Late to the game but: Boast isn't going to work for me. My meta is pretty much always just going to block and kill the Firewalker, and there's too much better draw in red and colorless for 3 mana already. I also don't really like Birgi's first ability, since it soft-forces us to play spells. These are not for me.
Then. Strixhaven. I didn't see anything I'm excited about I'm afraid apart from maybe Audacious Reshapers. Or did I miss something?

A hobby is by defenition something you're not any good at - otherwise it'd have been your work. Magic is my biggest hobby so I mustn't be very good at it.
Fervent Mastery - Ehh? 5 mana is a lot. It's still a 3 card tutor in red, so it's something... It's probably worth testing, but I sorta sneer at the downsides and cost, personally.
Strixhaven Stadium - Maybe? We do a lot more non-combat damage than combat damage, but it's a fun idea.
Commander 2021 Review:
Audacious Reshapers - This hurts, and I think it's too likely to find a mana rock, but it's a cool effect all the same.
Battlemage's Bracers - I feel like this could break something, but until I've figured out exactly whether or not I have something I want to break with it, I'm not slotting it in.
Cursed Mirror - Cool card. Again, needs something to break, but it's pretty cool in and of itself. Might be synergistic enough intrinsically.
Rionya, Fire Dancer - I know we're not super heavy on the spellcasting, but this card just feels like untapped potential waiting to happen. Might try to go this direction.
Triplicate Titan - What?! It's a Wurmcoil Engine at 9 mana? That has flying and vigilance? That seems really good. I'd probably only ever Welder this, but it's a really good target for that. Definitely a consideration.
This is probably one of the last times I'm posting here. I've been growing away from the game and don't play very often, as I've mentioned in the past. My experience on this site has had ups and downs.
I was an irregular for a while, then eventually started paying attention to various eternal format decklists, particularly EDH, and Custom Set Creation. I was here for a couple years as a moderator of Debate and Vintage, looking to moderate Commander throughout the entire time I was in those positions. Moderation had some fun moments, but I was constantly being ridiculed, scapegoated, gaslit, and held to a double standard by other staff, particularly senior staff. I stepped down when I realized that it had gotten to be too much, in the middle of such a conversation with one of the admins. I dealt with serious depression throughout my time as a moderator, and while I was allowed to take a break from the site, the site staff atmosphere was still not a helpful one.
Given the closing of Debate, I made a Debate discord, which is still a comfortable and active hangout to this day for the former MtGS Debate community.
Through my staff position, I met a few people I still call friends, one of whom got me into Mafia here. I enjoyed playing in the mafia section for a while and eventually branched out to other sites. I still regularly came back to MtGS to check spoilers, post set reviews, and occasionally play or host some mafia.
This Norin thread has been one of my favourite last links to this site, even as the spoilers are no longer useful (I use Mythic Spoiler), a chunk of the community no longer posts here, and my interest in Magic has declined alongside my rate of playing the game and my opinion of WotC as a company.
All in all, though, I feel old. I feel like even if I didn't feel now like WotC is an awful company, I'd still feel left behind by Magic. The designs don't feel designed for me. I don't get that sense of excitement that I used to get from new sets and new cards. And I'm only 28 years old.
I'll check back here a bit if I have the time this month, but I don't expect to be regularly posting set reviews or anything else for a while. With the mafia community moving on from MtGSalvation, I can finally let the site go.
Ending on one of my favourite Doctor Who quotes feels fitting:
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I swear. I will always remember..."
Similarly, this is one of the few threads I follow here still, since there isn't a Norin thread on MTGNexus. A large chunk of Commander/EDH folks moved there, but even then I'm more active on discord and have been playing paper games over webcam.
Thanks for monitoring the thread and doing updates/discussion. And good luck to you.

Darnit, Osie, I hate to see you go. Like Lyonhaert and you are saying, Norin is my only remaining link to mtgsalvation, and the thread has been dying for a while now. Personally I have never been one of the most active contributors, but I've been here for years and have enjoyed giving my few cents every once and a while. Currently, I really have to remind myself to visit every now and then and I'm not even here on a weekly basis now. With your departure, I feel like Norin is vanishing even more - no pun intended. I hope you'll find the joy in Magic back somehow, someday. For me, it's still a break from reality, even with all it's ups and downs. All the best, and I hope to find a post from you ocasionally.

I just found out about this primer and I really want to try it. I am leaning more to first goldfishing or proxying osieorb's whole list before creating my own. I have no idea how it works and wins due to my inexperience, and I cannot find orsie on the RC discord for some reason. Could anyone help me out by explaining the functions of the decklist? It would be much appreciated
Dropped by to say my thanks to you osie! I've been a long time lurker on here, for my 'pet-deck' and the periodic review of new series.
I can relate to what you are feeling with regards to the game as it is now opposed to what it once was.
Thanks for all your work with the site and this primer in particular. It is really the best send-off for new Norin-players that I know off.
It always surprises my how competitive this deck can be, if it all goes to plan (never lost a match with Norin in play and Confusion in the Ranks resolved). Last week I played a game with a new player to commander, I thought it would be nice not to get a cEDH deck so I opted for Norin instead. And I kept a classic Staxx opening hand with t2 Tangle Wire + Welder, to be followed with T5/6 Smokestack while Norin + Purph kept a certain ending for opponents in sight...Maybe not my finest moment in terms of getting a new player 'on board'...
But this deck to me embodies everything I like about MtG, it's a solid deck that is just an unpredictable adventure every time you play it.

true and if you're running mogg infestation turning the little myr into 2 gobies each starts loading the board up with this type. Edit: ohh, it's 1/1 red creatures. not goblins! Still, different type again.
Good point. I got it and put it in with the expectation of getting a ton of myr and dropping it. I may drop it also for the cost or keep and drop another higher cost cardOmen Machine instead. I'm focusing on the basic concept of Norin but also adding in a few more chaotic cards.

Just figured I would bump with a fun link for any that still read here. I made a deck on Norin with him in the 99 but it looks like the deck will have a lot of consistency in getting him out and about still. In case anyone wants to take a peak.

How you've been well.
Well, still here is a vague stance. I check in every few months mostly to see if I have any PMs but all of my new stuff is over on Nexus these days. Ohhhh Marton lol some of the things I did back then I probably wouldn't subject a playgroup to now lol.
Been doing well, I have a kiddo now days and my wife works a lot of nights when I could normally play commander so due to my child my games have been less frequent. I played some 1v1 against a buddy yesterday and it had been the first time playing in like.... two months.
Ps.. I gyess i need to move to mtgnexus. Thank you as always.
There was a very long and annoying history when curse owned salvation that mostly the staff of salvation knew but in short in the last two or three years of being owned by curse we got just flat out zero assistance from developers outside of things that outright broke the site. The curse devs created a deckbuilder tool for the site which was the last thing they did and immediately pulled any assistance from the site after creating it never addressing the myriad of bugs that we attempted to report to them on the tool.
After getting zero attention for a few years curse decided to shut down salvation as they didn't feel they could transition it to other owners. The moderator team and tecnician (Feyd_Ruin) tried to reach out to them to attempt to purchase the site from them but were denied. We were told a final closure date of salvation and Feyd_Ruin began to create MTGNexus with a frenzy as we were planning to move at that point.
Feyd was well under way of development and MTGNexus opened publicly as the closure date that was told to us came close. Then, at the absolute last moment a previous developer of curse bought out the rights to a few sites including MTGSalvation. It was really awkward as we knew that salvation had been sort of long neglected at that point and we had already created a new location via Feyd who was actively improving Nexus. On the flip side, Salvation wasn't closing but we had no idea if it was going to be updated (it hasn't) as we moved forward. Essentially all of the staff at the time was pissed and I would say something like 80% of the staff transitioned to Nexus and dropped salvation. Most of the commander players of salvation also transitioned over to nexus but some just moved over to the new discord that the RC set up (the discord is quite active if you are into that style of thing).
So, we got burned a few times and were tired of it. Nexus was set up and we knew Feyd would be active in giving it upgrades where as salvation had grown stagnant and unsure of its future. To some degree though internet forums are becoming less used and instead more social media stuff is being used these days. I like nexus and while I wouldn't call it anywhere near as active as salvation 5-10 years ago it doesn't feel like the ghost town that sally is these days.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
For the lone reader still keeping up with this thread: I will be converting my Norin list to Naya colors, with Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer at the helm. Norin essentially be 4cmc from now on for me. I've been waiting for some exciting Norin cards for quite some time, but my list is turning more and more to Mono Red Good Stuff to keep up with my meta. Hopefully the added ETB shenanigans in green and white will let me enjoy his Noriness once again.
