Hey ISB! What do you think of the new set?! I love the Goblinslide. It seems like awesome card for our build, given the amount of non-creature artifacts we run. Also, what do you think of the spell that puts three dudes in play. its right between Dragon Fodder and Goblin Rally. Both cards are okay but not that great. But this seems like a balance of the two. What do you think?
I have been recently testing out Warbreak Trumpeter. I mean it basically reads 3RXX Sorcery: Put X+1 goblin tokens in play. That seems a little steep, but I have won a game with it when I have lots of mana to sink. What do you think?
Goblinslide due to the amount of noncreature spells we play plus the fact that we play a token deck this can be a great way to blitz a few extra tokens at like any time during the game. It is great because they come in with haste and don't have to randomly attack like some other producers do. It seems highly playable and I would assume it should work nicely in this type of deck. It is cheap to drop and seems good throughout the game really.
Hordeling Outburst it is very cheap and gives a good number of bodies. My biggest concerns offhand are: 1) It doesn't scale at all 2) there is no extra versatility to it 3) its a sorcery making it bad for warp world (the smaller concern). I think it is interesting but it actually strikes me as more of an early game rush sort of tactic card. I think it is possible to run a fast aggro style of Marton where this sort of card would become more useful but you would be using very different tactics than what I am currently using in my list for that.
Howl of the Horde interesting in the fact that it can result in some very explosive things. The idea of getting 3x Warp World or something horrifying like that seems fun or smashing out 3x Tears of Rage seems also to be fun overkill. Its a winmore style of card and it belongs in a deck that has a lot of things worth copying. Unfortunately this is a Warp World style of deck which by default means it runs relatively few spells to really make this spicy.
Of these I will probably try to include Goblinslide and see what comes of it. It seems like a good one to have in play at most any time during the game.
Side Note - there has been a player who has essentially one deck only who runs Zirilan of the Claw as like his sole deck. I have been putting off playing this deck for some time due to the fact that Hellkite Tyrant is absolutely horrifying for this deck and he just has too much consistancy in getting it for me to really play this deck against him . It sounds like he is trying to get another deck up and running but for like the last year its been his go to deck making me super sad when trying to play this.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.
Weiss Schwarz Sets
Accel World, Angel Beats, Familiar of Zero, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Guilty Crown, Kill La Kill, Robotics;Notes, Sword Art Online.
Chaos Partners
Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Iona, Kirishima, Kongou.
Dangan Ronpa: Asahina, Togami.
Freezing: Vibration: Chiffon, Satelizer.
Vanguard Clans Favoured
Angel Feather, Dark Irregulars, Genesis, Neonecter, Pale Moon, Shadow Paladins, Tachikaze.
Tormenting Voice didn't jump out at you? Any red card that draws and can assist Goblin Welder deserves a look in for mono red I think.
I guess I didn't really think about mentioning it. I probably should have added it to my review but with Wild Guess being essentially the same thing I didn't really think about it. Technically its easier on the mana making it an improvement but not by much in a mono red deck. I think its decent but the effect has never really blown me away. I actually think its the sort of effect that is more useful in a graveyard based deck which I don't really consider this list to be.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
I was thinking, if you're really having a problem with Zirilan still, you should run Stranglehold. That card has put in so much work for me. It's a thought, since without it, he needs to slow roll his dragons and by then, someone or you can take him out.

It is still a matter of having few answers for his strategy and his commander sort of trumps a lot of what my deck does. Its a tough move in general and there has been an increase in the amount of non land sweepers in my meta as well of late which further sort of hates on this deck. I have to sort of mull over what my plan is right now as it feels like a bad environment to play Marton in right now.

Red is good at beating red for sure, maybe the deck just needs to be quicker, although that is hard admittedly given the lack of resilience present by virtue of the general, even so, if it can overcome a difficult metagame that is impressive. The manabase has to be the easiest thing to adapt, unless you want to run more goblins like Sting Scourger or counter activated abilities and hope you recover from sweeps.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.

I am definitely going to fit in the new land. Its a haste outlet that is hard to get rid of and can give Marton the extra edge if we are slow rolling tokens.
I was also going to ask what is the good ratio between permanents and non permanents to make Warp World more accurate in terms of hitting cards when you are revealing from the top?
Well... I have been putting this off but, I am going to retire this primer. I have had an incredibly hard time getting myself to play this deck in the last 6 months I think I have played it something like twice and I generally don't even bother bringing it with me because I generally don't really want to play it. So, as of right now I am retiring this primer as I have neglected testing and adjusting it for too long.
As for the Commander 2014 set. If I were to do a review for this deck I would probably spend some time discussing Daretti, Scrap Savant, Dualcaster Mage, and Feldon of the Third Path. In the end, I think that Daretti, Scrap Savant is probably the one I would most likely want to play of the bunch of these cards as a singleton in this deck but I think Feldon also would get more consideration but my overall somewhat low creature count would put me on the fence with him. Flamekin Village seems like a powerhouse as well so that would likely make the list.
Warp World - my own experience has been that you generally want 15% or less misses with it. I think it is something worth running as high as 20% misses depending on what your hit targets are and if you are still a token deck but beyond that it seems to fall off in effect for yourself.

I can take over for the meantime if you'd like. I run Marton on a regular basis. I can update the Primer until you want to take the reins again. Or MiffledMoogle could take over!

I have really been putting it off sadly. In the last year I might have pulled the deck out perhaps 4-6 times in total. I really do love playing red decks and this deck has been a lot of fun but I just cant get myself to play this deck much anymore for whatever reason.
It becomes an issue when I am no longer putting in the gametime to test new cards. For now, I just need to walk away from this deck and do other things sadly.

ISB, while i respect your choice to retire this primer for the time being, I admit that this does make me sad.
It is a good deck, I just found myself not playing it really at all. I tend to take apart decks if I find myself being reluctant to play them for a long span of time.

Warbreak Trumpeter - I cut Goblin Offensive a while back for Tempt with Vengeance. I would likely run Goblin Offensive again before running the Trumpeter but he does have some synergy with Imperial Recruiter, Goblin Recruiter, and Goblin Matron if you really wanted to set him up I guess it could be ok but in a lot of cases it just feels to me like there are better goblins to set up.
