For the most part I like it as in its powerful and knows what its trying to do but we do have a difference in deck building philosphy, Ramp'n tutor blergh. I will highlight some cards that don't seem great for what you are trying to do.

Wild-field scarecrow? thats a bad card I can think of 20 better creatures in that slot, why pick that one. Junk diver, myr retriever, Scarecrone, that one even sacs itself.

There are a few others I am wondering if I am missing the combo for them, you have this werid mix of goodstuff and badstuff haha.

You have the small black card draw cards night's whisper and read the bones.. thay seem so small time in commander. I have the baubles to draw a ton of cards and they are lower mana cost and synergise with my commander you loop them once you got value.

I do question is Glissa better than Meren or any other GB commander though, she returns some of your combo pieces I guess but otherwise your deck is mostly just a GB deck.

Hey guys, I'm popping back in for some quick updates.

First of all, the promised rewrite is completed and live! The primer has been rewritten from the ground up, featuring new decklists for alternate strategies, updated card descriptions, and strategies to represent the evolution Commander has undergone in the time since the initial publication. If you spot any errors (missing card tags, typos, etc.) please let me know. If you read through the list, you'll also see one card has changed...

Boompile - The Boompile is a chaotic, updated take on the venerated Nevinyrral's Disk, with one unique twist. Activation is free and destroys planeswalkers...but is determined by coin flip. This card is replacing Unstable Obelisk, which is fine, but only hits one permanent at a time.

This is my variant of the Death Trap from mtggoldfish was wondering if anyone has any suggestions, ideas or comments? I haven't gotten a chance to playtest this build. I normally play 4player edh.

Trixster87 why play so much manarocks while playing also 3 boardwipes that destroy them?

I know you can reccur them with glissa but you must recast them afterwards. I feel having access to green grants better ramp options.

I tried to keep the rocks that do things besides ramp. So I can sac them before the spell for card draw.

You gonna do an update for Aether Revolt because the set has some really awesome cards for this deck. Scrap Trawler, Aid from the cowl, Treasure Keeper, Walking Ballista, Paradox Engine, Inspiring Statuary, Implement of Ferocity, Implement of Malice are all great cards for this deck in my opinion.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the revolution has arrived! Aether Revolt is here, and we've got a few new cards to power up the deck.

Treasure Keeper - No, not the binder of 90's fame, TK is a better version of Matter Reshaper, in that when it dies, instead of taking a chance at the top card of the library, it literally cascades to find a 3 or less CMC card to cast. I'm cutting Traverse the Ulvenwald, which wasn't working out as intended.

Planar Bridge - As a big mana deck, when you've got mana to start breaking faces, there's no easier way to get rolling than the Planar Bridge. Eight mana sounds like a lot, but being able to call on Eldrazi titans at instant speed is no laughing matter. Unfortunately, you don't get a cast trigger when summoning creatures this way, but the sheer utility makes it worth a shot. It is with a sad heart that Lurking Predators is being retired from the deck. It's always been a solid roleplayer, but I'm hoping the Gate takes its potential even further.

That's the updates. I know there are some cards people might've thought are missing. Here's my reasoning (and I'd love additional feedback for those who've used them!)

Implements - Simply put, neither implement does enough to warrant a slot. They're cutesy at best.
Aid from The Cowl - A worse Lurking Predators that triggers once per turn cycle instead of every time an opponent casts a spell. Considering LP just got a reprint in Commander 2016 at dirt-cheap prices, leave this one in the bulk box.
Paradox Engine - I'm not huge on this card for this particular deck, as there's very little worth untapping nonlands for five mana. With no mana rocks or dorks, very little in the way of abusable multi-tap shenanigans (the only creature that can even kind of benefit from this is Hangarback Walker) makes this an unappealing pick. Save this for artifact-intensive or dork-heavy decks that can really abuse this ability.
Inspiring Statuary - Another unique card that acts as a pseudo-mana rock and allows you to cast your nonartifact spells cheaper. While interesting, most of our artifacts cycle to the graveyard pretty quickly, or require tap triggers to activate (such as Horizon Spellbomb, Nevinyrral's Disk, and Executioner's Capsule.) Another pick for a heavy artifact build that wants to go all-in on the strategy.
Walking Ballista - I keep going back and forth on this card. I like the similarities to Hangarback Walker, and that you can shoot creatures in order to gain triggers, including getting back the Ballista itself if you can dump all the counters before letting Glissa's trigger resolve. Keep an eye on this one.
Scrap Trawler - Quite simply, a lot of the artifacts that hit the graveyard are CMC 1, meaning that they can literally only retrieve Hangarback Walker at best. This is another card that needs to be played to be properly evaluated.

Any updates on the deck? it looks like Uncage the Menagerie would be a slam dunk for X=6.

It's been over a year since the primer's been updated... and we've seen cards like Dowsing Dagger, Vraska, Relic Seeker, and Journey to Eternity/Atzal, Cave of Eternity printed.

Is this Primer dead?

I am not really interested in any of those cards. I guess vraska is okay but its not much better than the original Vraska and my deck is all 6 drops and I don't want another.

Is it dead? I don't know sometimes I think every green black plays meren now instead of all these other options.

I play Marionette master and scrap trawler from kaladesh block and I should put in walking ballista, I just only recently obtained one for my modern deck. I am probably just going to wait until it rotates out of standard and pick it up cheaply.

I need to put in a walking ballista.

There are plenty of turbo durdle cards particularly the Post, Panharmonicon and Vedalken orrey that are very optional and I have all these 6 drops which bothers me but at the same time they are all very strong cards. I also don't have a huge amount of basics so you can't loop burnished hart that much.

This deck is so much cooler than the other BG primers. I wish the OP still updated it.

Well here is an update for you. They keep printing really good cards so my deck gets less and less durdly. I own walking ballista's but I am using them in my modern deck and KCI is stupidly expensive now but should probably be in my deck.

Mishra's self-replicator is my new durdle engine haha. my deck is built to make tokens and build armies out of cans (then recur those cans) so It seems to fit well here. I am just not sure if an army of 2/2s is even good.

The vedalken orrey is what gets cut for KCI I don't know where to squeeze in walking ballista. My land count is getting dangerously low.

Has anybody made a update for this deck of the original theme/goal? Going big with lots of mana. The Deck is great as-is. But i was wondering if there are some gems to add to the deck to make it better.
