(Note: I apologize in advance if you don't want me speaking for you, Khymera. Much respect.)
Khymera has been delving into the 1v1 French meta on Cockatrice in the past month, but I believe this is correlative to his winter break from school. In other words, the most well-informed American player interested in Duel Commander has gotten on board with a more competitive rule set (one that isn't ruined by a terribly inadequate ban list utterly dominated by 5-color combo), and he only appears to be delving into said meta during his brief times off from school. I definitely wouldn't depend on Khymera to bolster this thread ever again.
That said, I do have a long-term goal of starting a thread for the French meta, hammering out a Tier list, providing links to relevant Primers, and giving tips about making decks for the French meta. But, not unlike Khymera, I've got school obligations ahead. Nevertheless, I'm shooting for a completed French Meta topic by the end of the month. I'll keep y'all posted.
The 1v1 community would appreciate that. An idea to help keep these things from going stale: maybe create an account you can share with a buddy / pass on to someone else should life get in the way? Seems like such a waste to have to start over, and I'd hate to see the same issue happen again in a couple of years.
That's sad to hear... though I think many of us can sympathize with regards to school - I know there have been times where I haven't visited MTGS for months on end because of it!
That being said, I know we are always grateful to see more resources posted, especially because so many of us are pretty well-occupied with other things that taking on such a burden is more than many members might want to do. However, I think that if you were to get the ball rolling you would get a lot of support from everyone here. With so many voices and so much experience, it'd probably be more a matter of collating viewpoints and comments rather than having to put too much original work in yourself. I've found our fellow members are really quite excellent at contributing material for larger topics of the flavor you're mentioning, so it should turn out well.
Also, as a sidenote (and somewhat unrelated), how many many members do we have from the French community who frequent both forums? We see a few sporadic posts giving us a glimpses of what's going on over there, but I always feel somewhat in-the-dark. It seems like it would really help if a few more members wouldn't mind giving us updates once in a while as to decklists, tournament results, etc.
I was hoping to find some time over the last couple months to update this, but that time didn't really materialize. I do feel bad about letting it go stale though, since all the decks in the OP are very out of date at this point. If anyone wants to take this project over, I would be more than happy to relinquish the reins.
Even on a small scale--if people want to try to update some of the lists or send me new ones that belong with a little write-up, I could start to include them.
I noticed that cards like Kokusho and Recurring Nightmare unfortunately become banned with this list, and also that Khymera said most of these are very out of date at this point anyway.
Going to revive this thread because it's been dormant for awhile now and it should be updated because its AWESOME. Since we're in the final round of Swiss portion of the French Ban List tournament I just want to post the decks that have qualified/are qualifying.
Evergreen = Iname, Death Aspect

Fatalshadow = Vendilion Clique
Omgmakeme = Zur the Enchanter

Gaka = Geist of Saint Traft
mutedequilibrium = Ruhan of the Fomori
Riley = Captain Sisay
Jarreth = Damia, Sage of Stone
pano = Merieke Ri Berit
What I would like to see happen is that we update the competitive decklists with a lot of the newer decklists that have been doing well in the French Tournaments as well as the one hosted on the forum. I wouldn't mind updating it on a regular basis unless someone has a problem with that? If people want to release their decklist after the tournament, that would be greatly appreciated. (I'll be the first to step up and release my deck. Plus I'm writing up a tournament log of my games to go along with it).

No. It doesn't do anything useful until the next upkeep; it fails the topdeck test.
so do counterspells. they don't improve a losing board position. the 'topdeck test' is imo an anecdote used loosely in forum discussion and doesn't have a basis in reality for deck construction and play.
having said that, yes the card sucks. but mostly because it is just sucky. it doesn't give any useful abilities, equip costs mana, and the regeneration costs mana. in competitive EDH, we want cards that are cheap to cast, have free activations, provide card advantage, or useful abilities. This card does none of these. So basically there are many reasons this thing sucks but it has nothing to do with being a bad topdeck. it's just a bad card in general. does this make sense?
edit: yes I obviously have pet cards that I think would fail "normal" scrutiny on card quality but are pretty good (at least in my experience). and it depends on the deck. phew.
Good to know. I just started playing EDH, so I am grateful for any tips.
No problem. I'm also tempted by new cards that look good for a certain general or strategy. I think some good guidelines on evaluating a card are to ask yourself questions based on how your opponent will look at the card you cast. For example, is it a must-counter card against control? Does it kill creatures or somehow combat aggro decks? Does your opponent go "oh crap!" when you play the card? I know it's not a scientific evaluation and definitely not original thinking, but this is about as far as i'd go on evaluating a card's worth. Oh, and playtest! If you're not sure about the card, try it out in your deck.
I've had a request to unsticky this, as it's grown somewhat outdated and the 1v1 Mega Thread fills the purpose this used to. Is that the general consensus about this thread?

Yes. "somewhat outdated" doesn't really do it justice. Nearly all of these decks are completely irrelevant.
