MTG Salvation

Hi people. This is my Kaervek the Merciless deck. There is a few themes going on, but it packs everyone's least favorite cards. There is no reason I should bring this deck out on a good night, and unless things go too bitter I bring this deck out. It usually doesn't win, but it sets people's clocks a few every game, and that's all it needs.

At least, that's what I want it to be. At this phase, the average CMC is way too high, and things don't really fit all that well. What the most important thing is this deck doesn't like you, your deck, your combo, your hand, graveyard, enchantments and planeswalkers are safe though, for now.

The lack of creatures is a thing for this deck, since there are a million kill spells.




So, I kinda want to make this deck cost less, and at least make sure people never get to do anything ever again. Also, I'd change the legendary creature in an instant if the Return To Ravinca legendary creature even remotely cost less.

Anyone with good 1-3 CMC spells that is good in this deck?

your problem is you have no ramp, you need sol ring, mana vault, jeweled amulet, any of the legal moxes, coalition relic, worn powerstone, thran dynamo, gilded lotus.

You have quite a few low impact cards, I get the punisher theme but Kedric parasite does scratch damage and makes people hit you, the same with mindcrank. You said you're having trouble keeping up with ramp decks so I'd suggest running some more artifact ramp of you own, in addition you can punish ramp decks with things like Zozo the punisher. As you aren't sold on Kaverik my I suggest switching to a W/R/B general, Tariel, Reckoner of Souls is your best option. Can bank on all of the removal you run and gives you white. White has better and cheaper wraths than black, more planes walker options and the ability to search for your damaging enchantments. Finally white can prevent the damage your enchantments are dealing to you. Just a thought.

Xbionx, do I look like I have the money for a crypt/vault package? It's nice, but paper magic coSt do much.

there are plenty of options and vault is only 3 dollars honestly

You want repercussion in this deck. Then you can kinda build around that with a couple of damaged based wraths. aether flash is a good one as well for a deck like this. I like to try and build cards that work well with the general. You want people to be punished for everything they do. lethal vapors is another great option. If you make them suffer for everything they do then eventually they should die nicely. Forgive any errors in this post as I am using my phone.

May I ask why there's no Sanguine Bond? Seems brutal with the rest of the lock.

Vault is 3? Hmmmm.

Okay, this is an update report for anyone that read this.

This deck somehow works, the problem is, the main use of this deck isn't to win, is to inspire a wave of aggression on the table. What I do with this deck is to just take out key components of various decks, like a general that is too good or splashy good bombs.

Also, RtR gave us cool 1v1 Rakdos cards, does anyone think it scales well when you use it in a punisher deck like this? Dreadbore is kinda meh, because Soc speed. I don't have enough Motars to make use in this deck (I have 3 for standard, so sad), and the only thing I added was a VandalBlast. The charm looks nice, it fits the whole you shouldn't be greedy theme.

I'm using rakdos's return. It doubles as a burn finisher and/or control over one play. Add reiterate, fork, or chandra, the firebrand for extra use (these also go well with wheel of fortune and exsanguinate). I'd say it's pretty powerful even without those though.

Rakdos's Return (wow that's bad grammar) is a very, very scary card, I'll consider it.

Also, got a dream game of grieving. Got a Polluted Bonds, Underworld Dream, and then I was holding a Jokulhaups in hand. I asked the table, what would happen if I play it, they said scooping, and then I knew I won the game there. Sure, I cycled the card and then came in 3rd, but we ALL know who's the real winner.

Isn't Vicious Shadows thematic here?
