(Sorry if things are mislabeled and such. It's a pain getting lists on here from MtGO.)
Basically, the plan is to keep everybody away from your things and look unassuming while your opponents beat each other senseless and you can muster up a lock and/or obliterate everybody with zillions of angel tokens and/or Test of Endurance your way to victory.
It probably needs Eiganjo Castle, and I would run Silent Arbiter and Magus of the Moat and friends, but they seem like they would make the game far less fun and annoy everybody else.
It could also use better sweepers, but this is what budget and availability dictate at the moment. Also, I have no idea what kind of nonbasic lands could go in here. My nonbasic land-based knowledge isn't all that crash hot.
That Which Was Taken + Indestructibility = Indestructible everything, eventually. (Toss a Magus in for good measure and you've got yourself repeatable boardsweeping explosions, too!)
how does this deck fare against combo type artifact based decks that don't run many creatures or do much damage? Does it have the ability to recover from *** effects?

Hmm. 7/100 isn't so bad?

Honestly, not very well. Of course there's some artifact removal, and self-shroud/protection to defend against targeted wincons, but there's not a great deal it can go once Dagsson.dec starts recurring Mindslavers and Nevinyrral's Disks, although I think that's the effect Dagsson.dec is going for.
Check the deck building database stickied at the top of the forum. I have a well-tuned multiplayer 8.5 Tails deck in there, should help with some ideas. The deck is about to get a lot better with Zendikar.

Combos/synergies!:
Solitary Confinement + Mind's Eye = Invulrableness.
That Which Was Taken + Myojin of Clensing Fire = Repeatable boardsweeping explosions.
That Which Was Taken + Indestructibility = Indestructible everything, eventually. (Toss a Magus in for good measure and you've got yourself repeatable boardsweeping explosions, too!)
Painter's Servant + Eight-and-a-Half-Tails = Bargain basement protection.
Sigil of the Empty Throne + Flickering Ward = Bargain basement flying beatsticks.
Flickering Ward + Mesa Enchantress = Cheap, repeatable card draw.
Flickering Ward + Eight-and-a-Half-Tails/Painter's Servant = Can make auras and equipment fall off. Nothing spectacular, but it comes in handy sometimes.
Circle of Protection: White + Eight-and-a-Half-Tails/Painter's Servant = Cheap damage prevention.
Weathered Bodyguards + One of the numerous damage prevention effects = "No damage for you. Kthnx."
Suggestions/comments/critique is welcome muchly.
Oh, and card suggestions will have to be MtGO-legal, because that's how I roll.
Cheers in advance.
EDIT: Ack. Deck tags hate me. 1,000 apologies.

Wrath of God and other critter-based sweepers don't do a great deal. You just replay your general and you're back to were you started. Tranquilise effects can do some damage, but they don't show up too much (Akroma's Justice, Oblivion Stone and Nevinyrral's Disk is all I can think of off the top of my head) and even then, a Karmic Justice does a pretty alright job of warding them off, and there's always Twilight Shepherd, Second Sunrise, Mine Excavation and Open the Vaults to pull them all back again.
