Would you include Oko for disruption? If so, what card do you take out for it?
Thoughts on Growing Rites of Itlimoc? I'm torn. The effects are quite good and, if the game goes past ideal turn 4-5, it can be a huge monster & and search for a creature is nice as a "creature fixer".
Thank you again for this primer. Your deck build made me re-think how I build other decks and I've made several improvements!
Itlimoc is a little slow and conditional. 3 mana to not immediately be able to produce mana, provide experience, or disrupt is a huge strike against the card, not to mention the 4 creature requirement, which is normally only met ~1 turn before I go off. It's win-more.
As for Oko, I've been thinking about it, but not entirely sure I need it. It is good for disrupting Cursed Totem though.
Thank you for the prompt reply. Oko seems like just incredibly good for 3 cost and gives opponents a "must remove" before your commander. That being said, there's not a ton of synergy with the deck's purpose and I hesitate to add cards just because they're meta destroyingly good.
Not great. Does nothing on its own, doesn't provide experience, and your experience counters don't go away. Having Ezuri out should accomplish the same thing as playing The Ozolith, but one of them helps you build counters, the other is a very situational "what if" that will rarely (if ever) matter. For one mana, I'd rather play something to disrupt the spell that would cause the creature to leave the battlefield.
I’m not sure I fully see the appeal.I like the card, but I’m not sure if it is what this deck wants to do. To me, this deck seems streamlined to engage in really fast games using a combination of ramp, disruption, and payoffs to win. I don’t see this card fulfills any of those roles consistently and quickly enough to be worth it. Skydiver May be more appealing in 1v1 situations where it can really disrupt one opponent, but in multiplayer it seems a bit slow. If x could be 0 for kicker I would be more into it potentially stealing early mana rocks on turn 2. But maybe we have enough 1 drop ramp that we can still achieve that early anyway.
I know it has been 2 years since anyone has talked about anything. But, I have 3 years of playing with this Decklist am trying to get back into EDH. Has there been any changes to this decklist is 2020?
