Thanks for the update Lyserg! Been testing Benevolent Bodyguard and its been solid! More protection to combo off. I did save Yisan, the Wanderer Bard on one of the turns when I found Village Bell-Ringer and saved him and won. I also am glad you cut the big planeswalkers as they were a little to slow and seemed not part of the gameplan at times. I did like Ajani, Mentor of Heroes but the list right now is solid. Haven't gotten to play Hardened Scales unfortunately but hoping to draw it in testing next week.
As Kon so graciously showed me a few days ago, Marath, Will of the Wildremoves a +1/+1 counter from himself to target himself and net an extra +1/+1 counter for the cost of 1. if you think of a +1/+1 counter on devoted druid as the equivalent of one G, then with hardened scales out marath basically says 1, remove a +1/+1 counter from Marath: add GG to your mana pool. by going back and forth between marath and devoted druid with hardened scales in play you net an infinite amount of +1/+1 counters on Marath or the devoted druid, which can then be moved across to the druid for infinite mana, and then pumped into Marath to blast your opponent's face for infinite lethal damage. so yeah scales is probably a safe auto-include in marath now.
For me, I don't like Benelovent Bodyguard. For some reason, he's not versatile. Although, I do need a lot of testing. For the enchantment, he's a hit or miss since most of the time since it just stays there being cute where most opponents can go around and sweep the whole field.
