Sup all, thank you for taking the time to visit the page, will start off by saying that this deck list follows the Regular Banlist (not French) and is meant for competitive 1 vs 1 tournament play. Would not recommend playing kitchen table magic with your buddies. (They will hate you)
Built this deck from scratch after watching Louis Scott Vargas playing Ad Nauseam Tendrils in legacy. The idea is the same, get mana, provide 20 storm and cast tendrils for the win.
Description
This deck is a one trick pony (Glass Cannon), to win we absolutely need to cast Ad-nauseam so we can draw sufficient cards to enable enough mana and storm to win (our Average cmc is 1.21). To ensure we get to combo off we have a significant number of tutors and disruption spells available. Our key storm contributions (after Ad Nauseam) are Yagmoths Will, and Hurkyl's Recall, we can still win without them but it just makes things easier
Still Tweaking the list so any input appreciated.
Note: The fastest i have won so far is turn 2
(But turn one is possible Ie: dark ritual, mana crypt, Ad Nauseam ftw, among other ways)
Why play this version of Oloro?
Because you like combo
Because you like storm
Because you like doing math and calculations
Because who needs creatures
Because you like spending 5 minutes doing an intricate and sophisticated storm compilation
Pretty easy matchup, watch out for counter and artifact/land destruction, other then that your combo is quicker and more resilient
Arcanis the Omnipotent 3-1
Wow this was an interesting deck, lost a match due to my play mistake *note to self don't let dream halls resolve* only disruption to us is counter which we can fight through pretty easily nothing else really to note
Ob Nixilis, the Fallen 3-2
MAN!! this is a deck that i like, and its got nothing to do with the general. this deck was packing every disruption card known to man, every discard spell and land demo that sometimes just ruined me. Playing vs this deck made me realize that discard is its one weakness due to the fact that we have so few actually draw spells
Geist of Saint Traft 4-1
Good deck vs most but we just steamroll it. they have access to cheap counter but again we have too many answers for it and win too fast
Sliver Queen 1-0
The match-up of all match-ups, Hermit Druid combo. Would have liked to played vs this deck more but opponent had to leave. Won on turn two and never looked back
Derevi, Empyrial Tactician 5-2
Depending on the type of deck this can be really hard, their draws can be almost as explosive as ours and the cards they have can be annoying. Notable creatures/spells that they have that annoy and affect us are Aven Mindcensor, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Gaddock Teeg, Meddling Mage, Hokori, Dust Drinker and Nevermore. However, we do have cheap ways to remove/bounce these. The longer the game goes the worse off we are. Speed is the name of the game here and try not to rely too much on artifacts, other then that the only disruption they have is counter. (we laugh at tangle wire or general coming into play to tap mana source)
Cromat 1-0
Interesting deck, 5 color Cromat control, the best of all worlds. Had 3 tutors countered until i finally managed to drop a Boseiju into grim tutor into ad naueam to win the game
Arcum Dagsson 4-1
only answer iv seen this deck have is counter and memory jar which is kinda funny. Cast Ad-nauseam draw cards, cast *blank*, opponent taps Arcum goes and get memory jar and sac it.... goodbye hand. end turn, discard all and keep Yagmoths will and win next turn
Talrand, Sky Summoner 2-0
Not much to say, they got counter, fight through it
Jhoira of the Ghitu 4-1
Again, land demo and counter....meh, we go zoom zoom zoom we too fast
Azami, Lady of Scrolls 2-0
They ramp, we ramp and tutor. They hold cards and say go, we drop boseiju and say go
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur 2-0
Too slow, they got some blue stuff but who cares
Cao Cao, Lord of Wei 1-0
See Ob Nixilis, the Fallen up top for description, same deck different general but worse pilot in this case
Oloro, Ageless Ascetic 1-0 (not my version)
Never got to see much, won on turn two
Sydri, Galvanic Genius 1-0
Interesting deck, something to watch out for is her using her U ability on your artifact lands and 0 cmc artifacts. Decks good but were too fast
Non Competitive:
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker 1-0
Riku of Two Reflections 1-0
Ghave, Guru of Spores 1-0
Rafiq of the Many 1-0
Glissa, the Traitor 1-0
Uril, the Miststalker 3-0
Nekusar, the Mindrazer 1-0
Sakashima the Impostor 1-0
Teneb, the Harvester 1-0
Rhys the Redeemed 2-0
Sigarda, Host of Herons 1-0
Maelstrom Wanderer 1-0

Bump. Still looking for some input, what could be added/removed.
Testings been going great, deck can fight through counter pretty effectively
only problem is when Ad Nauseam gets tageted with discard. Something to be watched out for.
If you are using Hurkyl's Recall to boost your storm count, you may also want to consider Retract. Although it is only for you it costs 1 mana less. Like you said, it is not required, but if it helps you finish a turn earlier once in a while, then why not?

Wow thanks a bunch, i didnt even think of that card. If anything i consider it to be better then hyrkulls recall since it cost 1 mana less. Question is do i want both? or just replace it with it.
Thinking of maybe trying out both for now and test. will cut Cruel Tutor. This might come as a surprise but being sorcery speed, costing 3 mana (3life with Ad) and only putting on top of library is really slow and hurtfull even for a tutor
looking for a replacement for Basalt Monolith Card really does nothing for me. doesnt even ramp well into Ad Nauseam. really slow and clunky and life loss is a pain. Tested new card Retract. It is awesome!
Why don't you go Oloro or Zur to have access to orim effects and Angel's Grace to combout with adnauseam?
With zur you can fetch also Phyrexian Unlife & Soul Echo to make the combo work and draw entire deck, then you can finish the opponent with Sickening Dreams or LabMan
You can use angel's grace as secondary enabler if you go too low on life, and building the deck to work also with Ad Nauseam only.
Oloro is high reccomanded thanks to +2 life every turn..
i've run this configuration into my Oloro Doomsday deck as secondary wincon, but i found i've always trying to assemble the doomsday wincon (the deck wasn't focused on ad nauseam)... but you can build another one based on ad nauseam esclusively.
the pros. of ad nauseam vs doomsday are obvious, assembling a 2 card combo (nauseam+grace) you can win stright un without caring about lifepoints or opponent removals/hate 'cose you draw entire deck
Hey not a bad idea. the only problem i have with this is that white would only really offer me silence and orim's chant to ensure i can cast Ad Nauseam which may be worth Testing.
You mention Angel's Grace and Phyrexian Unlife, the problem i have with these is that they are terrible by themselves. As for being able to draw my whole library with Ad Nauseam i dont actually need to do that. With the current list i have absolutely no problem getting 20 storm.
This list is optimized with alot of dig and tutors to ensure we can cast Ad Nauseam by turn 3. If we cant safely cast it then we look for disruption.
Maybe Oloro is worth testing for extra life +cards but what would we cut?
cool, didnt know something similar was made. As for list.....
Its terrible!!! Maralen of the Mornsong is a horrible card!! lol, why would you ever allow your opponent the opportunity to search before you do? Having access to blue tutors and draw is so much better.
As for Skirge Familiar the problem i have with this card is the same as with Angel's Grace and Phyrexian Unlife. We dont NEED to draw our hole deck, we dont need all the mana in the world, we make enough with what we draw to storm out, and cast tendrils for 40 something.
For the record, I don't think he generally plays Maralen. The deck runs enough tutors that it's rare to play her. She's more of a last ditch effort to get the ad naus than anything else, if I understand correctly.

True but how is that any better? i run all the same tutors along with alot of blue tutors and dig/cantrip spells.
Very good adnauseam on turn 3! how many times is protected? i play doomsday that's a 1/1.5 turn slower..but is duelcommander banlist, on the other hand is very consistent.
If you are this fast (turn3/4) to play ad nauseam and the deck it's designed to maximixe draw (low cmc) angel's grace isn't needed. i dind't think about sigg+culling the weak sinergy, but you play some creatures...you miss it that much?
How is oloro's gainlife doing?
Honestly I haven't found the life gain to be too relevant, reason being the life we have is always enough to go off. Where I can see it taking a better role is againts a heavy aggro deck but lets face it.... In a competitive environment we arnt going to see any. so the current question is weather we prefer orims chant and silence for protection vs possible speed with sygg. So far I'm leaning towards the protection. Will do more testing but so far happy with the results
Wasn't trying to say it was better, I've never played either list so I can't really talk about effectiveness. Just sharing my (somewhat limited) knowledge about the deck

Sorry I didn't mean to sound confrontational, I appreciate any input. I'm actually looking to find a slot for defence grid in the list you recommended. Not sure what to cut for it tho.
Maybe Paradise Mantle? You run so few creatures, and Sygg is a huge target for anyone with removal and a brain so he's not terribly likely to stick from my experience. It seems that the mantle is too slow of a use for a card that even if you get it with Ad naus and a memnite to play you can't tap the 'nite until next turn. It just seems too situational.
Shouldn't an esper deck just be Zur if you're not using the French list? You have access to necropotence then, right? It's like you just win. This is assuming you are still testing esper.

GOOD CALL. Since I'm playing with Oloro for now that's an ez change I can make. Will update list tonight when I get home.

Zur actually isnt that scary in 1v1 regular banlist. Sure he can lock us if he swings but we can actually race him with this list. The only problem I can forsee is if he hits our key spells with discard allowing him enough time to get his engine going. His end game definitly trumps ours so the key is speed.
Remember that this list can win on turn 1 (mostly on turn 3-4)
Post ad-nauseam i would include a Tolarian Winds to get value from unuseful card in hand.. 'cose you don't play skridge or similar engine to recycle dead draws
Thanks for the web site, will definitely browse through for some goodies. In regards to Tolarian Winds the card is unnecessary (win more). In regards to my current list what im trying to do is either:
-Increase speed of combo (tutors, ramp, efficient spells, dig)
-Increase resilience of combo (discard, Orim's chant, silence, counter)
After casting Ad Nauseam 99.99% (dont actually have a figure) of the time we win with the cards available. Making Post Ad Nauseam better is not needed and is only considered a Win more.
I'd offer to play you (I've got Hermit druid combo built) but I"m awful at that particular deck and would lose horribly >.<
Ya, Hermit druid combo would be the real test for this deck. have yet to play againts it. pretty much the reason why i run Tormods crypt (thats and its a free storm)
VT, seal, and ring are banned? Sorry but you can't do both styles of play. Either you'll deck yourself and cut somebody out of the multiplayer game, or just get a judge called on turn 1. I like the deck tho, illgotten gains is a good one to run. Check some of the older versions of ad tendrils and you'll find a lot of weird card draw even though they were mainly black.
Oh and since your adding white why not enlightened tutor and land tax for belcher?
