I settled on making a Horde of Notions as my first 5 color EDH deck a few months ago. I decided to go the elemental rout, but it was not as strong as I liked. I found a well known video on youtube with and I liked the deck a lot. It looked like fun and was strong and I took a lot from it, but added a lot of my own.The premise is to take some of the best and most efficient small converted cost creatures and bunch of equipment to make any creature a threat. Creatures were chosen either for their utility, and/or how well their abilities stack with equipment.
With lots of haste and small casting cost creatures, it can come back from a board wipe quickly since you can drop a creature and have plenty of mana to equip it with the equipment left behind. Combined with the likes of Rafiq of the Many and Finest Hour a lowly Cerodon Yearling with a sword turns into a huge defensive and offensive threat generating card advantage.
[/CARD]
Tutors and other spells can bring out the right creature, spell or equipment for pretty much whatever situation I need. With many tutors the deck can be extremely consistent while versatile enough to handle anything that gets in the way of the decks plan, to smash face. The mana base is fast and consistent.
I usually tutor up Dark Confidant to start with and go from there, throwing down as many threats as possible with whatever equipment I need. In multilayer games the best strategy is to get general damage in on one opponent and regular damage in on another. Basically attack the two strongest opponents who you will not want face in a stretched out game, as this deck tries to win fast with aggro. The deck can be explosive and quick, or it can maybe not get there against lots of board wipes, heavy control and combos. It is a "fair" and fun deck if you like using a variety of creatures you normally wouldn't expect to win with in EDH.
