Forecast predicts a 25% chance of either Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund or Dragonlord Kolaghan , a 25% chance of Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury , a 25% chance of Scourge of the Throne , a 25% chance of Atarka, World Render , and a 100% chance of DEATH by 160-180 combat damage (Depending on which dragons you fetched).
This combo is so fantastically undo-able, people always just grin and fold when I pull it off, they're never upset. Its incredible fun when it happens, even if it only happened once or twice for me in my entire past of EDH.
Disclaimer : Don't run this combo unless you're INSANE. Its 6-7 cards you have to put in your deck for no reason (Dragon storm, rituals). However, just running a single copy of Dragonstorm for the odd chance of an insane game alllowing you to pull it off for 4 dragons is very fun.
P.S : You can do this with Sarkhan Unbroken too, its much simpler.
Also, Avaricious Dragon is amazing. If anyone mindcontrols your Scion, you make them PAY.
I'm still not playing Magic regularly, having sold my decks due to lack of playtime.
Recently my friends have coerced me to play a couple games, and after doing so I messed around on Cockatrice and updated the deck.
I'm not going to go through my reasoning for all the changes as this is no longer an official primer, and frankly I'm lazy.
However, I will touch on a few topics that I found interesting on the off chance there's anyone else who still cares about Scion.
On the Quality of Dragon cards the past few blocks.
First off, I have to say "Just, wow." It seems dragons are becoming more and more like slivers, and in the process we are alleviated of so many headaches.
With cards like Atarka, World Render and Duelist's Heritage, gone are the days of struggling to have the correct damage modifiers. Dragonlord Kolaghan is one of my favorite additions, as he is a safe version of Karrthus for those of us that play against clones/reanimation, and he is a straight upgrade from Rorix. And with our bounty of haste sources, we can safely replace Aurelia with Scourge of the Throne.
Learn from the Past, Bring to Light, & Day's Undoing
With Learn from the Past we finally get targetable graveyard shuffle on an instant.
This card can do it all; it restocks dragons, prevents reanimation, stops combo, and even draws us another card.
Bring to Light is just amazing.
It's what I always had wanted in Wargate at a more affordable cost, and it hits instants and sorceries.
It can cast us Hatred, Savage Beating, Day's Undoing, or any removal we might need. It's whatever we need right when we need it.
Day's Undoing has the downside of being vulnerable to recursion in our yard, but it does wonders for our curve.
It's an affordable Time Twister that makes sure we hit out land drops early on, something which should be even more of a priority with the standardization of mulliganing. (Let's face it, Partial Paris was broken).
Sarkhan Unbroken
Finally the Sarkhan card dragon decks need.
Card draw with mana fixing and an ultimate that wins the game!?
Hands down my favorite walker ever.
On the tuck rule change.
This is both a blessing and a curse.
It gives us more room to stretch our wings, but limits our ways to deal with other aggressive generals.
If you haven't already, it would be wise to throw in some additional counterspells and combo prevention.
Thank you to all who continue to read this guide; I hope it has been helpful.
I may be back again with more updates as new sets are released.
The new list is available at the beginning of the thread.
Why no original duals? They're mentioned in your primer yet you aren't using them. Same with Mana Drain. I would assume it's for budgetary reasons but you're running Timetwister. Also, you've listed Bring the Light twice. Was the one listed under the "Show and Tell" heading actually supposed to be Show and Tell? I really like your list, though. I've been on more of a reanimation style Scion build, and am looking to tweak it a bit.
The extra Bring the Light was an oversight. I forgot to put Scion on the list, and that was taking up his slot.
Ah, the shocks used to be because of budget concerns. I sold my decks of a couple years ago and only really play on cockatrice, which is why Timetwister is on the list now. The original duals would replace the shocks and Mana Drain would replace Plasm Capture. I wouldn't use both sets of duals though because you risk getting trapped in a wedge at the beginning of the game (6 cards, for example, would correspond to Esper). It's also important obviously, to have basics to avoid nonbasic hate, and not get left behind if someone plays something which ramps the board.
Thank you, I've put a lot of time into it. There weren't a whole lot of lists when I started and most of them stalled after Bolas > Tyrant, requiring multiple turns to kill each remaining player off, which is pretty bad politically and just plain inefficient. Its really cool that I've been able to share the final product with so many people, and maybe inspire a few decks along the way.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
If combo should die before I wake I'll slide a Smokestack in every deck I play, roll in every shop wreck the Spirit of EDH.
Awesome. Looking for the missing pieces now. I don't have Magus of the Moat, but I do have Moat. I'm assuming that's an acceptable replacement? And I totally agree on regular duals replacing shocks and not doubling up. That's how my current list is set up now. Totally bypass shocks, but I do have some M10 lands, etc. Looking forward to trying this out!
edit BTW you have Ancient Tomb listed twice now. Maybe Homeward Path instead? Strip Mine?
Moat is more than acceptable lol.
Yeah, the 2nd was supposed to be a Command Beacon.
You could probably use mine or path instead though.
Awesome, Let me know how it goes!
Might want to go over the rite of rep combo a few times in your head if you're going to use it.
I end up having to explain it fairly often, and it helps to run through it if its been a while.

In my Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck, I run this following combo as one of my winning comboes, its VERY very strange, but that is what makes it fun.
Diabolic Revelation Tutors for Seething Song + Sol Ring + (1/2 more rituals ) + DRAGONSTORM . Then, next turn.....
