hi, great thread. been following it for a long while. my suggestion would be to leave the $50 decklist the way it is for those of us still under that budget restriction and make a new thread/list for the 100$ dollar list.(which i also would like to see!)
This seems like the best idea. Although it might be a little tough to maintain two lists, that's what spreadsheets are for.
I should be able to whip up something over the weekend. Totally itching to put Solemn and Metamorph into this list.
I'd also be interested in seeing that. I took your list and added some dollars to it to include thigns like Solemn Simulacrum, Metamorph, etc. Would be definitely helpful to see the overlap and what I have missed.
Updated the OP to link to the new thread, which has my thoughts on a less-restricted list. Hopefully that one will have as much success as this one did.
This decklist looks interesting, I'm liking the budget + non douchey approach.
How exactly does this deck win though? Beat down usually ? Or maybe a late game 3-4 card infinite combo or something?
My meta is not exactly ripe with Shatterstorms, so sometimes I just build up a lot of board presence and beatdown. But, there are also a few game-winners in there.
- If you can resolve Soulscour with even a few threats on the table, it's usually a winner.
- Thopter/Sword is a pretty effective combo (although I've been thinking of cutting the Sword part because it really doesn't do anything but combo off, and Thopter Foundry has many other uses).
- Master Transmuter was pretty effective as well, before I cut it.
- Sharding Sphinx can grow you a pretty large army if left unchecked.
- I've also recently become a big fan of casting and recasting Enigma Sphinx over and over again.
So I tested it out tonight... Hella fun! You're right Enigma Sphinx is ridiculously cool to keep casting; I was able to get an engine going with it and Trading post - ended up casting it 5 times in a row.
Didn't even end up casting Sharuum to be honest!
I quite like Sphinx's, so I might add a few more in - I've got a Sphinx of the Steel Wind lying around I'll try to use I think.

Great deck!
Thanks! I like Trading Post more and more every time I cast it. The other day, I dug it up with Diabolic Tutor on turn four with nothing but garbage in hand, and I ended up generating a huge board presence and winning the game.
I've talked about Sphinx of the Steel Wind several times in the past, and I'm still not terribly high on it, but if you're looking for an aggressive beater, that's the card you want (Wurmcoil Engine would be a close second).
