Ok, so I am new to EDH and I am looking to get more into it. Recently, my standard playgroup began mulling over playing EDH in the future, so I decided to work on a deck. From what i can read/have been told, the game is more about synergies and packages than overall strategies. This is the first deck I have built and am still acquiring the remainder of the cards for it.
As for why I chose Ixidor to start off with instead of several, more powerful generals is mostly because of how much I liked the character. I began playing magic when onslaught came out and the name of the character alone wowed me. Granted, it was before I knew about planeswalkers and some of the other story lines, I still think the character is one of my favorite characters in the history of magic. Not only does he get points for being a tragic character, he has the ability to sculpt reality itself. Unfortunately, after several attempts to create an ixidor deck while he was standard legal, i gave up. Morph just wasn't a powerful theme and i felt that Ixidor just couldn't be competitive. Years later, Time spiral came out and my hope for a redemption of ixidor was nigh. I mean, he was on future sight! Unfortunately, the closest thing that was related to ixidor was not one akroma, but two. So now, this is my third attempt to breathe life into my favorite character.
While I do want this deck to be competitive, I would rather keep the theme intact than lose cards to make it better. Also, you have to consider that alot of card choices were made due to the fact that I only used cards I own..
I tried to explain my choices by grouping cards in catagories, however, certain cards fall into multiple catagories. As for a combo, im trying to use Clique/hinder/jace, tms to combo into tunnel vision.
The people that play legacy / vintage always amuse me. They want their formats to be represented more. They want more tournaments. But when anyone suggests allowing more people access to the formats by reprinting cards, the same people start screaming about the reprint policy.
