Bob (Not Skrillex) is staying in.
He was often better than sylvan library as over 90 percent of the time I'm taking 3 damage or less and with half of the time it's 1 or 0.
I didn't hit anything with mana cost 5 or greater because first chance we get we put those cards in the yard and with a sylvan library or top on the board we never hit anything that hurts us again.
He is definatly staying in for a while.
With that I feel like there is a super solid 99 and can't think of anything that needs to be cut. If Imperial seal was reprinted for whatever reason I wouldn't know what to add. With that said I am thinking of adding Natural State as another potential Nature's claim effect because that card is insane and State just seems like a slightly worse version of that.

The 3 cmc is hard to justify over the 1 cmc. Natural state will often kill anything. There are a few exceptions but it still takes out Sol ring, crypt, rest in peace, blood moon, plenty of grave hate, jitte, and all the swords.

So as I play this deck more and more (Honestly I think I have around 10,000 games under my belt at this point) I'm more and more sealed into the cards we already use. The more I think about the cards on the test list I find more reasons to not add them

Merfolk Lotter/Thought Courier <<<<<< Jace/Bob
No reason to add these guys back in when the other 2 drops both are faster and honestly miles better.

Morbid Curiosity: Had this in the list fairly recently and cut it to test out Bob but the more I think about it the less likely it is to return. Without a good setup with Tasigur it's bad and this is assuming I'm not already doing anything that turn, which I should.

Ancient Exvaction: At 4 mana it's just too slow, the land search is good and all but paying for mana for a spell that doesn't even replace itself seems bad. Especially since we often only have enough cards in hand for this to be useful when we have Jin/Sphinx in which case we shouldn't waste 4 mana on a winmore.


That comes down to
Imperial seal which obviously is a ton of cash
Natural state, still wondering about this card. I think it's better than Krosan Grip but not sure where it stands against something like Naturalize. One mana is a lot when games can often swing in someone's favor in the first few turns. That turn 1 kill of an important rock can send players back a good amount. That said, it doesn't kill Humility, omniscience, dream halls, or batterskull. Important cards that make me stare at natural state and wonder if it's worth it. Also doesn't help that I'm not sure if anything in the 99 can be replaced. If anything an extra reanimation spell or filter spells may be cut but honestly I'm not certain on that at all.

I like Krosan Grip for my meta but I could see an argument for replacing it with Natural State, I do often use the grip in situations where the split second isn't necessary. Split second is just so good sometimes though.

My LGS is going to begin a weekly competitive EDH two-headed giant with random pairing, would you recommend anything different with this in mind? Obviously this deck will do great already in this setting I feel like, just curious

Depending on who you're paired with something like Phantasmal image or Phyrexian Metamorph can go a long way since they're essentially the best creature on the board

@DTDB Since you are the resident reanimator of the forum, how would you build Yidris? I want to incorporate bits from your BUG shell plus splashing red

Doesn't seem like much here but a lot of those cards are pretty powerful. Problem is you need more cards in the deck so you can win when you have infinite mana since Yidris isn't an out there

Pretty much. Once you have infinte mana in Yidris you're not guaranteed a win since the general doesn't win with mana so you'll need a couple more cards in the deck that combo well to get you the win. Rune scarred demon and eternal witness both work fairly well there

How did yesterday go, destroyed everyone or what?

I'm actually trying GUBR, but with Thrasios and Vial Smasher. Thrasios is easy to cast before and after comboing off Dragon.

Ok so shout out to Terracrux games to having this 2HG tourney. They were expecting something like 10-15 teams and had close to 30. First place was a box of Eternal masters, while 2nd-7th got store credit. My partner and I signed up and altered our decks to optimize for 2HG reanimator. I swapped out Carpet of flowers for Phyrexian metamorph mostly because I had no idea how blue the meta here will be and he has tons of creatures that's great to copy. The rounds are best of 1 and 90 minutes long (WHY ARE PEOPLE PLAYING AGGRO THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU)
60 life, 15 infect, and I swear someone is playing a precon somewhere.

So we went in as Tasigur, the golden fang and Karador, ghost chieftain AKA: Team Discovery Channel.
Round 1 vs Azami, lady of scrolls and Kruphix, god of horizons
So they go first and play a birds + nothing. We play lands and pass. Kruphix plays sol ring and azami does plays the thing that makes wizards and merfolk cost less. End of turn Karador plays Entomb on Iona, and I mystical tutor for Reanimate. We name blue.
Unfortunately Kruphix has beast within on his turn. Fortunately Karador has animate dead and I have phyrexian Metamorph. This game is over

Round 2 vs Sigarda, host of herons and Rashmi, Eternities Crafter
BOTH opponents got a turn one sol ring....ugh.
However Karador has a mana crypt and a reclamation sage for Rashmi. Sigarda gets cast a few turns later after I get Jace, vryn's Prodigy. I have intuition mana open but Rashmi has 2 blue so I hold off since I have swan song and friends. We take 10 sigarda damage and then end of turn I intuition grabbing Palinchron, Jin, and Deadeye. With Jace all 3 go to the yard. Karador has living death in hand...however didn't draw a land so he reanimates Jin-Gixatias and I keep it alive thanks to counters. He draws a land and casts Living death so I can palinchron/deadye and he gets Boonweaver giant combo. Both of us combo out the same turn.

Round 3 vs Radha, Heir to Keld and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
I can't beileve we haven't gone first yet. And I can't beileve Kozilek gets a turn one sol ring and Radha get a turn 2 sol ring into Bloodbraid. Hits some card that forces me to sac an artifact/Enchantment. I have mana crypt and arcane denial/thirst in hand. I thirst instead since I have void winnower in hand and just need to hit a land. I do. Both Radha and Kozilek don't cast spells for the rest of the game. Which was like 2 turns later since Karador reanimates Palinchorn which untaps his homeward path and I reanimate deadeye for the win. Good job Void Winnower.

Round 4 vs Oloro, Ageless Ascetic and Teferi, Temporal Archmage
So I keep a hand with Necromancy, Mana drain, force of will, Phyrexian Metamorph, 2 lands. Karador keeps a land, survival of the fittest, enlightened tutor. I don't know if you guys can tell but we're dumb and should NOT have kept that. So turn one he tutors for Mana crypt and I play a land. Teferi gets as turn one sol ring (Naturally). Karador plays crypt into survival and I have doulble blue open.
Karador has to survival to get dryad arbor and allows me to necromancy Gaddock teeg but he gets Chain of vapor and then Teferi is cast.
Oloro strip mines karador's savannah and karador is not able to get lands. He survivals for someberwald sage later but at that point the two lands I have drawn are homeward path and ancient tomb. Ugh we lose.
3-1. While the next round is starting I wanted to play against the other undefeated team to see how it would have been if we played and we beat them twice in a row. Which makes it more frustrating. I like using games at a learning experience but man was that frustrating. I'm certain that 9 times out of 10 we would have won but oh well. That's part of the game I don't want to dwindle on that since I feel like that's bad sportsmanship.



Round 5 vs Azami, lady of scrolls and Purphoros, God of the Forge
These guys we're also 3-1 with only losing the last round to the people we tested our decks against. Turn one I get mana crypt + land and negate the turn one sol ring my opponents had (So satisfying) and the next turn I beast within the land he has. Afterwards the only land he played was a temple of the false god. So now we're on 2 v 1 against Azami solo. He tapped out to play Azami which left us with an Iona coming down and winning that turn.

We get 125 store credit and with my half I get a Blood moon and Jace, vryn's Prodigy yay
The winners opened a box in the store and got 7 foil pilgrims eye, What?
The box seemed ok but I'm pretty glad with what I got.
Anyway it's kinda annoying that my perfect record at commander tournaments is gone but I can always blame my team mate if someone asks, right?

I actually was thinking this as well. I was considering Thrasios and Ravos since adding white seems better than adding red.
We don't gain Worldgorger combo but Karmic guide -> Deadeye is infinite mana so buried alive/intuition plus reanimation is a win as well.

We also gain Iona, elesh norn, and ashen rider which are far better options than any creature red gets.

Noble Heirach, vindicate, auguished unmaking, saffi, gaddock teeg, loyal retainers, there are a ton of fantastic cards we could gain.

My concern is would it be better than a 1 mana general that's nearly always 1 mana? The generals aren't often used here but Thrasios is only 2 mana and once you have infinite who really cares how much mana they are.
I'm highly considering it

10 duals
Tarnished citadel, city of brass, mana conflulence, command tower, exotic orchard, bazaar, coliseum, urbog.


Dark Confidant may be cut since the average cmc will likely go up with much better reanimation targets
Eldritch evolution would be cut without Tasigur.
I'll be working on potential cards to add today if I go through with this.
I like this idea better than Breya since it's not removing green at all and adding white seems super strong since we still have a card that is both an infinite outlet and gives card advantage for 4 mana as well. Ravos is just icing I guess.
I know this isn't the best deck ever made but I want it to be the best possible reanimator deck so switching to a different general would be worth it (Dispite the massive change in write up I'd do)

I have to be honest, In the few testing goldfishing I did it seemed insane.
Adding Iona and Gaddock teeg is so nice.

The 5 color lands may be more important. It's obviously not going to be as good but totally possible.
The plan is get infinite mana and then draw your deck and cast lab man plus any draw spell. You have infinite mana and you're library in hand so you should be able to counter everything if needed.
Cephilid Colliseum is a decent sub for Bazaar if you want to win via tapping a land but any spell that draws a card should do it.
I agree that losing a 4/5 for 1 is bad but gaining access to Iona, Loyal retainers, Karmic guide, and Elesh Norn seems worth it. I'll have to test it a good amount (After buying the duals, ugh)

So I said the hell with it and bought the cards to test 4c reanimator.

Borrowing the 3 extra duals from other decks but aside from that the cards needed are fairly cheap (Thankfully have a noble heirarch)

I need to just narrow down to a solid 98 to test out and will be playing it tomorrow and let you guys know how it goes. I'm expecting it to be better than Tasigur, if not then at least I have all these neat white cards to trade

I personaly prefer the tools red adds (looters and combos mainly), but can respect the fatties white bring to the table. It certainly lets you reanimate more valuable creatures.

In your list, I would add an infinite colorless mana combo (from rocks) as a way to ignore gravehate.

What kind of things are you using for Red in your deck? I can't imagine that outweighting what White gives me here.

Aside from infinite mana from Chron/deadeye I have tainted pact/lab man for another win con. Another infinite mana from pure colorless would be good but I want them to be useful from themselves and right now I'm really trying to narrow down to the ideal decklist for adding white so that may be a while. White adds so many excellent cards that need to be tested

I like how the red looters speed up the deck, also Faithless Looting is great in Intuition piles, gives you access to the Wheel, Dragon and Twin combos are nice wincons, Dack is awesome. Blasts are good too.

White on the other hand gives you big creatures which is nice in its own way.

The two combos it gives you make me a bit nervous. I play in a group with a ton of answers so worldgorger is super risky and Kiki/combo adds 2 cards that are not great buy themselves.
I like Dack, Wheel, blasts, and I think Izzet charm would be great too.

I'm testing the deck with add white today and hopefully it's everything I ever imagined and more

Kiki is equivalent to Chron/Deadeye, but I agree that Drafon is very risky. I'm hoping that the fact that we usually have few resources in play will mitigate the drawback.

Yeah, red looting is really great and cheap, speeding us up.

Ideally we would have a useful 5c general to let us just jam everything.

That's likely the end goal. If there's a general that also wins with infinite mana like Tasigur or Thrasios then it will likely be the poster child for a long time

Sliver queen is close. Infinite token, but they can't attack if you get infinite mana on your own turn.
