Endless Sandsis a card i won't be looking at, i don't think we're the deck for it. Im looking more towards Zirilian decks and whatnot.
And i think if you exile your general with the land and someone blows it up, your general is permaexiled no?
Think its just protection or easy way to replay kozi when you have bazillions of mana and need cards. No way you'd actually put him in exile, just back in the command zone. The second part of the ability doesn't really matter, just 2, tap, save my commander from Treachery or replay him.
Even so, wouldn't it be tempting to hide kozi under the land? Just to save it and bust your general out during your mainphase, equip and swing?
I can totally see that and i do see what you mean. And more ways to put kozi in the commandzone is nice for recast triggers.

I play Ward and it does some work against a lot of decks. Specifically against the Food Chain Prossh deck that haunts me so much - if I can Torpor Orb and Ward before he gets a Food Chain down it is really hard for him to come back before I Annihilate his board.
Ok, it has been a really long time since I last came here, and I am here today to show you guyz this wonderful gem!
The Immortal Sun

Legendary Artifact
Players can't activate Loyalty abilities of Planeswalkers.
At the beginning of your draw step, draw an additional card.
Spells you cast cost 1 less to cast.
Creatures you control get +1/+1.
First of all, yes I know this would prevent us from using Karn or Ugin, two of our win conditions, but for those not running them, this would be a real gem. Prevents other players from using their own walkers, since we have so few creatures to get rid of them it is good to have, drawing cards is always nice, and spells being cheaper is a thing, and it also makes Kozi cost less. What do you guyz think of this one? Who will play this?
Im seeing this as a card for my potential wishboard if i ever ger a Ring of Ma'ruf.
We don't have many planeswalker centered decks, they usually go for infcombos instead.
The new legality of uncards until January 15 sure helps us a bit i would think!
Atm i don't have time to look through them all but i bet we'll get some nice stuff out of it.
THen again, getting cards during the winter is a pain in the butt so i don't know if i'll even get any of them.
I agree that azor's gateway is gonna interesting if your running voltaic and unwinding and clock of omens. As for graveyard hate I'm running tormods crypt, relic of progenitus, and scavenger grounds. I'm thinking about running either sentinel totem or crook of condemnation.
I agree that azor's gateway is gonna interesting if your running voltaic and unwinding and clock of omens. As for graveyard hate I'm running tormods crypt, relic of progenitus, and scavenger grounds. I'm thinking about running either sentinel totem or crook of condemnation.
Also what grave hate are people running now? I still have relic and tormod
I cut Tormod's Crypt since it only has the option to hit one player, and the CMC of 0 has less synergy with Kozilek, the Great Distortion, which I also run as Commander (CMC 1 is far more relevant to counter a Path to Exile/Swords to Plowshares). Graveyard shenanigans have become more prominent in my meta, So I'm running Scavenger Grounds, Sentinel Totem, Crook of Condemnation and Relic of Progenitus, since they all either target specific cards, or affect all opponents at once. I'm also considering some of the other deserts to run alongside Scavenger Grounds, opportunity cost is pretty low since they at least act as colorless lands that come in untapped. In my experience, one of the better graveyard hate cards in the deck is actually Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, hitting a bunch of value cards with his attack trigger tends to be especially damaging to graveyard heavy strategies.
This seems like a really powerful, third planeswalker for this deck, let you dig in your deck and can also help for the backup beating plan, since the -2 creatures will be really powerful really soon. This planeswalker coming down on turn 1 / 2 would be pretty insane, and later on if the digging is not needed you can simply generate tokens. Really powerful IMO.
Thank you. On the other primer, I read that many cards may be very good, even the initital strategy of here would be "beatdown". I am very surprised that you say that no cards are interesting for this Kozilek. So the deck listed in page 1 would be the stocklist that is very locked.
Read the whole first post and it gives you the layout for the essence of the deck.
I play a more combo orientated version of the butcher, a few people who habit this post play slightly more creature heavy versions. Whatever works for you.
OPs been absent for quite a while now but his last major update to the deck was page 81 if you have a look through there.
Spark up a conversation about why you think other cards should be included. If you write up your build in a deck format and post it I'm sure the other kozilek players will give you pointers on what to cut, just explain your card choices
The bread and butter of the deck are the rocks like all kozilek decks. You've gotta ramp hard so a decent array of low and high cmc rocks get you to the magic number 10 pretty quickly
Card that I've included since Battle for zendikar and why: Azor's gateway: its a good mana sink, low cost and the flip side is amazing inspiring statuary: turns itself and all of your utility into rocks that tap for kozilek. Easy to blindside your opponents who've seen you play before and think you're off to a slow start mirage mirror: can get silly with the right pieces on the board. If you copy up a thran dynamo you're just looking at 1 extra mana. Use it to copy a blocker to surprise an opponent, (works hilariously against an attacking brunt, light of alabaster going for a voltron kill)
It can also stack the ability up, I copies an aurelia, the warleader, then while the ability was on the stack, copies a Necropotence. Mirror turns into the Necropotence, pour life in for cards, then turned into the angel for two attack phases. Lots of cards, lots of kill, lots of sad faces.
Also, copy Kozi for infinite commander casts and draw once you can generate infinite mana Paradox engine: just a giant can of infinite. Cast, untap, cast, untap, cast, untap. You can draw your deck with an erratic portal in play Planar Bridge: pulls whatever you need out of the library and fields it. I often use it to pull ugin out and exile the field before and attack that strips my opponents lands away. Inventor's fair: gets me my second combo piece, or whatever else I may need. down yard temple: plays nicely with dust bowl for when times are hard.
There are probably more but if there's any cards in there that don't make sense to you I'm more than happy to explain why they're there.
Similarly if you're wondering why I'm not running a certain card, more than happy to explain why.
Oh yes I have some questions. Perhaps this question was already asked but why High market ? Gain 1 life when Kozilek will be removed, in what scenario is it useful ? Same question about Ashnod's altar
Treasure map. I like that you argued for Azor gateway, this map is also very well. Draw engine, an another land then and 4 treasure that can serve for krark-clan or to draw or to ramp. What do you think about that kind of card ?
I still do not understand the interest of getting colors from uborg and chromatic lantern and prismatic lens . This last one produce one mana. I would think that other stone with an additional effects like orazca relic would be better, am I wrong ?
Hum.. I am pretty sure that I see that somewhere but, why not Dark depths ? There are some interactions in this deck to get a 20/20, stage, mirage miroir..
I rode page 81 that some cards are too slow and were cut. Ring of three wishes is not that kind of card ?
Oh you are missing the new Field of ruin to destroy lands
Again thank you very much to answer me so quickly and guide us, I am happy
high market and Ashnod's altar are for sacrificing kozilek. I can't draw 4 cards if I can't re-cast him
If you have infinite mana, a kozilek on the field but a couple cards in hand you're stuck. Still in a sac outlet and you've won the game because you can just pick your deck up by sac/casting him. Also, it keeps him safe from the blue players.sac him in response to theft.
treasure map I don't run simply because I don't find it as useful as the other cards I've chosen, I'd rather have other things. Simple as that. Azor's gateway puts cards in your hand rather than on the top or bottom. Has bailed me out beautifully when I had a good opening hand but then just drew lands. I sent all the excess lands to exile and powered through
Dark depths is a good play and yes there are some good interactions with mirage mirror and thespians stage but I'd be increasing the amount of lands that don't generate mana, I'd rather run something that can push my mana count upward.
I like ring of three wishes. It's slightly slow but I'm happy to pay 10 mana for an answer or a final combo piece. It's not good to get in the opening hand or shortly after but I find it a useful card to be running. If something good gets released it will be one of the first to go.
field of ruin isn't a card I can afford to play.
Games in my meta don't usually go much further than turn 6 or 7. Giving the other players at the table the extra land is a death sentence
I am a big fan of the deck from a long time, but my playgroup plagued with artifacts hate (Bane of Progress, Meltdown, Manglehorn, and all of their friends). Maybe one day I can make this deck
I am a big fan of the deck from a long time, but my playgroup plagued with artifacts hate (Bane of Progress, Meltdown, Manglehorn, and all of their friends). Maybe one day I can make this deck
If you think they're playing a lot of artifact hate now, wait til you start winning with this deck.
The good thing is when I play I already know where the threats are coming from so when I'm dropping kozilek on turn 3 or 4 and replacing my hand, I'm swinging at those threats with the annihilator 4 and preventing those threats ever being cast.
But expect hate. Expect all of the hate.
What do we think about Transmogrifying Wand as a removal piece? Get rid of pesky critters then chuck it to the forgemaster, ironworks, etc.
I love it. I'm definitely running it. The one thing we're short on in colourless is targeted removal. Yeah it's always sorcery speed but I can deal with that in order to. Rip away those problem creatures that an opponent refuses to feed into the annihilator
Even so, wouldn't it be tempting to hide kozi under the land? Just to save it and bust your general out during your mainphase, equip and swing?

rings of brighthearth and basalt monolith: infinite mana
metalworker and staff of domination: infinite mana
krarks clan ironworks and spine of ish sah: infinite destruction
Paradox engine and erratic portal: infinite draw
Theres a lot of cards that also have amazing synergy but aren't infinite. Just heavily repeatable.
Nevinyrral's disk and darksteel forge: blast the field every turn. Add unwinding clock for scoops all round
strionic resonator and rings of brighthearth: turn annihilator 4 into annihilator 12
Inventor's fair and crucible of worlds: artifact of your choice every turn at the cost of a land drop
There are probably more but if there's any cards in there that don't make sense to you I'm more than happy to explain why they're there.
