MTG Salvation

When I took this deck out of the box and sleeved it up, I played a friend of mine (Using a scarcely modified mono-white pre-con) and it dismantled his deck. I noticed that I played Doritos and Feldon. Feldon didn't seem to have as much synergy as Daretti, but I wanted to give him a chance at am animator/etb deck. Land destruction and direct damage were the first avenues to my goal as I saw. I main;y play in a multiplayer setting, but I think this build fits better in a 1v1 setting.

Feel free to comment or leave any suggestions, I'm always open to thought provoking edits.

I guess your deck is not for competitive purpose, so you may want to try Sundial of the Infinite : as you end your turn, the "sacrifice the token" effect does not go on the stack so you keep it! For 1v1, Sundering Titan can be a bomb too.

Remove Caged Sun and Gauntlet of Power, they really are too slow. Instead, use the 2CCM mana rocks. The doubling damage enchantments is a trap, Feldon is a slow killer and you may end being beaten to death by a quick opponent (elfball?). You also definitely need more ways to put your bombs in the graveyard, so Faithless Looting, Wild Guess, Lightning Axe are good options.

Finally, I would include more wraths in the pack, just in case things go out of control. Anger of the Gods, Pyroclasm, etc.

I used to play a Feldon deck in multip^layer. It was not quite competitive but lots of fun to play!

Worldgorger Dragon and Keldon "Fire"bombers seem like legitimate considerations.,and I'll probably pick up a copy when I hit up my LGS.

As far as competitive edge, it's not meant for competitive if it was, then cards like Wasteland and Mana Crypt would be ideal for the list.

I'm not keen on cutting mana doubling, simple because R doesn't have many doubling or ramp effects outside of weird one-shots like Geosurge and Pyretic Ritual. If I did take them out however, I would add a Crypt stated above. And as for draw/discard pairings, It's good that red actually has that mechanic to create synergy with Feldon.

I may go with a Blasphemous Act as far as sweeps go. Sundial seems interesting, might look for one and playtest it for the cute token tech.

I've tried Ravenous Baboons and took it out because it only hits non-basics, but given the number of quality utility lands out there (I don't know like: Gaea's Cradle, Maze of Ith, Cabal Coffers etc.) it will find it's way back in. People play Shock, Pain, Scry, and all types of nonbasics, and with Command Tower so prevalent, it'll have plenty of targets.

I can second the recommendation for Keldon Firebombers, pretty much the perfect LD spell for Feldon, who needs some mana to do his thing. Sundial of the infinite is also legit. As far as ramp in red, Treasonous Ogre is bonkers and a lot of fun too. Some more 2/3 cc rocks couldn't hurt and I always throw wayfarer's bauble and armillary sphere in there too. Crucible of worlds and fetches in your budget?

Edit: mistook this for the multiplayer forum, feel free to disregard anything that seems like poor advice for 1v1. That said I did play my deck 1v1 a bit and it always fared well against moderate opposition.

Nope all input is welcome, thanks for the tips, I think that swapping out some miscellaneous cards for artifact ramp seems legitimate, works nicely with Doritos.

Treasonous Ogre seems interesting, going to look for one soon. Seems good with 40 life and mass LD.

I want it optimized for 1v1 (although I mainly play multiplayer) so probable switch out Sol Ring for Ashnod's Altar if I find myself in 1v1. I think that narrowing the strategy will help either format, giving the deck a better direction or clear win strategy.

I was thinking of going artifact sub theme, adding in Darksteel Forge, Mycosynth Lattice, and Mycosynth Golem, could be nuts with Vandalblast. Nevinyrral's Disk would be available as well. Thoughts?

Personally I'm not huge on cutting mana doubles, though have lower cost option will be faster. Red has no mana excel that's consistent, so any chance to make more use out of basic mountains is okay for me.

The damage doublers, along with Rumbling Crescendo, and Volcanic Offering were on their way out. (Although, I do like this card for the targets you don't control. Down the stretch it's a really sleazy way to hurt your opponent(s). I get that it's costly, and there are better options in the form of creatures, which can be reanimated.)

Spire Barrage will go out with the damage doublers.

Strionic Resonator was only intended for the ETB triggers, which, in retrospect, the mana for it's activation cost should be put towards other forking or sac triggers to get max synergy.

Wake of Destruction seems high cost for little gain, even in a multiplayer match unless you choose a massively shared colour (usually Islands). Mana should be used on cheaper global effects.

Alhammarret's Archive I'm eager to try, seen it very briefly the other day. I think with the newly acquired cards like Wild Guess and old goodies like Tormented Voice it might seem strong. I'm not willing to give up on it yet.

As for the how legality of card, banned list an whatnot, most 1v1 games are among friends using multiplayer decks against each other, nothing too serious. For that we have no regard for the said banned list, but if push came to shove, I would add in a Tec Edge and Coldsteel Heart for Soul-eater Ring and Stripper Mine.

I'm thinking of adding in a Goblin Welder to get out more tricks from Feldon/Daretti. May be an easier way to get my mana doublers out.

Yeah....If i could find one I would pick one up. Wish the price on Portal cards wasn't so high...I did intend for it but alas, they are hard to come by.

Had a crazy game the other day, against Prime Speaker Zegana and Derevi, Empyrial Tactician. Needless to say Zegana ramped out and myself and the other player and I just held off. I used Feldon to get a copy of Tyrant of Discord and I picked a bunch of stuff from the Zegana player (only playing 4 creatures and I got 3 of them with one Tyrant copy).

I had the Koth emblem on deck (relatively early and was using it as a removal and source and chipping at my opponents life all game), and the Zegana deck played Diluvian Primordial and got my Chaos Warp, targeting my Anvil of Bogardan. The warp got me Spawn of Thraxes with 14 Mountains in play (Zegana Player at 26 life).

Comes to my turn, Land drop (15 now) ping for 12, swing at the Derevi player bringing him to 9 or something and I could ping him next turn for lethal.

Some notable changes:

Thinking about taking out Burnished Hart for Pilgrim's Eye. The ETB and land advantage is more direct and doesn't cost anything early game in the Pilgrim's Eye, interested to see how it fits in.

Hey I'm going to be updating the OP to a link to the multiplayer version of my deck. It's changed quite a bit and is definitely a multi-way deck from what I've seen when playing it.
