This was a HARD deck to build. Kentaro, the Smiling Cat's ability is VERY hard to make useful when you can't use non-white Samurai I tried to put in as much generic-mana-generating stuff as possible, so you can use that to cast your Samurai. I included all Samurai that cost 5 or more mana, but it's just not much...
I also put in some cards that make creatures/spells harder to cast, like Feroz's Ban. That should hurt your opponent more than you, because of all the acceleration.
True, Goblin Cannon is strictly a superior card.
But it isn't called "Rocket Launcher", goddamit :-D
I'd put it in if there was any chance in hell that Samurai would have heard of rocket launchers
Oh, and a Karoo plays nicely into Land Tax too - and it's just a straight up not-bad card
(Though it can prevent a turn-2 Smiling Cat if you want it out early)
Kentaro doesn't need to be there on turn two, so good idea.
Also, it might be handy to be able to turn all those extra plains you have in hand into something ... well, less plain (shoot me)
Via a Jalum Tome or even Emmessi Tome.
Just a thought - in case you like having non-land cards in hand. I know I do.
And finally, is it just me who has the hots for Serra's Blessing?
I always liked it ... vigilance is just too cool not to have.

Good idea's, but what to replace...I could drop the Final Judgment, since that's hard on me too...but mass removal is so tech I'll drop the Ivory Guardian. It's good, but not THAT good and an Alpha strike isn't the way to go in this deck.
Oh yes, I forgot about Masako - good trick there, I must say.
But it does die a whole lot easier, and noone's going to waste a Disenchant on a humble Serra's Blessing when stuff like Wound Reflection might be hitting later.
Also, you might be right about the whole Rocket Launcher thing ... it's not easy to picture :-D
Yeah, she dies faster. But I think the trick is worth that. Blessing is just a bit too random. My Samurai aren't the biggest dudes so I will only attack if there's an opening. So most of the time they will be untapped anyway. Thanks for the tips!
Why no Armageddon or Ravages of War? Then you can just hang out with Kentaro and your artifact mana and power out your samurai.
Didn't even think of that...that might even work But I really dislike mass land destruction in EDH, so they're not an option But thanks anyway, I do think it'll be the road to make it more competitive.
Nice idea's. Isamaru is both good and flavorful, as is Jitte. The Fang is also too flavorfull to pass And I reaaaaally like Hokori. He's the Armageddon I don't want to play Cool!

Yes, Hokori is a nice soft-lock on his own. I've been tinkering with a W/U/B Sen Triplets lockup, and he's beginning to feature prominently.
Wow, quite the thread necromancy. But I have to say, I'm impressed with the list. I stumbled across Kentaro a when I was first looking at EDH, and I remember wondering what you could really do with him as a general. I think you came up with a great plan!
