Changed out Consume Spirit for Exsanguinate because duh, and then Bloodrite Invoker for Sorin's Vengeance. For a similar amount of mana, Vengeance is better.

Also, with an earlier update, I changed the Evincar to the appropriate Chancellor.

I am now looking to make this deck more competitive, while staying with a fairly tribal vamp theme. Trying to have my cake and eat it too, I know. But that's what I want the deck to be.

I added in Phyrexian Reclamation recently, for Gatekeeper of Malakir, 'cause I couldn't think of anything else to drop.

Updated OP with a more in-depth style, etc. Will be working on filling it out.

Still looking for slightly more competitive input. At least, what spells etc strike you as being "cute" or what have you rather than effective?

Changed Syphon Life for Elixir of Immortality. In all likelihood, it's more life, and lets me use all my spells again, not just one.

EDIT: Also changed Kalitas to Steel Hellkite. Not a vamp sadly, but much more useful.

The loss of two cards on Soul Spike is a hefty price.

I also don't care for Doom Blade's inability to hit popular wrecking ball creatures like Oona, Geth, Braids, Sheoldred, Grave Titan, Visara, Avatar, Nirkana Revenant, Wrexy, Thraximundar, Damia, Mimeoplasm, Sedris..

Rend Flesh is a nice alternative that hits everything relevant outside of Seedborn, Graveborn, Kira Great Glass-Spinner, and Ryusei the Falling Star.

In writing this reply, I was going to suggest Eyeblight's Ending too, but a search revealed ALOT of powerful and popular elves in the format: Momir Vig, Mayael, Nath, Glissa, Edric, Rhys, Savra, Oracle of Mul Daya, Fauna Shaman, Bloom Tender..
After discovering this, I'm going to drop it from my build..

I think Dismember hits more of the of the field than Doom Blade. I would probably run that instead.

Soul Spike was definitely more of a flavor/theme addition. That'll go when I get better cards.

I have some Rend Flesh laying around, and since I'm not sure I'll be playing Spirits again in 60/4, I'll dredge one up. Thanks for the reminder.

Ya know, in 11 packs of NPH, I didn't pull a single Dismember. Disappoint. I'll be on the lookout for one though.

Alrighty, so some proposed changes.

Soul Spike will become Caged Sun, when I get my hands on one. Because more mana doubling is delicious.

Would you drop a land for Sol Ring, considering I have 42?

Sengir Vampire, even though mine is a foil from Tenth Ed, will become Bloodline Keeper. Because who doesn't like having four lords in a deck, especially when this one has the biggest buff, and vomits out vampire babies.

I remembered Praetor's Grasp, and saw that they're only a buck, if even. :evillol:. Now I need to pick one up, but what would you recommend dropping for it?

And finally, what about Sever the Bloodline and Eradicate? Black exile is fairly rare, so I'm sorta tempted to add it. These should be considered last, though.

Not sure how popular black is in your area, but Dregs of Sorrow (the original version) seems on theme. Maybe replace doom blade with Go for the Throat? I see that you aren't immune to using the evil that is phyrexian so how about Gate to Phyrexia as it would add another useful tool.

Where is the Vampiric Tutor? You could trade soul spike for Absorb Vis, useful as a land fetch early on, or as that final nail in the coffin.

Forgot, I changed Doom Blade to that Rend Flesh. Dregs could be useful, but not unless I had Revenant and Sun in play; Hmm. I'll think on Gate to Phyrexia.

Where's the VT? Nowhere, since I don't have $20 to blow on a single card at the moment.

I'm pretty sold on "trading" Spike, a worse Corrupt, for Caged Sun, a genuinely useful card in big mana decks.

So the Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank combo is kinda really not good. I think Crank will become Praetor's Grasp, and maybe the Ascension will become Dismember.

Yeah, I was excited about that combo when it first came out, but it proved to be way too conditional. Bloodchief has to stick around for a while, Mindcrank requires getting some damage through to trigger, and neither have any immediate impact on the board.

I have regarded Dismember as the second best "fast" black removal spell in the format, (next to Rend Flesh), but I think Victim of the Night from Innistrad might actually hit more of the field.

Alrighty, INN pre-release day was pretty good for my EDH. Pulled some decent stuff, bought some decent stuff.

Drana got a hold of Dismember, Caged Sun, Black Sun's Zenith, Praetor's Grasp, and Triskelion. Will check later what got dropped for all that.

Although, I'm pretty sure at least 5 or 6 Bloodline Keepers got pulled at that game store, but I haven't been able to trade for one.

A thought, with 20 vamps have you considered Captivating Vampire? I only run 13 myself but he is another "lord" type and the "theft" could become relevant.

IS there alot of Voltron style decks in your Meta? Tribute to Hunger could be viable, esp after a board wipe.

Lololol, no worries. I spent from 10 am, to midnight, to about 2 am, playing Magic yesterday. I don't blame you.

Nah, there isn't much voltron in my meta. And between Drana, Dismember, Snuff Out, Ashes to Ashes, Profane Command, and Rend Flesh, I think I might be good on spot removal lol. Plus Zenith shuffles back in anyway, and Elixir of Immortality lets me reuse what I've already cast.

EDIT: So Temporal Extortion is getting dropped. Dunno for what yet, but it's getting dropped.

Extortion got dropped for Falkenrath Noble. Ups the vamp count again, and death triggers for life swings are always fun.

Also updated the deck in OP 'cause it was off.

Alrighty, so Sengir Vampire is going to get dropped for Bloodlord of Vaasgoth. Similar enough card, but BLV affects all my creatures. Just don't know what to drop for Bloodline Keeper.

Those are the biggun's from my order, so edits may come later.

EDIT: I also have Ghost Quarter coming in, in place of some land.
And I ordered a Sever the Bloodline. Thoughts on that one for the deck?

The Isolation Cell seems like the weakest link. Could replace that with the Sever.

What are your thoughts on running both Lashwrithe and Nightmare Lash? In other news, finally got around to putting up my Drana List.

I think LW is superior. You play the equipment and automatically have a threat/blocker on the field. If you have surplus life, you use it to equip as needed, but if you're short on life, just use your mana.

Plus, I pulled one out of my NPH fat pack so I'm a little biased lol.

Dropped Isolation Cell for Bloodline Keeper, a Swamp for Ghost Quarter, and Sengir Vampire for Bloodlord of Vaasgoth. At least in theory, my order still needs to actually come in for these changes to be true.

Briefly filled out all the explanations too.

So I can trade for either a Life's Finale or a Plague Wind for this deck.

Which one would y'all recommend springing for? Or neither? Just don't suggest a different wrath, 'cause they're not available right now.
