Jack, I hope this Junior year of high school is just as good or better as your last three! Remember though, you don't want to start looking older than the teachers!

You'll almost ALWAYS have metalcraft and free equip is superior to insta-equip.
Ah, I put him in there mainly for Geist of Saint Traft, but that may not be enough of a reason.
Geist of Saint Traft is such a fun card, I like how I can bounce him or use Maze of Ith, and send an angel with a sword at any player.
Then if he dies I can bring him back with Sun Titan.
What do you think, should I use both Leonin Shikari and Puresteel Paladin or just axe the Shikari?
And speaking of which, have you considered Cranial Plating?
That with Inkmoth Nexus can get pretty scary
This is AWESOME!

Salvaging station is a hallmark in the deck, though I've often questioned if it pulled enough weight. If lotus bloom didn't exist, I'd seriously consider cutting it now that Trading Post is a card.
Hoping I can bump with a major testing update by the weekend. Keep your eyes peeled.

Also, you should be posting new ideas for Jarad!
RAWR!
Absolutely correct. Outside of Trading Post (which obviously had a spot regardless of testing), there's little new I'm thinking about doing. I want to test out Snapcaster Mage-my reasoning behind this is that the deck wants to squeeze a ton of value out of everything it does, in the shortest amount of time possible. With so many low CMC tutors and cards, Snapcaster in a pinch could give us a redundant way to fire off. Also, he would increase the Gangnam Style of this list by about a million.

There's been an increase of general-centric strategies in my area lately. Animar, Hana and more. I'm considering increasing the amount of tuck in the deck. Our options are as follows:
of these, Hollowed Burial, Terminus and Oblation are my first choice. I really detest adding another sweeper into the deck, but it could come in handy for board control. Oblation could easily replace Swords to Plowshares. It wouldn't be the first time I've made that swap.
Which would you add, Terminus/Hollowed Burial/both? Terminus would add power to Mystical Tutor, that's really the only advantage I can say it has.

Oblation is a hard one, if they have lots of tutors it's not as good.
You can always use Phyrexian Metamorph as a reusable kill card too.
Oblation is versatile because if you needed to you could sac a thopter for the draw.
If peoples generals are really a problem I would put it in, but maybe sideboard Swords to Plowshares or Ashes to Ashes.
I like Terminus over Hollowed Burial personally, the Miracle sells the one extra mana.
Btw, my friends decided to also build some decks that are more competitive.
So yeah, I'm going to have a lot of fun with Sharuum and maybe even build a stax deck as well. :3
Wait-
I just realized how badly I misplayed Saturday against Animar >.< I completely forgot Engineered Explosives was in the deck. Blargh.
No matter. I'm still considering swapping out Swords for Oblation. STP is a great 1 CMC creature solver, but Oblation offers versatility for a minimal investment.
Terminus is a great card-but I'd really hate to add a non-recursive board sweeper. I'm going to look over the list in greater detail when I get home and see what-if anything-can be cut. Terminus is by far the best option, and frankly, one more board wipe can't hurt that much.

Aether could be used as a substitute for Sculpting Steel, but given Sculpting Steel's versatility this won't happen. However, it makes an excellent board control device and is politically neutral. Saccing creatures is hardly a bad thing in the current list, and if all else fails, we can blow it up with Dispeller's Capsule.
I'm going to be testing it this weekend in substitution for either Engineered Explosives or some random selection. I'll give a full report on Monday.

Tainted Aether went in over Engineered Explosives this weekend. The testing pool consisted of the following:
Ghave
Phelddagrif (Draw a lot of cards, kill everyone with WSZ/USZ/Squall Line)
5 cc Random Stuff
WB Vish Kal Voltron
In a series of 8 games, Aether made an appearance in 5. While having a higher mana cost and less versatility than Engineered Explosives, Aether kept Ghave and Vish Kal in check by forcing their board to maintain an abundance of creatures to accomodate the dudes they actually WANTED on the field. Coincidently, Aether almost shut down Ghave's combos completely, which was VERY impressive.
I attempted to use it as a combo piece twice, succeeding once. It is by no means a replacement for Sculpting Steel-in a deck with more redundant Sharuum trigger combo targets, I could see the application. But in a list as tight as this, I don't believe it takes precedence over any other given Combo piece.
Overall, I was impressed with the card's multiplayer application, but not to the point of including it in the current list. For all the problems the group gave me, I was still able to combo off regularly and/or shut them down before they were capable of winning. Vish Kal was even running Griselbrand due to it's legality in our playgroup, and still lacked the necessary speed to win. Aether neither gave nor detracted from that speed, merely adjusted the way in which I interacted with the table.
Which brings me to my next point-the only reason I wasn't killed for playing this card was due to the severe lack of enchantment disruption and lack of creatures maintained on the board. This card is VERY politically offensive in an already offensive deck. This is counterproductive to how we wish to play Sharuum entirely.
I rule that Tainted Aether works best in the Control centric builds of Sharuum, or ones which focus solely on the Sharuum-trigger Bitter Ordeal combo. Otherwise, it is an excellent sideboard card in a Token-heavy meta, or in one which focuses solely on aggro.

I seem to be having this dilemma in many of my lists too, you find a card you like, and the performs well, yet actually including it is another step beyond. I think what happens is our lists get so tuned that for a new card to actually make it into the deck, it has to blow away something we already run.

What's even worse with Sharuum is that it takes an artifact-heavy block like Scars of Mirrodin to produce even a small selection of cards worth including. The most recent addition was Trading Post-I honestly can't remember how long before that I found a card absolutely worth including within the list. I'm hoping RTR gives me some sort of draw-ditch spell worth using, but I'm not holding my breath.
Aether would be awesome if I wasn't such an ******* about performance with this list. It's perfect for casual/Control lists.

Hi, i have build your deck on page #1, that very great I don't touch any "slot", just switch 2 card of the same effect.
I feel Compulsive research is better than Impulse.
You could put a land (playable via Crucible of worlds)
or piece of combo into yard :
creature for Reanimate or Animate dead. (i use animate dead over Reanimate, go use a Enchant (most of time artefact also) removal on that and not on a piece of combo !! Thanks !!
sculpting steel/phyrexian for combo
or SoTM wich will come back...
Depend of the game state of course.
Just my 2cents
Hrm, it's worth a thought. The primary reason for Impulses inclusion is the fact it just digs so much deeper with a minimal drawback. Compulsive Research features the card-pitch the deck loves, but there are going to be moments it falls flat due to it's drawback. Compulsive Research will usually net you 1 card on average at the cost of two from your hand, for 3 cmc at sorcery speed. Given that, I'd prefer to use Impulse.
I will give Compulsive Research a try, though.
Also, while I might be jumping the gun here, I'll say that RTR offers little towards furthering my current list. It offers plenty of budget alternatives, but frankly I've found nothing of serious interest to test.

Hi, first of all i really like your deck, and i would love to see your take in a budget list.
Second, i was wondering if the combo with Tainted Aether actually worked. The thing is that the 2 Sharuums combo works because the legend rule have super split second and Sharuum is dead before his ability goes on the stack, so when it finally does, it can target Sharuum (because now he is in the graveyard). With Tainted Aether both triggers go on the stack at the same time, so you need to declare a target for Sharuum's ability while he is still in the battlefield (even if you stack the triggers so the sac ability resolves first). I dont know if im mising something

So I've discovered Tainted Aether at last thanks to Chad, one of my followers on Twitter who is also building Sharuum. Here's his detailed take on Aether:
