Tempt with Discovery seems really good with Omnath. It seems like the only time you wouldn't gain a further advantage with it is if Cradle is already out and somebody fetches up Stripmine.
I'm going to pile on with the Craterhoof. Maybe cut Magus or Aluren? Craterhoof pretty much always wins the game when it hits. Omnath swings sometimes in the hundreds with it and I've had everything else combine into the thousands because of the behemoth.
Great guide! Decided to morph my Kamahl into an omnath deck. Would there be space for another tutor to save omnath from getting tucked? Like sylvan tutor or summoners pact?
Also, how come there are no cards like rogues passage? Unlike wisp silver cloak it won't set you back mana wise.
Lastly, if I were to include a mana crypt what should I cut?
Hello all! Just recently built my own Omnath deck. My meta has really gotten fast and competitive recently. I was sick trying to compete with fast clock/really powerful decks using many of my decks which were really janky. Glissa elfball for instance just doesn't work well. Long story short I wanted to make a stompy deck with a fast clock. Omnath made the short list. After playing three games with Omnath winning 2/3 and almost winning the 3rd I am amazed at how powerful this deck is. Like I almost feel bad playing it.
I have a counter heavy meta and put in City of Solitude and Hall of Gemstones. Both showed up and were houses in those games. My meta still has to learn how to deal with this deck. They let me have Omnath all the time. Bad idea. After aggressively tutoring up Seedborn Muse a couple times I think they will appreciate the mistake that it.
Also, Nyxthos, Shrine to Nyx was amazing for me. My Gaea's Cradle is in my Rhys deck and can't afford another. This makes a capable substitution. Why don't you run it?
I took a lot of inspiration off this primer. Thanks for all the work you put into it Xaios
I'm gonna give this decklist a try, Omnath looks like a blast to play. There's a few cards I would personally include that are not the OP. What do you guys think of these?
I run Ulamog because of his vindicate effect, but I find that I've got enough draw already that Kozilek isn't really necessary.
I'm not a huge fan of cards like Farhaven Elf in this deck. Seedguide Ash is the card of that type I'd be most inclined to run. However, that's as much a meta based decision as anything, so you'll have to try it for yourself.
Just thought I would share as it brought me a big ass grin.
So playing a game the other night. I was at 18 commander with a lethal dose of Derevi coming flying over me the following turn. I had no cards in hand thanks to another playing popping a black Myojin the turn before mine. Essentially I was dead without any answers. Thanks to the Mirri's Guile I had in play three cards down was a Genesis Wave. Cast it for 35. GG to the table. They tried to hold out but I literally was able to deal with every situation they had to counter it in those 35 cards. One of the most satisfying wins in my years of playing. Go team Omnath!
I got a T4 Gen wave for x=11 playing your deck a little while ago. Total kudos, it was hysterical. Love the green!
Nice!
I can't remember the exact steps anymore because it was probably more than a year ago, but I once G-waved for something like 30+ on turn 4. It was well and truly amazing.
Been playing this for a lil' while now, getting good success all around. I was wondering what you guys might think of equipments in this deck? I especially like Nim deathmantle, it can protect Omnath and allow us to abuse numerous citp abilities. I personally think I will focus more on the token thematic, adding card like symbiotic wurm and the like. If anybody has a token omnath list I would like to see it.
I've officially replaced Sylvan Primordial with Craterhoof Behemoth. Being as that increases my curve a bit, I've taken steps to remedy this by replacing Yavimaya Elder (a card I've become less and less enamored with as of late) with Crop Rotation. This will help me get my Gaea's Cradle with greater frequency.
Is it possible to do a budget version of this deck, but say that my criteria was only cards equal or under $10 unless a card is core/must-have to the deck?
I have been playing Omnath for quite a while and it is certainly brutal and effective.
Some cards that really shine for me not mentioned above: Budoka Gardener - this has been amazing, nice early ramp and then huge tokens Bellowing Tanglewurm - won more than a few with this Seer's Sundial - not flashy, but good solid repeatable draw Abundance - much better chance of getting what you need Polukranos, World Eater - great removal Vorrac Battlehorns - when you just have to get it done with Omnath Tiger Claws - basically reads, 'kill target player' on the card
btw, my best Genesis Wave story was one cast for 18.
I got Eternal Witness to get my wave back, and enough land and mana doublers to cast it for 22 right after that.

Only 22, you haven't lived until you've broken a board stall in multiplayer with a gwave for 47 I love this deck
Sorry bout that. I had an almost complete list going on my home computer when the power went out, forgot to recompile it. I'll get something together over the weekend.
