time warp effects, especially notorious throng - everyone scoops after throng+revival.
Artifacts: Tangle Wire can act like a rolling time walk effect if it lands early, and it can be bounced with Chain of Vapor or Cyclonic Rift to spare you from tapping or to simply reset it at four counters; Chrome Mox and Lotus Petal ramp you and allow for easy flips of Erayo, Soratami Ascendant to lock the game down.
Scute Mob usually is a 5/5 on it's first attack and a 9/9 on the second, for G.
Why do you'd rather run Submerge instead of Turbulent Dreams, Rushing River or Beast Within? How do you rate them in this deck?
What do you think about Snapcaster Mage this deck? Believes that it is important in this list or can be substituted for something? What?
And Cursecatcher? what you think of it?
Thanks!

I would only get a few more questions:
What do you think of the Faerie Imposter? I was thinking of using it. But sometimes I think Invisible Stalker would be better ... What do you think?
Have you ever thought and use Spellstutter Sprite? What do you think of it?
What do you think Forbid? I was thinking of cutting it and add Familiar's Ruse ... but do not know if it's a good idea ... What do you think?
Thank you!
Forbid is a good repeatable counterspell, and the discard is not a major hassle, but I'm tempted to drop it for a more situational but cheaper cmc counterspells. Familiar's Ruse seems fine to me, in this deck it's almost as good as the original Counterspell.
Thanks
Priest of Titania is a one of my favourite cards and it can generate a lot of mana as long as you are have a certain density of elves. Given Edric himself is an elf and most 1 drop mana dorks are also elves, I would personally find it hard to cut.
