4/5/13:Finally its done I have it sorted again now it feels organised and is up to date
If anyone has questions on choices or something let me know I am willing to explain my choices, I am also very open to ideas on things to change and if I don't have the cards in queston and I can get my hands on a some copies, I would be totally willing to test them
Also at this point in time I have no real limit on price on cards but its not like I am going to go by a force of will or something much more expensive just for testing, due to the fact as I have played this deck there is never a moment I need force of will and this deck is next to never willing to get rid of card advantage so its not going to draw more than it can chew because I have found even if I can draw +4 cards a turn it kills me if I don't have ways to use it so, I guess if I was to explain the deck it would be similar to the tortoise and the hare minus the fact that my tortoise can move fast when motivated and sometimes me rushing things just gets me killed, so all in all if someone is netdecking (if someone did I would feel, I don't know proud that someone likes this so much) this I would suggest unless they have no way to stop you, take it slow and creep that kill on them (similar to boiling frogs I guess) then being too aggressive can cause you to be high in the kill list in games to come after the first one
It looks like you have too much bounce and not enough counter magic/answers. Putting your list in alphabetical order will make it easier for people to see if you have certain cards and easier to respond. It also appears you don't have enough mana. I have a competitive mono blue deck in my sig that might be useful.
In my opinion you have too many creatures with no ETB ability as well. I enjoy a few creatures such as Gilded Drake that can be utilized multiple times by bouncing him back to hand and thefting again later.
Also, too many high mana cost creatures. Personally utilizing Ulamog, kozilek, and jin might be a bit of overkill. I would try to cut at least one of them.
Master of Etherium designated beaters are usually sort of meh. He has no evasion either so I am not too keen on him.

2. You have ALOT of small artifacts. "Too many parts break the machine". You dont need that many. Id say cut back on em.
3. Blue doesnt have the physical power other colors do. Blues strongest assets are counter and bounce spells. You should find more room for them. counters I find to be useful are:
- Counterspell
- Muddle the Mixture <- also tutors out 2cmc cards
- Hinder <- Tucks Generals/Commanders
- Spell Crumple <- See Hinder
- Faerie Trickery
- Dissipate
- Cryptic Command <- also acts as a bounce spell
4. You seem to be running only 32 land, but almost half either produces colorless mana or enters the battlefield tapped. You *may* want to adjust that.
5. Darksteel Forge, Kozilek, Jin, -AND- Ulamog? that seems a tad cluttered for the high cmc slots.
6. It feels like you want to go all-in artifacts, but also all-in wizards. Seems like your trying to juggle too much in the theme department.

Descendent of Soramaro is bad remove him. Me: I know, until I put Mystic Speculation in I had trouble with being forced to no be able to plan, what i was going to draw, it just helped me get through some problems the deck had early on, and i haven't found its replacement yet

Me: It was originally more bounce and counterspell but it just couldn't keep a frim ground in game, It just kinda sat there and it did very little as in one game all i really was able to do was exile cards from peoples graveyards

Agreed - and it might be beneficial to take a look at ISB's list for some ideas, Raphael.
However, it sounds like you're set on a lot of the artifacts you have here, and while Venser is a pretty good support general for pretty much any blue strategy I feel that you'd just be better off using Arcum Dagsson. I've seen quite a few solid Arcum builds around; maybe take a look at a few and see if any of them appeal to you?
If not, here are some of my thoughts on the list as it currently stands:
1. You're playing way too many artifacts. I understand many of them have synergies with other cards you're playing, but the deck would just be better without quite a few of them. Black Vise, no matter how you slice it, is just bad. Ivory Tower is better, but still bad. Mind's Eye just isn't worth it in blue; play Consecrated Sphinx, Recurring Insight, and more instant draw (Blue Sun's Zenith, Overwhelming Intellect) before you play this. Again, if you want to play artifacts that aren't generally worth playing otherwise, I'd take a look at Arcum.
2. Mana doublers are awesome in mono-colored lists. Gauntlet of Power at the very least warrants a slot. Others will argue this point with me, but I think that Extraplanar Lens is the best of these considering how cheap it is (play Tezzeret the Seeker!). Plus, you're in blue and can protect it if you add some more countermagic, which brings me to my third point...
3. Add staple counters, at the very least. Venser's great, but you're not always going to have 2UU up or be able to put him back in your hand when you need to bounce a spell (which occasionally won't do anything for you anyway). I start out with at least Counterspell, Hinder, Mindbreak Trap, Cryptic Command, Desertion, and Overwhelming Intellect in every mono-blue list I cook up.

My list if you want it. I put it down for now just because I am playing with some other things and I dont keep too many decks sleeved up at the same time due to sleeves and staples. I like the list but there are a few tweeks I would make on it yet.
Extraplanar Lens - It isnt that it is a great / bad card it is that it is situational to every meta. The more you see people destroy and sweep noncreature permenants the worse it is. I generally expect a mana doubler to die fairly quickly in my meta so I hate giving up the land for it. It is a good card but it depends on what sort of results you can expect from it.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Me:Thanks, Most of the small actifacts while synergising, are more of place holders for now, but in my meta if I early game (1-4) a black vise it usaully goes undisterbed and kills someone because either I or another player make a bigger target, but i deffenitly understand where you are coming from. I am willing to take the m out but I need to figure out what to put in their place,(the small stuff you were mentioning).

I just don't see how it helps me all that much now seeing the amount of land I have(non-basic verses basic)
Braids seems like a bad call in a control deck that doesn't regularly steal things. You're going to give your opponents too many free win conditions with her. I'd probably just cut her but she is dependent on your play style.

I sometimes am a little short, but I usaually end up with my expidition map and acadamy ruins and at that point I just search for the lands I need and If I get alot of draw early on I get 10-14 or so land earlier via things like deserted temple + terrain generator,
and Thawing glaciers<---(I guess I missed editing my list)

I am back, I was wondering what your guys thoughts were to make this better this could be, taking out most of the artifact, or it could be as simple as putting in more counter,(I am thinking of going to the grand prix(Salt Lake City) and doing side events, ect... the advice you guys have given me has been great, someone said above I seem to be stuck between Artifacts and Wizards, well I like the whole combo with Mycosynth Lattice and Darksteel Forge and Unwinding Clock and also Nevinyrral's Disk like I locked down my friend with nevinyrral's disk+Unwinding clock+Darksteel forge, but I was also wondering would it be good to put in Knowledge Pool for its synergy with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir? I could add in the cycling wizard to find Teferi? anyways as always your comments are welcome and will take them into consideration.
P.S. I was thinking about winter orb what do you guys think about that card would it be good in this deck?
I was at the grand prix today and i picked up a gilded drake, consecrated sphinx, cryptic command, Akroma's Memorial and i will edit the decklist on sunday hopefully.

I am sorry for not posting/editing this deck, Venser is being remade due to me realizing that I hardly win any multiplayer games anymore, in my meta at least which, I think is a call to change

I am not sure, I am thinking about moving most of the crazy artifact stuff into a Hanna, Ships Navigator deck and just make this deck go for Teferi lock and erayo lock what do you think

Have you considered shifting this deck to less wizard oriented, as venser doesnt do much for wizard tribal, and perhaps shifted it to a more blue - artifact control theme? As mentioned above, you run a few wizards that arent necessarily the best choices, however, there are tons of wizards that benefit artifacts that you have, you could expound upon that and really get something nasty going. (cloudkey, etherium sculptor, helm of awakening, etc)

First and foremost, be prepared to be hated for doing what you are about to do. I have run an erayo deck; you need to be prepared to become the most hated player at the table.
I would remove the following 3 cards, i will give you my reason why as well:
Jace's Archivist - This is a card I used to love when i ran a combo deck, however, unless you are going for a combo and the win, his ability tends to benefit your opponents more than he helps you, as he gives away a significant amount of card draw. If you want to maintain his ability, replace him with Scroll Rack instead.
Mindbreak Trap - Meta wise, this could be great. in my circles, no one plays storm edh, and as a 1 of, not particularely useful unless you have a tutor and a way to draw it readily available. Great card, but not necessary outside of storm in my opinion.
Equilibrium or unwinding clock or Jin-gitaxias - Sort of a tough choice on this one. I dont know how much mileage you get out of unwinding clock, that might be the better choice in this instant. The way i see it, if you go for a full out lock style, i would keep equil and ditch jin. Jin is any hybrid deck, but he costs a ton of mana, and you have no way to guarantee you ever cast him when you need him. Totally your call on this one.

thanks for the comments i totally have a 2nd scroll rack i can trade for him (not being sarcastic), one thing i was using him for was a wizard body for sigil tracer and Azami, Lady of Scrolls
funny/sad thing is it seems like i get equal use of all of those like one game i get out mind over matter and Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur which ended carrying me to a win, because my deck pulls off being innocent a good amount until people get smart, the other thing is, because of where my deck sat in my meta (i am sure it changed quite a bit) but anyway where it was in the meta it was more like 2-4th in the ranking of who to deal with first and most of the time i would do nothing and fall under the radar and pull off something dumb maybe 3 out of 4 times that happened
but i might cut jin just because out of the 3 he can be the most annoying to have in hand early unless i have something like Braids, Conjurer Adept or have an Expedition Map and mana enough to want to keep it which is 3 mana one preferably that taps for blue
but I am sure if I look hard enough I will see something lackluster in the deck
like i could ditch the whole darksteel forge/mycosynth lattice thing which i never seem to see now days the again if the deck get much leaner I will take Braids, Conjurer Adept out if it gets to a point where she doesn't help me enough

If anyone has questions on choices or something let me know I am willing to explain my choices, I am also very open to ideas on things to change and if I don't have the cards in queston and I can get my hands on a some copies, I would be totally willing to test them
Also at this point in time I have no real limit on price on cards but its not like I am going to go by a force of will or something much more expensive just for testing, due to the fact as I have played this deck there is never a moment I need force of will and this deck is next to never willing to get rid of card advantage so its not going to draw more than it can chew because I have found even if I can draw +4 cards a turn it kills me if I don't have ways to use it so, I guess if I was to explain the deck it would be similar to the tortoise and the hare minus the fact that my tortoise can move fast when motivated and sometimes me rushing things just gets me killed, so all in all if someone is netdecking (if someone did I would feel, I don't know proud that someone likes this so much) this I would suggest unless they have no way to stop you, take it slow and creep that kill on them (similar to boiling frogs I guess) then being too aggressive can cause you to be high in the kill list in games to come after the first one

Also, too many high mana cost creatures. Personally utilizing Ulamog, kozilek, and jin might be a bit of overkill. I would try to cut at least one of them.
Descendent of Soramaro is bad remove him.
Master of Etherium designated beaters are usually sort of meh. He has no evasion either so I am not too keen on him.
It seems like you have too many small utility artifacts... I would probably try to cut back on them. Black Vise is terrible at scaling into multiplayer and not that great of a card in the first place.
Dispersing Orb I don't like how much it costs and it is really a pain in the ass to activate it.
Clockspinning why?
Rescue you might replace it with a bounce effect that is a bit broader or one that has a little more multi function.

1. You dont have many artifact creatures, so Steel Overseer really doesnt do much for you.
2. You have ALOT of small artifacts. "Too many parts break the machine". You dont need that many. Id say cut back on em.
3. Blue doesnt have the physical power other colors do. Blues strongest assets are counter and bounce spells. You should find more room for them. counters I find to be useful are:
- Counterspell
- Muddle the Mixture <- also tutors out 2cmc cards
- Hinder <- Tucks Generals/Commanders
- Spell Crumple <- See Hinder
- Faerie Trickery
- Dissipate
- Cryptic Command <- also acts as a bounce spell
4. You seem to be running only 32 land, but almost half either produces colorless mana or enters the battlefield tapped. You *may* want to adjust that.
5. Darksteel Forge, Kozilek, Jin, -AND- Ulamog? that seems a tad cluttered for the high cmc slots.
6. It feels like you want to go all-in artifacts, but also all-in wizards. Seems like your trying to juggle too much in the theme department.

Agreed - and it might be beneficial to take a look at ISB's list for some ideas, Raphael.
However, it sounds like you're set on a lot of the artifacts you have here, and while Venser is a pretty good support general for pretty much any blue strategy I feel that you'd just be better off using Arcum Dagsson. I've seen quite a few solid Arcum builds around; maybe take a look at a few and see if any of them appeal to you?
If not, here are some of my thoughts on the list as it currently stands:
1. You're playing way too many artifacts. I understand many of them have synergies with other cards you're playing, but the deck would just be better without quite a few of them. Black Vise, no matter how you slice it, is just bad. Ivory Tower is better, but still bad. Mind's Eye just isn't worth it in blue; play Consecrated Sphinx, Recurring Insight, and more instant draw (Blue Sun's Zenith, Overwhelming Intellect) before you play this. Again, if you want to play artifacts that aren't generally worth playing otherwise, I'd take a look at Arcum.
2. Mana doublers are awesome in mono-colored lists. Gauntlet of Power at the very least warrants a slot. Others will argue this point with me, but I think that Extraplanar Lens is the best of these considering how cheap it is (play Tezzeret the Seeker!). Plus, you're in blue and can protect it if you add some more countermagic, which brings me to my third point...
3. Add staple counters, at the very least. Venser's great, but you're not always going to have 2UU up or be able to put him back in your hand when you need to bounce a spell (which occasionally won't do anything for you anyway). I start out with at least Counterspell, Hinder, Mindbreak Trap, Cryptic Command, Desertion, and Overwhelming Intellect in every mono-blue list I cook up.

My list if you want it. I put it down for now just because I am playing with some other things and I dont keep too many decks sleeved up at the same time due to sleeves and staples. I like the list but there are a few tweeks I would make on it yet.
Extraplanar Lens - It isnt that it is a great / bad card it is that it is situational to every meta. The more you see people destroy and sweep noncreature permenants the worse it is. I generally expect a mana doubler to die fairly quickly in my meta so I hate giving up the land for it. It is a good card but it depends on what sort of results you can expect from it.

Braids seems like a bad call in a control deck that doesn't regularly steal things. You're going to give your opponents too many free win conditions with her. I'd probably just cut her but she is dependent on your play style.
How much have you played with this deck? How many times do you find yourself short on mana in the first ten turns of the game?
I sometimes am a little short, but I usaually end up with my expidition map and acadamy ruins and at that point I just search for the lands I need and If I get alot of draw early on I get 10-14 or so land earlier via things like deserted temple + terrain generator,
and Thawing glaciers<---(I guess I missed editing my list)

I am back, I was wondering what your guys thoughts were to make this better this could be, taking out most of the artifact, or it could be as simple as putting in more counter,(I am thinking of going to the grand prix(Salt Lake City) and doing side events, ect... the advice you guys have given me has been great, someone said above I seem to be stuck between Artifacts and Wizards, well I like the whole combo with Mycosynth Lattice and Darksteel Forge and Unwinding Clock and also Nevinyrral's Disk like I locked down my friend with nevinyrral's disk+Unwinding clock+Darksteel forge, but I was also wondering would it be good to put in Knowledge Pool for its synergy with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir? I could add in the cycling wizard to find Teferi? anyways as always your comments are welcome and will take them into consideration.
P.S. I was thinking about winter orb what do you guys think about that card would it be good in this deck?

Here are my thoughts so far:
You run numerous artifacts, why not add in Tezzeret, The Seeker: hes a tutor, a mana rock untapper, and a win cond.
brittle effigy is a great removal spell that can be tutored for with trinket mage
I like pact of negation in blue edh decks, as it is a great way to stop their kill spell and buy yourself another turn if you lack the mana.
Have you considered shifting this deck to less wizard oriented, as venser doesnt do much for wizard tribal, and perhaps shifted it to a more blue - artifact control theme? As mentioned above, you run a few wizards that arent necessarily the best choices, however, there are tons of wizards that benefit artifacts that you have, you could expound upon that and really get something nasty going. (cloudkey, etherium sculptor, helm of awakening, etc)
i noticed on page 2 you mentioned erayo lock. if so, mandatory mention of arcane laboratory

Tezzeret the Seeker in my meta he wouldn't survive to do much except untap some mana rocks which may or may not make up for his cost i guess i could use him to tutor for some of my smaller thing or unwinding clock or Vedalken Orrery, I am also thinking of adding the wizard with wizardcycling

First and foremost, be prepared to be hated for doing what you are about to do. I have run an erayo deck; you need to be prepared to become the most hated player at the table.
I would remove the following 3 cards, i will give you my reason why as well:
Jace's Archivist - This is a card I used to love when i ran a combo deck, however, unless you are going for a combo and the win, his ability tends to benefit your opponents more than he helps you, as he gives away a significant amount of card draw. If you want to maintain his ability, replace him with Scroll Rack instead.
Mindbreak Trap - Meta wise, this could be great. in my circles, no one plays storm edh, and as a 1 of, not particularely useful unless you have a tutor and a way to draw it readily available. Great card, but not necessary outside of storm in my opinion.
Equilibrium or unwinding clock or Jin-gitaxias - Sort of a tough choice on this one. I dont know how much mileage you get out of unwinding clock, that might be the better choice in this instant. The way i see it, if you go for a full out lock style, i would keep equil and ditch jin. Jin is any hybrid deck, but he costs a ton of mana, and you have no way to guarantee you ever cast him when you need him. Totally your call on this one.

thanks for the comments i totally have a 2nd scroll rack i can trade for him (not being sarcastic), one thing i was using him for was a wizard body for sigil tracer and Azami, Lady of Scrolls
funny/sad thing is it seems like i get equal use of all of those like one game i get out mind over matter and Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur which ended carrying me to a win, because my deck pulls off being innocent a good amount until people get smart, the other thing is, because of where my deck sat in my meta (i am sure it changed quite a bit) but anyway where it was in the meta it was more like 2-4th in the ranking of who to deal with first and most of the time i would do nothing and fall under the radar and pull off something dumb maybe 3 out of 4 times that happened
but i might cut jin just because out of the 3 he can be the most annoying to have in hand early unless i have something like Braids, Conjurer Adept or have an Expedition Map and mana enough to want to keep it which is 3 mana one preferably that taps for blue
but I am sure if I look hard enough I will see something lackluster in the deck
like i could ditch the whole darksteel forge/mycosynth lattice thing which i never seem to see now days the again if the deck get much leaner I will take Braids, Conjurer Adept out if it gets to a point where she doesn't help me enough
