Lol, Liability is so innocuous as a kill card...... Nobody sees it coming. There are plenty of other ways to win though. General damage is always an option with the plethora of equips like umbral mantle, not to mention the swords. Umbral Mantle is amazing with Tariel. Put some creatures out get their etb effects and pump up Tariel into a giant vigilant one shot.
I picked the beefiest mana rocks to help power out big fliers and lots of tutors to gank combo pieces out of the deck. I'm not a big fan of the signets, but I may end up adding ingot at some point. But, as of yet, it hasn't been needed.
The wrath's are there to fill graveyards with chaff for Tariel to abuse. They do this job well. If I had a Damnation it would be in the list as well, but I don't have one. This is not a buget list by far, but 20 bux is a bit out of my range as well as the other black tutors grim/seal. The Reito Lantern is to weed out any effects I don't need in other peoples yard(so I don't randomly hose myself) I might have to find a spot for nezumi graverobber and withered wretch to further facilitate this end.
Also, Eldrazi titans do not prevent me from milling someone out with altar, as I keep the combo going until I get the titan then the shuffle trigger resolves and mill for win. This strategy requires another creature to sac in place of the titan, but that usually is not an issue.
There is a lot of big beef available to power out wins as well. The rocks help power out angels to wreak out holy vengance on the unpure. I do not have trouble at all dropping angels.
I'm always up for some comments and questions, so feel free to let me know your thoughts. I'll be posting updates as I get new cards and do more playtesting. If anyone else runs Tariel I would gladly welcome any results/experience you have garnered from your playtesting.:D I'm also interested in opinions on the prevelance of stax builds and the rampant land destruction in all the other tariel builds.
That's pretty hott.Turn one I dropped my mana rocks with my tower. Turn two I tutor for my staff. Turn 3 I power out Tariel. Turn 4 I am able to drop my sac outlet in Altar of Dementia which I had topdecked a turn earlier and grab Karador's primetime. Turn 5 I slam down the Staff and equip for the win. I am still suprised at the speed of this win. While I don't normally go for the throat with the combo, Edric didnt leave much choice. The most fun thing about this combo is the randomness. One tap of Tariel I get prime, next I get Sheoldered, and if I am milling with altar it increases the fun!
The other games I played werent nearly as fast, and this deck has a lot of staying power. The beef of the angels is nothing to scoff at. I managed to pull out two more wins. One with Iona lock, and another putting a fleet of angels on the board. That game showed the power of valkerie.
