So you know me. I'm the resident aggro player of my meta, hell around these forums too. I play Mardu and Mardu associated pairs. But...my LGS seems hip to my Alesha, and I need help from the community here in brewing to beat that (specifically, I want to punch Narset, Enlightened Master right in the d*ck). I'm not opposed to acquisition of new cards, and I have all the associated staples in Mardu, manabase included (except a Fetid Heath, because I can't justify $24 for what is a [marginally] better Caves of Koilos). On any given night, one can expect, in my meta;
I'd like to stay within a subsect of Mardu (I have access to anything I could need here) as I don't really want to [re]acquire expensive staples a la Sylvan, Jace2, Survival, Misty, Cradle - you know, those high $$ cards that win games. I specifically am looking for something to just mop the floor with Narset as my main priority.
The problem here is that the lists of decks in the meta.. well alomost every top deck is accounted for. I do think that a well put togethrr tasigur control deck could do well. Also a 5-color control list with child would work.... no blood moons/contamination/ruination.

Lol, maaaannnn.
But this is true. Our meta isn't slanted at all, and that makes it hard to brew specifically to something. I just want a positive Narset matchup. Tired of getting rolled by that deck, good as it may be and aggro as I may play.
I had a lot of success against narset with Griselbrand.
Tons of sacrifice based creature removal to get rid of her and ton of early disruption too.
But this Narset, what kind of deck is? tons of minisweeper and extra turn crap?
maybe adding more sacrifice effect and disruption to your alesha could be good.

It's more general American Control. Lots of permission, walkers, sweepers. I have to apply pressure early, which makes me more soft to his sweeps. If I don't then I'm more soft to his permission and it feels like a lose-lose.
I've been thinking a bit, and maybe I want a Tymaret aggro instead? Self-recurring threats on a two drop commander who largely circumvents commander tax, can support a 2c Moon strat, and has the tutours to find these silver bullets as well as the burn to force you to play cautiously. I may be over-selling it. And I may just be better with G-brand/Sidisi. But...
Wouldnt alesha just be better then Tymaret? I think moon effects are fine.. i like cavern naming warrior for fleshbag and/or Executioner... you could run stronghold to set up soft locks. Things like revoker and needle to hit his walkers. Also running a few walkers or ur own to have threats that dodge the wraths... idk i feel like its always going to be a uphill battle in the mardu colors.
I dont feel that mardu or rakdos is really good in dc... too bad because i like these colors
I suggest playing surrak control or tasigur ofc cause he is just better than everything else...
Not really keen on investing into XUG cards too. I've spent a small fortune (lol) getting what I have for the colours I enjoy. Besides, when I play U, nobody wins...
What about going Radha? You can put pressure early and with LD plan, you slow the 3c decks enought to kill them
Why Radha if I can Yisan? That's the glaring hole I see. I do like me some Radha though, and it was one of my fave decks on MODO. Still leaves me in a similar situation as the Tasigur suggestion above though - I don't want to drop a car note on a Gaea's Cradle, among other things.

I do like the idea of tuning Alesha to be more toolboxy for our meta though, bringing back Magus is legit, should I be able to make 3c Moon work (which sounds dodgy to me, but it might work). At the very least I'm open to it (and those edicts don't seem as bad without the Sigarda presence looming over head ha ha ha).
So I took 5-color control to fnm... we had ariubd 12 or 14 ppl... i ended up being the only undefeated. The deck is really good and imo no bad MU...i really think its the right deck for the meta we are in.. with that being said Jenara can be tougher then I would like.

Narset, Enlightened Master
Meren of Clan Nel Toth (which seems the new home for the Sidisi combo decks)
Sidisi, Undead Vizier
Yisan, the Wanderer Bard
Gaddock Teeg/Sigarda, Host of Herons
Tasigur, the Golden Fang
Jenara, Asura of War
Marath, Will of the Wild
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV
Nin, the Pain Artist
Teferi, Temporal Archmage
Daretti, Scrap Savant
Some other [IMHO] non-tiers such as Omnath, Locus of Rage, Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief, and some infrequent albeit casual build Kaalia of the Vast decks.
