Following the unexpected success of the all-enchantment Enchanted Realms deck, I bring you another crazy brew, this time more casual and less oppressive to your opponents. Once gain, this brew plays and wins in an unusual way, with a very few format staples and a lot of cards that normally do not see play in EDH.
The Necrotic Teenager revolves around 3 of my favorite cards that I have always wanted to put in the same deck and that have unexpected synergy: Laboratory Maniac, Necrotic Ooze, and Psychosis Crawler.
The Necrotic Ooze is the main star of the deck. Depending on what you have in the graveyard, and you can fill your graveyard at an impressive speed, it can machine-gun all permanents, produce infinite mana of every color, it can mill you or somebody else in a single turn, it can draw your entire deck, it can eat somebody's graveyard, steal and destroy all creatures, dump half your deck in the yard, and the list goes on. I will try to list all the combos at some point.
The Laboratory Maniac is the backup win condition. You have several ways to exile your entire library at instant speed, so turn 3 win is possible, or you could do it slowly, over time.
The wheel-type effects that make you (or everybody) discard your hand and draw cards can quickly make Psychosis Crawler deadly and so it serves as the 3rd win condition.
You've gone five colour, nice. I stuck with three for both of mine. The Mimeoplasm and Merieke decks both have Necrotic Ooze in and work really well.
I'd suggest more untap effects if you want to get the most out of it - the Merieke deck uses enchantments to achieve it while the Mimeoplasm uses other creatures. Let me know what you think.
Also I'd never heard of eater of the dead before, will be going into my Mimeoplasm deck, so thank you.
For Necrotic Ooze shenanigans, here's some other cards to consider:
Dwarven Strike Force: If in the graveyard, ensures that Ooze can give itself haste Devoted Druid: Untaps plus has mana abilities. Devoted Druid + Kiki-Jiki = infinite haste Necrotic oozes (that attack as 2/1's I believe?) Pili-Pala: Helps with untap shenanigans and infinite mana Buried Alive: Good tutor for Ooze based decks Corpse Conneisseur: Ditto Dimir House Guard: Tutors for Ooze, and when in graveyard helps ooze regenerate Demonic Consultation: if laboratory maniac is out, instant speed win Leveler: Ditto Thought Lash: Ditto, but it also helps protect you while you set up the combo Riftsweeper: With all the exiling, helps recur things if something goes wrong Mirror of Fate: Another card that lets you instant win with Laboratory Maniac
Comicalflop Something tells me you've done this before...
OP:
It suddenly occurred to me, not enough clones: specifically to clone your psychosis crawler, I know right MOAR CLONES BE MOAR GOOD, great advice...
So specifically: Body double for when your ooze is in your graveyard.
Also GrimGrin, Corpse-Born is an untap ability
