Why not brutal hordechief over hellrider? He is black for vampire nocturnus, he gains life and can and the five mana ability is pretty much free atack (just block one token with all the blockers)
well hellrider causes insane and immediate damage together with tokens, also has haste and doesn't need an activation cost..
I feel there are maybe not enough removal spells for a mardu deck, but that should probably be checked. I would play enlightened tutor and chain to the rocks. I would also add at least shared animosity as a game-ender spell.

R gives a lot of reach - chain lightning, bolt, pulse of the forge, char, red zun's zenith, pillar of flame.....not to mention the grand daddy anthem in shared animosity. I don't think you can cut R out of the deck's corre.
Hm im unsure about the commander in mardu colors since none of those realy fit.
asimov: hm yeah, but I guess Im gonna try it anyway
What do you mean? Going wide and mass pumping can be done with almost every colour except maybe blue.
it almost doesn't matter if the colors fit or not.. free non-interactable token production can easily be taken advantage of in 20 life, be it skullclamp CA on demand, always having a body to carry a sword/jitte, free sac fodder, and yes, going wide really fast and just blitzing with mass pumps/anthems..
how do you think this guy will fare vs titania? i think 5/3's will be a problem without 2 anthem effects in play.

shared animosity is lethal especially if an opponent's strategy is to wait for you to overextend. then if they don't wait and sweep asap, you recover and continue presure.
not sure if face burn like pulse of the forge is worth playing since we're blitzing via swarm and not burn.. the only big burn spells i'd consider playing are fiery confluence, violent eruption and stoke the flames.
stromkirk noble, falkenrath gorger and stromkirk captain are also great red vampies, so combined with the obligatory burn (i also like dreadbore, fire covenant and lightning helix), red is a good supplement to the theme.. it'll be crazy if ixalan comes up not just with white vamps, but boros as well. my fingers are crossed abt that one.
Edgar is good with tokens but if you exploit the tokens for an Aristocrats/Zombardment strategy.
The best go wide token commanders IMO would be Tymna + Sidar Kondo. Check out Modern Selesnya/Abzan Tokens builds for inspiration.

Personal preference I guess. I've been running Pulse in Alesha as clever planeswalker removal at instant speed that also goes to the dome. For me, this works as I'm pretty aggressive with my life. But then it also works for me because I put more weight to burn-based removal.

There's only four rare vampires from what I could make off the leaked sheet. If the mono-white legendary does in fact cost 3, it'll be a massive boon to this strategy.
Vampires have gotten much less gold than you would expect, they were meant to become the characteristic black race since Zendikar but the Modern Vampire Tribal deck is still 100% creatures from ZEN Standard, meanwhile Merfolk, Zombies, Goblins and Elves have all gotten new eternal-playable staples to play with. I do hope we at least get a 1/1 lifelink for W. And another lord sometime soon, I mean zombies have 5 and fish have like 7...

agreed on the lords, but design-wise i'm not sure what else they can add. lifelink might be too OP. and yep, that white token making vamp from ixalan is 3 to cast, 2 of which are colorless so that's awesome. i also wouldn't mind a vampire-exclusive anthem enchantment for 2. i really think turn 1 vamp (+ token) and turn 2 shared triumph is the best possible start the deck can have. and that's on rare. i'd love to see what vamp they have for mythic. hopefully it's not a crap 7 drop

zurgo in your veins lol. but for this build i'd definitely play boros charm over pulse. it cracks the dome, can hit walkers too, costs 1 less, and is almost a wincon if you leave 2 mana up and telegraph a sweep.

Maybe we should make a top 35 vampires list, though Ixalan is just 45 days away and it may have some upsetters.
absolutely. i would actually bring it down to 30-32 vamps. non-vamps I would add would definitely be dark confidant, stoneforge mystic and queen marchesa.
I play 45 creatures in my build and I only lost 1 game in 4 days on cockatrice no stop.
There is no reason to play a lot of removals.
This is a hard concept for me to grasp. I like a lot of removal...why not play removal?
well, upside of less removals is more vamps. and more vamps = more 1/1 tokens. vampballing so to speak. so yeah i do see the logic.. but i dunno man i'm attached to mardu's utility value.
I think that playing 'just enough' removal and card draw is enough with him. How many times can an opponent board wipe while advancing his plan and taking into account the 5/5 hasty on the command tower to make us worry all that much? Throw enough 1/1s into the board and eventually all breaks.
I dunno, I want to kill Karlov, Selvala and Alesha on sight. Then again they're not the most popular right now in my local meta, Zurgo, Thalia and Abzan Partners are more prevalent and I do want some removal there too or out 1/1s just aren't connecting.
Just to reiterate after seeing some games with the general: yes, clearly, it is too strong. I think it should be banned as soon as the new annoucement comes out, if not sooner with an emergency ban (taking with it arahbo as well). Everyone that plays this format can clearly see the general is broken, I simply don't think there is anything for the committe to judge here. There is nothing to adapt to. Just ban the card and let's move on with our lives.

Personally my testing records, are meaningless since I just played 5 games against all my playgroup's decks but I kinda agree with you
Vs Zurgo 4-1
Vs Baral 4-1
Vs Karlov 3-2
Vs Kytheon 5-0
Vs Thalia 4-1
Vs Selvala 5-0
Vs Titania 2-3
Vs Tymna-Thrasios 5-0
Vs Tymna-Sidar Kondo 3-2
Vs Tymna-Kraum 5-0
Vs Ezuri 5-0
Vs Doran 2-3
Vs Alesha 4-1
Vs Hapatra 5-0
Vs Teferi 5-0
Vs Queen Marchesa 1-4
Vs Animar 1-4
Vs Ruhan 3-2
Only decks with much better creature quality or full of wraths can stand up to Edgar before possible meta adaptations.
For MTGO I only goldfished a 3-2 vs Breya and a 2-3 vs Baral before giving up because C17 doesn't come out online until november and a lot may have changed by then.

it bugs me that bad moon does nothing to falkenrath gorger and stromkirk noble (and maybe insolent neonate if he makes the cut). it will also get marginally worse once ixalan comes up with monoW vamps. strictly better than crusade for sure not sure if it's better than intangible virtue.. but then again i'd rather the pump hit nontokens than give tokens vigilance.

i'd play adaptive automaton over that 3/1 trample for 3, and sorin, solemn visitor and elspeth KE over chandra and lili..
also dismember over victim of night and fire covenant over stoke the flames..
otherwise i really see how many possible compositions this deck can have and they'll all be pretty good
