One Idea for the deck was a much more equipment heavy Voltron build. After all, Pirtates love dangling weaponry almost as much as they like rum! Equipment would also work very well with Ramirez's first strike ability.
+ Thada Adel, Acquisitor - Newest member of the crew, already made Navigator due to her uncanny knowledge of the seas. A rogue who steals stuff? She has accepted the Pirates way of life!
+ Bribery - missing this was an oversight, I forgot to grab an entire stack of potential cards when building the deck. Far better, and far more piraty than Telemin Performance
+ Vedalken Shackles - I was holding off putting in 'good' cards, but really, there's no excuse. Shackles are always piraty, and stealing stuff... yeah.
+ Greed
+ Treasure trove - Turns out I do still need card advantage, and I still don't have enough creatures for dire undercurrents
+ Expedition map - Need more navigational tools!
I like Memory Plunder! I'll have to find myself a copy. The name isn't very piraty, but the effect and the quote are awesome.
Kraken - Wrexial, the Risen Deep is supposed to be in here. He's been temporarily mislaid though... (A kraken, and a thief?! sweet!)
The reef is in, the Grave I don't have. I still need to touch up the mana base a bit, and add things like tainted isles and the suchlike.
I also want to find a spot for Grapplng hook now. The doublestrike will work well with several of my creatures, and the hook effect can be useful too.
So last week, I played a game where I sadly ended up in 3rd place. Turns out Greed can be a bit painful, especially when faced later in the game with an opponent having both Seizan, perverter of truth and spiteful visions out at the same time....
But it was still amazingly fun as I got to steal everything that hit the table! Everything.
Current Changes:
+Skull of Orm - on theme (treasure/skull, the dark version) and nice to return my controls.
-Gorvern the Guildless - Pirates don't care if you're in a guild!
Upcomming Changes: Night Dealings Has got to find a spot in this deck now. I mean, really? THEFT counters? That is awesome!
-Krovikan Whispers
-Captivating Glance - cool and political, as you can shuffle a creature around the board... but...
-Star Compass - We only need one compass, and the Mystical Compass is clearly superior!

Yes, I am aware that my new land arrangement makes Vedalken Shackles all but worthless, and that the tainted and Lake of the dead may have problems. No, I don't care.
EDIT after playing it with the ****ty lands. Wow does that give a new meaning of 'suck'! It was absolutely hilarious, but I think a lot of the pirate 'theme' feeling was lots in the sheer mass of stupid lands. I think I can strengthen the theme by actually cutting out a large portion of them, which will let the deck actually be decent again too.

Built myself a deck with Ramirez at the helm and brought to league last night. What a great decision. Other players were entertained with my card choices (gave cred to MTGS for a lot of them) and when the other pod finished we had a few players cheering for the flamboyant captain.
While brewing this deck the little spike who hides in my skull was worried I'd be relegated to a backseat during the game. It turned out completely different. I was able to interact with the board on almost every turn. Maybe it was a lucky draw, or the commandeering of a Praetor's Counsel, but the multitude of steal-their-stuff cards balances the almost totally worthless theme cards like Piracy and Piracy Charm.
Not a deck that I'll be running every week but it will stay in my play box when the (flamboyant) mood strikes.
Glad you enjoyed piloting the deck! it can indeed be very interactive with the board, with all of the theft effects it packs. The only thing I really want to add in somehow is some amount of extra card draw. I feel a bit of a stall there. Need to find some way to get more wind in the sails.

Fact or Fiction kind of works on theme (maybe?) and works as good card draw.
The ambition of pirates is legendary and sometimes a little too much leads to unpleasant endings. Ambition's Cost is so flavourful for this deck.
Windfall could work as well. It's defined as "A piece of unexpected good fortune, typically one that involves receiving a large amount of money."
Love the theme. In the future, I really hope they make a block located on a plane entirely encompassed by water where pirates thrive and pillage, or something .
Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.
Heh heh. I actually dug mine out a few weeks ago, as a mirror to Coastal Piracy, but decided to wait on putting it in to see what treasures AVR held.
Larceny is a good card to add. There are many cards that I am not running, despite being on there (Treasure Hunt, Piracy Charm), because I feel now that there are enough good cards that are on theme, that I don't need to add every single card that says "Pirate" on it, or has some semblance of theme.
Also, I just noticed I need to update the decklist. A few cards have shuffled around. I don't run all those stupid lands for example. That many really actually removes the Piraty feel of the significant locations.
Using an expedition map to get to Dreadship Reef is one of the more Pirate approved plays to make in this deck. You must say it in a Pirate accent as well.
Love the flavor of this EDH. I am a really huge fan of flavor decks that aren't just about winning but creating some cool interactions with flavor to a theme.
Was curious though I didn't see Coastal Piracy or am I missing it. its not to bad of a card especially since it gives you some draws and fits in the theme :).
Indeed. The inclusion of my helmsman means these iconic pirates may now return. I'm not running them yet, but their inclusion could also bump up my priority on running Dire Undercurrents.
Anywho. I've updated my Main Post! Look at that! It's up to date for once!

Life as a Pirate
Aside from the small collection of actual pirates, there are a lot of pirate-y creatures around, information dealers, merchants that sell secrets, and a large variety of ratas. A more creature heavy build could feature cards such as Dire Undercurrents.
