Oh man, I had such a sweet opening hand today. T1 Dark Ritual into Drana (first time doing that...It felt amazing) followed by a T2 Oona's Blackguard then a T3 Captains Claws . It was brutal. If only every game was like that lol.
So the EMN spoiler up. Do you guys see anything you like for Drana. I don't see anything mind blowing but there are a couple considerations.
Vampire Cutthroat - Personally I prefer using a 1/1 evasion over the 1/1's that deal 1 damage when they attack. That's just my own personal preference for playing against green decks that will often just block/kill the 1/1 without trading.
Collective brutality is overall a very flexible card, though not sure if it's a good fit for the deck.
To be honest if we have enough cheap skulk creatures in the deck, I'd trade in one of the equipments for hatred since you can activate the ability before damage resolves. Or just pump drana for commander dammage. Man why am I seeing this list just now.
@3drinks the lineup is pretty cheap to cast, don't you think you can ditch mox diamond for a lotus petal and get away with 37 lands? Even at 38 mox D isn't so reliable anyway.

Also, with necrotic ooze banned, would you still keep yixlid jailer and withered wretch? What 2 drops would you replace them with in a weak reanimator meta? I'm real curious because aside from sidisi, I don't see much reanimator around here.

I wouldn't play Thirsting Axe tbh. Don't like the cast:equip ratio. Mortarpod meanwhile is a sac on demand (and vs a GAAIV player I actually got a Pod kill. That was exciting). Plus, it comes with a relevant on-colour body (Bad Moon!)
Without Ooze? Nah, don't need Jailer anymore tbqh (though I'll miss my FNM promo lol). I think I'd still play Wretch. That guy is the GOAT of grave hate. Plus relevant typeline.

cursed totem and thorn of amethyst are great for the deck i think. But don't you think in a meta without necrotic ooze you get more miles out of relentless dead instead of withered wretch?
What's your objective side-by-side of bellstriker and drana? Which of the 2 aggro decks do you think will have better matchups in the current meta?
I think the two decks are different enough this is like an apples to oranges comparison. Bellstriker is fast but being mono-r has it's weaknesses. You getting stone wall'd'd by Wall of Omens and Kor Firewalker being the big one, but then other decks like Daretti being fairly bad as well.
Drana meanwhile lacks the reach of Bellstriker, but picks up recursive bodies, hand disruption, and the ability to grow your dudes so as to out-race and out-wall a growing defensive barrier.
It's two sides of the same coin, and I can't really give a single, solid answer, as to which one is better. I can however, say Bellstriker is favoured versus this deck; something about doing their job for them and making their burn double potency hahaha.

What does your current list look like? The list in the front i think has very little hand disrupt..
It's been a little while since I played Drana, have to see where I'm at. I know on MODO there's discrepancies in the list (like for one I don't have a virtual Rish Port as Port is $175 there). There's a few other [similar] differences too iirc.

Why not play on cockatrice then? Free is pretty good.

I prefer the automated MODO client. Also, Cockatrice never fires on my computers. So I just stick to the official client.
Is there an update to your list, or a list of changes?
My store is looking to getting into French, for like another game night within the week, and I've been trying to come up with ideas on who to play. In normal EDH, I have a competitive Damia, and a developing Rhys, so, I'd like to get into mono-black or meren and work on a hand/creature sac set.

I haven't played Drana in some time as I've put more energy into Alesha, who is my baby. But this deck by elfric is definitely in the right ballpark with the right mindset.

I was looking at this deck and your Alesha deck. As I said, this will be my first French EDH deck. Of the two, knowing your experience with your Drana deck, which would you suggest to a newcomer?

Well. Drana is certainly a more cost-effective option if that's your thing - but it's linear and Bellstriker may be superior. Alesha is modal and provides options, with no shortage of removal for all permanent types. But it's slower, and considerably more expensive.
I wonder if (U/B) Sygg isn't just better for this deck than Drana?
Pros:
- 1 less cmc
- can generate card advantage
- get access to a few other cards, such as Probe , Misstep, and Metamorph. Tezz Gambit?
- Can play the same manabase
Cons:
- Lose access to guaranteed Drana
- invariably isn't a clock on his own
- lacks evasion
- can't lord our team
Well If you want my vote I switched from Drana to Skullbriar and never looked back. The best part is Drana is perfect in Skullbriar. Most people don't build Skullbriar properly imo, I can post my list if u want. I haven't had time to fully test the deck but I haven't come across a terrible matchup yet.
I have tried blue aggro in Marchesa, blue doesn't bring much to the aggro table outside of Clique, True-Name and maybe Mausoleum Wanderer. Green however brings a metric **** ton for aggro.
I've been thinking of starting a skullbriar thread to discuss the deck anyway but I hate hosting them if I don't have to. It would he great if you made one instead

I think you misunderstand me. By using Sygg, I would keep the deck Sui Black. It'd just add the free phyrexian mana spells with the same base.
Oh I see, I misunderstood. No, of you want to play aggro then we need eithor a more agressive general like Zurgo/Kytheon or a more disruptive one like Thalia or Teeg imo. Sygg's CA can be really hit or miss and he's basically god awful against other creature decks like Titania or Jenara.
what you say is true, he is only good when you can get through, unlike Drana that can get through easily. But he also can at least change how people fetch and the lands they use. Being able to draw off their Confluence < Seize for example, makes the Seize a really fell-terrible play choice.
Sygg also "makes Bonesplitter great again", enabling anyone to beat for three, himself included.
Like I said I'm not sold completely, but I want to believe...although yes your Skullbriar is more aggressive (who himself is, generally, outclassed by Doran/Anafenza) and we're back on that plan.

Collective Brutality- Seems decent, not sure if it's powerful enough or not.

Actually I'd like to work Null Rod in, and even a Thorn of Amethyst as well.
Would not play Hatred here, 1) it eats it's own life fairly quickly, and 2) it's less efficient than Dark Favor et al (it still costs five after all).
