This is my deck for the new legendary creature Yeva, Nature's Herald. It's a Green Draw-Go style deck, that actually functions!
The idea is to get Yeva out after ramping into a hefty source of mana, and then..PLAY EVERYTHING!
Also, I will be on cockatrice regularly whenever I can. just look for me in the User List, it's the same name as on here. Feel free to buddy me! Cockatrice Currently: ONLINE!
Before we get started, you may want to review the deck list. It's not just a mono-Green deck with Yeva slapped on the front, it is tailored to casting a bunch of creatures and going for the kill next turn. You don't ever cast creatures on your turn unless you absolutely have to. The goal is to cast things during upkeeps, combat phases, and end steps.
And for those wondering, yes, the title of this thread and sanity's thread are jokes at each other Though mine WAS the original DrawGrow
Sanity worked a long time on a green list, and when Yeva came out, slapped her on as the commander. To see the list, go here. Look at both, see which ya like!
Planar Gate, Cloud Key, Emerald Medallion:
Making your creatures cost less is essential to this deck working. Avenger of Zendikar feels so much sweeter when he only costs you 1GG. The most important thing to remember with thiese: Unless it will make you lose to play this before the creature, play this before the creature. These are the most important non-creature spells in the whole deck.
Seedborn Muse:
She is the bread and butter of this deck. If this deck had a lover, it would be Seedborn Muse. She essentially makes it so that you have as many turns as their are players, and can turn Yeva's ability and a hand full of fatties into freaking Christmas. Or whatever, some time where amazing things happen to you. If you can play the muse, play the muse.
Regal Force, Elvish Visionary, Wall of Blossoms, Recycle, soul of the Harvest, Greater Good:
I cannot stress how important card advantage is in this deck enough. Wall and Visionary are great little cantrip creatures, and combo amazingly with a bunch of cards in this deck. Ever wanted to pay G to draw three cards? This deck can do it.
Regal Force...is Regal Force. He draws a bunch of cards, fueling your hand for explosive plays with Seedborn Muse and Yeva. He's fun to Flash in just before a boar wipe, as well.
Recycle and Soul of the Harvest both provide card draw just for playing things. They turn any creature you play into a double cantrip, which is already pretty cool. Then, recycle takes it a step further, making anything you even attempt to cast a cantrip. Very powerful cards, especially Recycle. Don't fear the discard- You have plenty of Recursion here to take care of it.
Greater Good is a card I was just introduced to by our mutual friend Weebo, and I'm glad for it. It turns this deck into a turbo-engine ,drawing cards off of already used up Woodfall Primus', or refilling our hands with creatures after we draw too many lands in a row. I absolutely adore this card, and will say, it is a fantastic play in this deck.
Uktabi Orangutan and the other fairly strange, random utility creatures:
I needed small creatures that actually did things, that I could also use to cantrip and cast with Yeva, and with other spells in the deck. Uktabi Orangutan came up on my search, and I loved it. He has done well so far, always being useful for me. His friends have not been any slouches either. I have not once wished that I hadn't drawn any of my utility creatures, as my board was always set up, or set up enough, by the time I drew them.
Extraplanar Lens, and his ramping friends of justice:
Ramp in this deck is important. You can's have blowout turns without a heavy dose of mana, and so this deck is packed with ramp and mana doublers. Mana Reflection and Heartbeat of Spring did not make the cut simply because I hate using colored mana, and Heartbeat gives it to my opponents. No thank you! Anyway, the ramp and doubling has been enough for me so far, so I have seen no purpose in overdoing it thus far.
What's your thought process on the following?
Nightshade Peddler
Timbermare - Although, if I'm on the right track the idea here is a green version of whatever faerie had the same kinda effect. Hmm.
Viridian Corrupter - Why not the Shaman? I'd imagine just randomly having an infect dude in a non-infect deck is bad. /shrug.
Quiron Sentinel and Multani's Acolyte just strike me as bad.
Regrowth is better (Nature's Spiral). You have a lot of recursion in general.
What do you think of Artisan of Kozilek? I've been thinking about it today. Expensive, but flashing in such a huge dude to kill something and then reanimating something of your own seems pretty cool. Expensive, but cool.
...I just finished editing her in. You caught me being a bad druid!
There ya go!
On Packleader, I'd say over half of your creatures would need to have however much power. Although, you already have Soul of the Harvest and some of the cantrip creatures, so.../shrug.
I feel like Greater Good could help keep the cards flowing and plays nice with your recursion. That might just be my unabashed love of the card though.
I'm not convinced you're ramping [card=explosive vegetation]hard enough for a mono-G deck either. Winding Canyons might not be a bad call for those times when Yeva costs 16-18.
Solemn seems slightly out of place here, as he's not really benefiting from Yeva and you have better ramp options available.
Looks entertaining overall.

Those are words rarely uttered, lol. Any reason you linked to the german Exploding Veggies (or w/e)? lol.
Although if Yeva costs that much, methinks you may have either had ---- draws or massive play mistakes.
Mind if I ask y'all's opinion on part of my creature base? This is the fatty/token kinda section, not the ramp/CA creatures. Anything strike you as wonky?
The foreign link happened earlier today too. No idea why it's doing that, other than it having the same spelling in each language.
Alternatively, it's not worth playing if it's not German.
I'd have to check your list again to give a good opinion on your creatures, but I would guess it's pretty controlling/in for the long game? You've got a couple favorites in there as well as some excellent options for not overextending, provided you're running the ramp to cast them early enough to matter. I'd probably shy away from Artisan, if only because you can't flash it in off Yeva (I'm going to mix up her and Vela at least three times. Calling it right now) and you are in a color with some good recursion options. That said, it's also recursion to the field and you're in the color most likely to be able to afford it.
In summation, I've got no idea. I'll look at the rest of your list sometime to get a better sense of how it's going to play.

Damn, that's right, Artisan ain't a green creature. nyehaerljgsdf. Not my weekend apparently.
not sure about aluren? you get to flash creatures with yeva, no point breaking parity and letting your opponents flash in their cmc 3 or less dudes in for free and messing around with combat.
Also, someone needs to alter the art so that Yeva is wearing a trench coat. Just saying.

On Mythic Rares: "What's next, Wizards will print six golden Black Lotuses and randomly place them in boosters, and if someone gets one, they get to tour the Wizards facility?"
If you are not playing German ramp, you are not playing ramp right. lolz!!!
Standardländern über alles, amirite?
On Regal Force, I think the times you honestly need to worry about decking off of it are the times you don't need to play it. If you've got so many creatures out that it's going to draw you out, you might consider attacking with them for the game. The ability to refill your hand is waaay more than worth the risk.

No idea. I do like evasion, but I might just like overruns more. Reasoning behind that: overrun effects help you on an empty board. Overrun effects can make your relatively unimpressive army pretty scary. Overrun effects are also a form of evasion. There's also something inherently greener about smashing over rather than going around.
That said, sneaking your entire crew in is awesome, as is using a portal card. I don't know that I'd want to toss my opponents a forest just for that reason all that often, but I could see it working.
So I'm going with a strictly ambivalent answer here. Worth playing with, but I wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't live up to the expectation.

Peddler- For fun kills with Flash.
Timbermare- sheer utility for tappin dudes
Corrupter - For artifact destruction, and because I just recently quit standard so my brain is weird. He's just utility for Alure//Artifact hate
Sentinel - With Medallion out, he is essentially a free card. I dunno, he's terrible, and should not be in the deck
the Acolyte was just for card draw. Also terrible lol
What do you think about me putting in a copy of Garruk's Packleader?
