It turns out I actually had a copy of Glen Elendra Archmage, so I swapped her for Riftsweeper. After trying unsuccessfully too many times with this card, it's finally out for good.
I run a similar deck without the in it (Jhoira), and it's good to see another deck that revels in being chaotic without feeling the need to completely destroy everyone else's fun. The deck has been a staple of mine for years, and though it's changed a few times, it's the one deck I've never dismantled. Glad to know you're enjoying the archetype.

Aren't wheel effects fun, btw?
It still gets some frowny faces when I win since it is a combo deck at heart. But the deck is really fun to play and there's a few players who like when I play it.
I am modeling my Maelstrom Wanderer deck on yours, but am running my pet card, Kaboom! for some random damage. It is extra fun with Hive Mind.
Cheers!
Thanks! Glad you like it. I saw Kaboom! and considered it, but when best case scenario I'm dealing 7 damage to a player, it didn't seem all that spectacular outside of Hive Mind.
Hey cryo, I tried to figure out why you are only running basic lands. Could you explain that in a bit more detail? Price of Progress is the only card I could find in your list that punishes players for running nonbasic lands.

Well originally I was also running Primal Order and considered other nonbasic hate as well. Plus, thematically I like the idea of having the different basic lands to represent the planes of the multiverse. With the current build though, you're right that there's very little reason not to run more nonbasics and have better mana smoothing.
Out: Mountain, Hive Mind,Rites of Flourishing, Oracle of Mul Daya
In: Homeward Path, Perplexing Chimera, Peregrine Drake, Guided Passage
Thoughts: Chimera is a perfect card for the deck, so naturally Path has to join it. Guided Passage is a tutor that bypasses my no tutor rule, and I realized that Oracle actually breaks my rule of not knowing what happens next.
I also fixed a few errors in the thread. As for the deck itself, I finally got basic lands from each plane in the multiverse with no overlap.

One thing I really like about guided passage is it really helps you figure out the weaker cards in your deck. If people are consistently choosing a few cards, it's time to re-evaluate them. This of course depends on the play level of your opponents.
Out: Crystal Shard, Bloodbraid Elf, Reiterate, Stitch in Time, Wheel of Fortune
In: Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, Uyo, Silent Prophet, Zealous Conscripts, Into the Wilds, Rites of Flourishing
Thoughts: I’ve decided that in order to enhance the theme of the deck I want to minimize the redundant effects. So out came Crystal Shard, Wheel of Fortune, and Stitch in Time. Bloodbraid is a fun cascade, but I don’t run many 3 and under cards that I want to cascade into, and Reiterate can be a dead cascade. This let me bring Rites back (which is on theme as a fun plane for players) and Into the Wilds for more ramp. Uyo is the replacement for Reiterate, and I’m going to test Kiki/Scripts out.
I took your suggestion and looked this up; this list looks hilariously fun! This is exactly what I am hoping to build, with changes for my own flavor and style.
I've been bitten by the 'Spirit of EDH' bug again, so I'm revisiting this deck. I haven't touched it in well over a year, so the OP is horribly out of date. This time around the drive is TSoEDH rather than Planechase, so I tried to build a deck that would be fun against casual strangers. Broken and powerful cards are fine because that is the fun thing about the format, but hopefully I can't abuse them. I'm still in the goldfish phase, so I think I need at least one more land.

I'm currently trying to decide on my next commander deck and Maelstrom Wanderer is on the list. (Others include Child of Alara, Horde of Notions, and Progenitus)
